Such a WOW place this is & whenever one travel from one part of the world to another, every street seems a paradise, as there's so very much too see and process per second. Truly a darling place, with all options of entertainment, relaxation, shopping plazas at affordable price also and many more

The heart of San Francisco.

The heart of San Francisco.
I visited Union SQ in winter time before holidays. The ice rink and holiday tree gave me a feeling of holidays even though it was warm weather.

So many things happening in the area at once, it is truly an experience you don't find many places. From the stores, to the options for food, to watching huge cranes moving and building sky scrapers, to the awesome yearly ice rink - it is a place that if one has the opportunity to visit, then take advantage of it!

While normally this is a great spot for shopping and people watching, there is a massive construction taken place right now. As such, it is no longer walkable or enjoyable. Dec 2016.

Union Square in San Francisco compares to The Rockafeller Center in NY. It has a skating rink, restaurant and shopping but it is only a few blocks. After that it's just a town. The cable car runs thru there and buses. Very crowded when I went. I went on Xmas day. Very nicely decorated with lots of lights and a huge xmas tree. Food vendors selling sausage, hot dogs and churros. Stores like Tiffany's , Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Louis Vuitton, Apple, Saks Fifth Ave and more. Lots of places to eat. The cheesecake Factory is in the Macy's building. A most Stop for tourist to enjoy nice pictures and good food. @MargaritasandReviews on IG

Great place especially during Christmas time! When I visited last they took down the hearts of SF. I'm guessing it might be part of the renovation in the space

It is a beautiful business square with corporate offices and shopping malls/ centers. Very neat place with well managed traffic plan. It is very nice to see the cycles, cars, buses, electric buses and trams plying on the same road. A must visit place when in Sanfrancisco.

My wife and I had really enjoyed this place. It is very memorable from the time we have lived in the Bay area. We loved coming to visit here during the holidays and during regular days to do sight seeing. We have really explored this place and know the beauty and also the dirtiest place. The place offer an underground parking but it can get expensive the longer you stay. The traffic can be outrageous when rush hour begins especially on the weekends when the tourist are in town.

This small courtyard is surrounded by many shopping centers. Its architecture looks classic but modern. Its decoration will make you feel comfy. It is a good place to meet people or sip a cup of coffee and enjoy its beauty.

Love this area. Every time we visit, I make sure we stay nearby. I especially love the number of homeless people, which are everywhere. I have had many a nice deep conversation with them, and a lot of them are there by choice: they are artists, deep thinkers, philosophers. I find it great that the City accommodates them in every way it can, and cleans up after them every morning. I wish more places like this existed in our big cities. In short- a must for every San Francisco tourist.

It's a must see because you have to see San Francisco like it is. You get to see the heart of San Francisco, and the reality part is that there's always some kind of construction going on. Reality tours for the win!

THE open plaza is an example of amazing foresight. I walk through their everyday and its really an oasis. Cant wait till construction is finished though.
Although policed fairly well DO NOT let backpacks etc. out of yout sight.
Now if they could do something about that nuisance of a bus ride company...

Union Square is a historical and pretty park highlighted on the Barbary Coast Trail self-guided walking tour. Guide books are available at the Tourist Information Center in the very sketchy Bart - Powell Street Station about where the trail begins. There are some neat details: the Maiden Lane off the East side of the park was a home to prostitutes; The woman on the Dewey Monument is a cute rags-to-riches story; there's a building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright; and the lobby of the Westin St. Francis Hotel is worth wandering into. There's a public restroom and a great coffee shop right in the square.

What more can be said about Union Square in SF? This area hosts loads of events, an ice skating rink during winter, and picture-worthy parts everywhere! The hearts at each corner are especially popular for your tourist pictures.

Recently, the square has been surrounded by construction, so driving around the area is a nightmare. The parking lot is still open though, if you're willing to tough it out through the traffic.

Great area to walk around with Christmas decorations and festives stores. Check out William Sonoma, Gump's pop up at 150 Post, and the kitties and puppies in the Macy's windows at the corner of Stockton and O'Farrell. Then go for a drink at John's Grill. Come back to the St. Francis Hotel for champagne pop up and check out the gingerbread and sugar houses and the old clock. Merry Christmas!

Great Place to Hangout, always live with locals and Tourist in heart of San Francisco downtown filled with shops and resturants.

Union Square was originally a tall sand dune, and the square was later set aside to be made into a public park in 1850. Union Square got its name from the pro-Union rallies held there on the eve of the Civil War. The monument itself is also a tribute to the sailors of the United States Navy.

Union Square was built and dedicated by San Francisco's first American mayor John Geary in 1850 and is so named for the pro-Union rallies by Thomas Starr King that happened there before and during the United States Civil War.[4] Since then the plaza has undergone many notable changes, one of the most significant happening in 1903 with the dedication of a 97 ft (30 m) tall monument to Admiral George Dewey's victory at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish American War.

Incredible place! Ventured out late at night - very safe. We were lucky to be there right before Christmas to see all the holiday decorations. It was fun to watch the skaters and listen to the DJ. Lots of people around having a wonderful time. It was spectacular.

With the presence of many haute couture houses, high end fashion outlets, jewelry shops and department stores, Union Square is a popular tourist destination. From Macy's, to Neiman Marcus, Nike, Zara, you will recognize a few brands. It is a busy spot for boarding and disembarking from tour buses. The square itself is a really cool place to chill and take in the scene.

Union Square is a large district of San Fransisco but only takes up about 1 block. This is where all the high end shopping is, and lots of world renown designers are. Great places to eat within a few blocks and only about 2-3 blocks from China Town. You can also hop on San Fransisco's famous trolley line from here. Definitely a must see if you are in San Fransisco.

Great shopping area but the area is packed with homeless. Normally I wouldn't comment on that but I had a near attack while I was waiting to walk across an intersection and it scared me. As a female I would not walk around here at night alone. otherwise the shopping options are great.

Landmark landmark landmark. This is San franciscos version of Rockefeller center of New York. It's not as grand, doesn't have as much history, but still nice nonetheless. Apple, Macy's, and LV are the prime estate stores
