The strongest point of hotel is center of city and...

The strongest point of hotel is center of city and easy to access to business places and sightseeings. May 4th metro station and bus stop are the front hotel. There are Premium taxi(black color)also queueing for service at front.

Room is standard for 5 stars. Nothing fancy. Smoke detector on ceiling is flashing LED light all night, very annoying when your room dark and trying to sleep.

Staffs at restaurants, lobby lounge, doors and room cleaners are very keen for service and friendly. But night shift receptionists look upset at me. After finished my business trip in China I start figure out this action is very common on most hotel here!!

Bit disappointed on check in-check out process. Shangri-la is 5 stars? Not really for this matter. Long queue on check out time. Need to drag your suitcases to room yourself after check in. No bell boys on service.

Breakfast buffet is lack on western food options. Most are local style.

The rooms were beautiful and most came with a decent view, the linens and soaps were soft and wonderful. I was slightly disappointed with the pool as the jets were not working in the hot tub and the lady who is working at the pool was not the kindest when telling us to wear shower caps to be in the pool. the caps also fall off and are completely pointless to wear and don't provide any additional hygiene to the pool.

I made reservations for dinner, the gentleman who took the reservation made sure to decorate the table for my birthday which I thought was special and kind. The man who served the table was kind, efficient and allowed us to split the bills so we could all pay our own. The food was reasonably priced, good portions and a lovely space. It was my second time eating there and I was not disappointed.

Upon checking out, the lady who helped me (Dora I believe her name was) noticed that it was my birthday and wished me a special day and gave me a beautiful gift of green tea.

We were all treated very well and the Shangri-La did not disappoint! Had a wonderful stay and would book your hotel again in the future :)

This hotel was 7 stars at year and it still is this year ! The staff are fantastic, a great attention to detail and nothing is too much effort. The Valley Wing rooms really are worth the extra money

Overall our experience with the hotel is great - facilities, staff, food, restaurants especially the music night at the lobby lounge and the good service and food at the Summer Palace Chinese restaurant.

The only thing which unfortunately came as a very bad experience was the 3rd night during our stay when we got off from taxi at the main entrance of the hotel. We went back to hotel after dinner by taxi, and when we arrived there was no way the taxi could get close to the entrance, because of construction work. There was absolutely no sign for both cars or pedestrians how to get in. We were forced to get off the taxi in the middle of the road, and the construction trucks were huge and moving so quickly and almost hit on us. We jumped to the back of the taxi to avoid being hit, at the same time stopped the taxi from leaving. It was very dangerous because of the big trucks moving around, the traffic on the road with other cars, and the darkness of the entrance area. During our move we even inevitably stepped onto the area with wet wax (bitumen). Our shoes became sticky and dirty and later after we went back we realized there was no way to clean it and had to throw them away. At the end, we managed to get back onto the same taxi, forced the taxi driver to go around the hotel and finally stopped somewhere that we saw a pavement and we had to then walk back.

We were quite disappointed at how an international 5-star hotel did not give any notice to its customers that there would be major construction work that impact them on going out/getting back to hotel. Also, there should be at least clear sign to tell taxi/customers on how to go to alternative entrance if the main one is blocked. At minimum there could be someone who could have instructed the traffic there, instead of having ourselves almost got hit by truck with our shoes all becoming messy and could just be screaming there. It eventually became quite a scary night for us and we did spend a great deal of time to settle and wash ourselves after getting back to our room.

The Hotel is situated in Center of the City. So all the major attractions are within walking distance of the hotel. You can easily get good food around the hotel and the hotel's morning breakfast menu is vast, you will love it, if you are a breakfast lover like me.

The food from restaurant is great, all staffs are super friendly.
Easy to make reservations and arrangements for everything.
Definitely will go back again for next stay in Qingdao.

wonderfull time, I want to mention the profesional and carefull treatment we receive from manager valley wing, and the rest of the valley wing staff.
I must say that was really great the reception on arrival and the check-in process directly in the room was awesome
unfortunately the Q bar was closed during our stay, I understand that will be re open with a new concept.
limo service was fine, we transport to/from airport and to the show at expo center, drivers ok. i think rate is just a little bit high.

Special mention to Ryan Hoo, Anny Zhang and Effie Yu who were extremely helpful and welcoming.

The housekeeping person (Mr or Ms " ") also left a handwritten note in my room which I appreciate a lot.

We are pleased with the human services but the equipment services were not up to par with today's traveller requirements such as internet and air conditioning. They were both slow and warm respectively. We hope to see that improved.

I loved Shangri-la a lot and this time was quite disappointing. It took forever to check in and shampoo was not the same brand I used. More concerned me, the weather was terrible and no air filer. And for a hot winter, it was pain to stay in the room without AC.

The shower fell off as I started the water, the hot water was either too hot or not hot enough, so I guess the maintenance is not up to par. The people are friendly and helpful. I understand this is china and english is not the commonly used language, but for staff not to even know items on their own In room dining menu was a bit disappointing. trying to order breakfast was a struggle.

Exceptional!

Exceptional!
My family of 4 (2 young children) enjoyed our stay in Shangri La Qingdao tremedously and was very pleasantly surprised by the hospitality the staff had showered on us. We upgraded our room to the executive club wing to enjoy more space in the room, complementary extra bed for the kid, and the access to the club lounge.
All the staff are very polite and always ready to help. They have even prepared takeaway breakfasts for our early departure to catch the flight.
Special mention to Mr Kenta, the manager who ensure we had a great stay and all smiles (he can speak Mandarin, English and Japanese!). Also Ms Becky, the team leader, on all her assistance to make the family's stay very comfortable.
While Shangri La may not be the latest 5 star hotel in Qingdao, the well maintained grandeur and the extreme hospitality of the staff makes this a highly recommended choice for Qingdao's stay.

I have stayed in a number of Shangri-La properties...

I have stayed in a number of Shangri-La properties and similarly branded hotels before, but I have never experienced service that so exceeded my expectations as what we received in our recent stay at the Shangri-La Qingdao.

The purpose of our visit was to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday, and to get out of Beijing for the first time since the implementation of travel restrictions because of Covid-19. Just about everyone we met at the hotel treated us as if we were the only guests there, including the housekeeping staff that made up our room even on the day we were to check out (we had a late check out thanks to my Jade membership). I've literally never seen that before in a hotel.

But I would like to reserve special recognition for Wallance, the assistant F&B manager who went significantly out of his way - including gaining the participation of several other staff - to make sure my girlfriend had a birthday weekend she wouldn't forget. From packing a to-go breakfast for her when she slept in our first morning, to delivering a cake to our room with 4 other staff while singing happy birthday, he consistently found creative ways to delight us. I work in the service industry myself and so while I try not to be too demanding when traveling for myself, I nevertheless can recognize the effort it takes to create a truly spectacular guest experience. I am so, so impressed with Wallance, Vincent and the whole F&B team.

I'd also like to give a special shout-out to Kenta, the Valley Wing manager who also made us feel as if we were the most important people in in the hotel. From check-in to check-out, this was truly a special experience. Well done!

I have already recommended this hotel to several of my colleagues, some of whom have already said they plan to follow my advice. For their sake, I certainly hope that they do.

It was one of my best stays at Shangri-La hotels. Anny, the guest manager did a great job from our arrival to departure. Even when we found out my wife left her national ID at the room at the time that we were checking in at the airport, she helped us to recover the ID and shipped to us.

Being a keen and loyal Shangri-la supporter for two decades, I have been traveling extensively in the Region and I must congratulate the hotel team Shangri-La Qingdao for providing exceptionally high standard of services to their guests. I noticed that you used the word of "A spacious bathroom" in the room description. Please do step into the guest room and take a look at the bathroom. I can't believe that the smallest bathroom I used was actually in Shangri-La.

At least you can remove these words about bathroom in room description so guests can choose another room.

Other than that, I was satisfied with the room. The new decoration is pretty good for such old building.

Had a good experience during check in the staff was courteous which make me feel comfortable. Requested for a king size bed, but given single bed link together, wanted a smoking but was not ready needed to wait for one and a half hour so decided to have none smoking room since I was tired after travelling, while front desk told me they will change my room when the room is available. But nothing happened throughout my stay even though they saw me coming just to smoke frequently. First night room service was poor, food was serve warm and the plate was cold. Food standards was up and down. Only thing that was great was the housekeeping.

The breakfast there was also one of the best among the 5 starts hotels we have stayed, offering a variety of choices including traditional local delights! 10/10 experience!

My 5 days stay with my wife was in all respect perfect.
All employies were were helpfull, but I shall particularly address the very hospital attitude from Wallance Jiang (Assistant Food & Beverage Manager). Beside being very open minded he also ensured, that we left the hotel sufficiently early - under the treat of a hurricane - enabling us - at the very last minute - to reach our intercontinental flight back to Denmark from Beijing.

I would like to commend all staff from SLQ for their professionalism and for taking passion and pride in what they do. Special thanks to Carrie Fo (If i recall her name correctly) for displaying an excellent attitude throughout my encounter with her.

One thing can be improved - the breakfast served at Cafe Yum. Edible, but not fantastic for a world class hotel.

We stayed at the new building, but facilities were good, too and was able to enjoy breakfast and happy hour in lounge.
In the evening, beer and Qingdao beer factory honey peanut service was also pleasant.
Location was good and Chinese taxi drivers knew the pronunciation of Shangri-La hotel well and liked taxi ride.
I like caustic rain and I want to stay here the next time I go to Qingdao.

We visited Shangri-la, Qing Dao recently and it was a pleasant stay. The room was huge with very big space and comfortable bed. The bathroom was very large with separate shower room and bathtub. My daughter at age of 2 trying hard to jump into the bathtub when she saw it

Furthermore, their breakfast at cafe Yum has good spread of food and all of our family enjoyed ourselves. I especially enjoyed the tea time service in their lounge. The food was delicately some and yummy .

All the staffs were very welcoming and displayed good customer service. The front desk staff and their manager-Mr Ryan and Mr Kento were very friendly and shown their hospitality well.

Another added bonus point was the Chinese restaurant- Shang palace, it was nicely and elegantly decorated with good quality of Chinese cuisine.

Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and wish to return to the hotel one day whenever we have the chance.
