Nice cozy bar with good traditional stuff. The happy hour is very long so make sure to take advantage of it. The usual cocktails that are not on the menu don t apply to the HH though.

Good bar, not drowning in tourists. Novelty drinks are hit and miss. Stick with what you know.
Pricey but bartender is skilled and food is delish!
Finally something good near Times Square! My office is close to Bryant Park and the area has historically felt deprived of stylish after-work options. Inventive cocktails and the nicest service--I recommend The Independent frequently to colleagues.
I m so glad I found this spot. An independent feel that t sq needs.
The vibe is old school NYC. Classy, Majestic, & Charming. I took a date there for the first time. We loved it! Order a "Roll with the Punches." You're welcome in advance
We liked it. A little bit on an expensive side, but I guess it is Manhattan, right? Menu is rather small but all we ordered was pretty good. We have made a reservation, but Tuesday was not a super busy day. Waiters were very attentive and nice. It is not the best Manhattan bar we've been, but there is no reason to give it less than 5 stars.
Great little spot for drinks, snacks or a meal in an area filled with mediocre corporate junk. We wandered in at 11pm on a Sunday after a long travel day, so happy to find a place with the kitchen still open (til 11:45). Ordered drinks, a flatbread and a cauliflower popcorn snacky thing - totally hit the spot! Bartender gave great service. The crowd was young and we enjoyed the mellow vibe. I'd go back anytime I'm in this part of town!
Friendly bar staff, GREAT deviled eggs. An outstanding place for pre show bite to eat.
This is a good place to have a drink and conversation with your colleagues after work. Good music
Great new Spot. Comfortable, nice location, great staff...might be a new regular hangout.
My first time visiting New York and I am so happy my friend suggested this gem! Our waitress was amazing and my steak was cooked to perfection. Ugh. I loved it. Will be back here on my next visit for sure!
Stopped into The Independent while traveling alone in NYC. I was in the area and was looking for a glass of bubbly after watching a Broadway show on a Sunday night. I LOVED my experience here- this is why:
- Their bubbly option is a prosecco split (unless you go by the bottle) and it was perfectly fine for what I was looking for. I can understand why they re known for cocktails. The drink lineup is solid.
- My Irish bartender provided GREAT service. He was attentive, never pushy, never bothersome, jusssst perfect. I sat at the bar for over an hour drinking bubbly and working on my phone and he was perfect.
- This is located in the heart of Times Square and is such a breath of fresh air from the CRUSH of people and the chaotic atmosphere here. Since it was a Sunday it was quiet in here, but even if it wasn t, the ambiance is not and provides a getaway from the madness outside.
- Once I felt tipsy, I kinda wanted a snack and the bartender helped me to realize I just wanted some fries, which weren t on the menu as an individual item, but he could easily service and charge me for (and I could easily eat and pay for them!)
Will I be back? YES!
The Diet Coke was awful but the crispy deviled eggs were super interesting!
The best post work hangout. Can t say enough good things about the staff, delicious food and THE DRINKS. So good. Looking forward to a weekend visit!
Great New Spot. The staff are warm and welcoming. Eimer sat us at the bar where Andrew reccomended some tasty cocktails. Great choise of IPAs on tap.
Next time i am coming back for the food !
The bar was quaint and the event we were there for was fun.
I've only been for lunch. Small but unique menu. Food is really good.
This place has become my new regular spot for after-work drinks or a bite. Also an excellent option for a lunch meeting. Fantastic cocktail list with something for everyone, solid local beers and super friendly and fantastic staff.
Do not miss the halloumi fries - might be the best thing on the menu!
It's a really small place. Cozy and quaint but the event was nice. Had a nice experience altogether.
Pretty great place, the drinks were awesome! Our server was friendly and helpful. I had the signature drink the Teddy and my wife had Red Herring. Haloumi Fries were good as well. Its very close to Joe's Pizza, you don't have to go anywhere else to grab late night drunk food.
Love it here. The atmosphere is fantastic but the bar tenders complete the experience.
Although it is expensive, its price is worth it, the service is excellent and the place very nice
1. Served Water was Cloudy. I did not even asked for water. No, don't serve this free water. It would only hurt your business. 2. Beer on Tap was not iced cold. We had to switch to Bottled Beer. 3. Fried Calamari was sweet. Hmmm, No ! I'm not coming back.
Great selection beers
Great food
Well done
Convenient location to the N and R train, close to Times Sq. Newly renovated, pleasant pub vibe. Good burgers and drinks.
One of my favorite restaurants when I travel to NYC. Love their healthy vegetable bowls. Great place for friends, couples and coworkers. Highly recommend this restaurant if in the area.
Good atmosphere, slow service, waited 20 minutes for a drink after ordering, nice staff
Great crispy deviled eggs and flat bread. Cassie our bartender was just terrific.
Food and drinks great. Easy access to theatres. Reservations on line. 1 waitress doing tables and being hostess and she did very well!!
What a beautiful and neat case.
The staff are friendly and the food / drinks good.
Among all the things in central Manhattan, this is a must.
Love this place. Get the rolling with the punches, the presentation is top notch, and the food is great too. Loved the crispy devilled eggs and the lemon pepper wings
Food was decent. Seemed like they were out of many things.
Great place! The bartender, Jaime, was amazing!! He had the whole place covered by himself!! Bartender, waiter, he had it all and the service was fast! Food was awesome! We had three burgers and the flatbread pizza and it was great! Love the fries! The cocktails were amazing and cannot get enough of the NY beers! Thank you, Jaime!! You made our visit a truly incredible experience! Thanks for the food and drink tips and the local tourist advice!
Brief midweek cocktail stop. Rather populated, good vibe. Took a high top to enjoy a few beers and my friend had a great cocktail (tho can not remember the name) it was exceptional.
Will be coming back, and also recommending to you all, and friends.
Calimari was delicious and I usually hate calimari.
A solid go-to bar in the drudgey of midtown west. Clean, modern, and in the weekend evenings, chill.
It was okay. I found some of the dishes under seasoned which left them feeling somewhat pedestrian. I could tell the flavors were there trying to come out but there were blocked by an overly light have in the kitchen..I don't need things to taste like a salt block but these were not where they should have been. The calamari would have been a standout but they were in the fryer just a little too long and came out tough. The staff was incredible though and were attentive and on point at all times. I feel this may have just been an off night in the kitchen. I'd be more than happy to try them again.
Excellent bar keeps, great drinks. I had the Liberty Bell. Yum. And the candied bacon app is delicious.
Great authentic Irish Pub friendly staff and lots of beer
This is a really nice bar and the cocktails are delicious. The bartender that helped us last time was super friendly and recommended the best options. Is so close to the subway and they have food too, delicious as well.
Great for after work drinks. My colleagues and I have come here a few times now and always so welcoming and accommodating. Love the flatbread and halloumi fries!!! Cocktails are so delicious, something for everyone. Great atmosphere, food and staff!
Great service at the bar. Unfortunately the hangar steak tasted like it was steamed or boiled instead of grilled. And it was cooked to death. Meh.
Great place in Midtown - finally a good restaurant and bar for after work drinks or dinner. Service is attentive and great!
Nice vibe, music, a delicious food. I especially enjoyed the fries and the short rib ragu. The wings were aiite. An elegant bar with a casual-professional flow. Would return!
