The location is good. The room is clean and I like the view from my room (14th floor). The aircon was really strong too. Housekeeping did a good job by topping up the shower gel and shampoo every day. It has a wide spread of breakfast too.Check in and check out was smooth.

One of the best hotel in Penang with good ambience...

One of the best hotel in Penang with good ambience & atmosphere, once you come in through lobby, you will get the feeling. The room is spacious, elegant & comfy. Also, clean with complete toiletries (you could see my pictures & videos). Don't forget the amenities, health/fitness center & swimming pool About the place, this hotel is has strategic location, near KOMTAR (old one), Prangin Mall & 1st Avenue Mall. Lot of food to found also near the hotel. The price is commensurate with it's four star hotel, I thought. So, for me it's Recommended Enjoy and have Fun!

however, there is a golden circle counter sign but was not opened. the concierge said its only for mobile check in. this is confusing. this has to be make it clear to diamond and jade GC member

Patient and helpful staff.

Patient and helpful staff.
We have last minute additional people, was surprised there is no room and even extra bed available, end up we have to squeeze sleeping together in a bed.

room condition - clean and well done. I love the decor esp the Moroccan style tiles.
location - perfect
price - a bit pricey compare to the previous rate before renovation.
Maybe the hotel management can provide attractive rates for returning customer

OVERALL, I'M PLEASED WITH THE SERVICE AND CLEANLINESS. THE LOBBY IS BRIGHT AND SPACIOUS. HOWEVER, THE CAR PARK FACILITIES WASN'T GOOD - NO LIFTS TO LOBBY. IN ADDITION, ON WEEKENDS, THE CAR PARK IS ALWAYS FULL AND YOU HAVE TO WAIT A LONG TIME OR BE IN QUE TO GET A PARKING LOT. THE HOTEL MANAGEMENT SHOULD ADDRESS THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY. PERHAPS, ASSIGNING CAR PARK LOTS TO HOTEL GUESTS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO. 2ND PART, MY ONLINE REQUEST FOR A BATHTUB ATTACHED ROOM WAS TOTALLY MISSED OUT THOUGH THE EMAIL REPLY FROM THE HOTEL TO ME WAS THAT TOP PRIORITY WOULD BE GIVEN TO IT.

I am offered Golden Circle(GC) as AMEX Centurion.
I stayed in numerous Shangrila and associated hotels.
My secretary booked the latest in Jen Hotel Penang from travel website and i am totally denied GC benefits. I told them lounge will do, i do not need amenities or wine or points.
The duty manager told me infront of all my fellow friends that by booking 3rd party, means no support to Shangrila grp, so no benefits, not even lounge.
I am very unhappy:
1. If Shangrila decides to go cheapo by taking 3rd party business, then dont penalise GC members.
2. What does the duty manager meant by i do not support Shangrila?! Didn't i asked my secretary book Jen Hotel??? Isnt this brand loyalty???
3. We have 8 rooms that stay for 3 nights, i am embarrassed by this incident and my friends may decide not to stay in Jen next visit in July-Aug.
4. Lastly, i am treated like i am asking for freebies, the Frontdesk Suze was rude and as if i am free loader, when i told her i am not aware of this change in GC rules. This change is wrong for your loyal members. Do not offer 3rd party if you find competition tough, your staff started treating your GC members differently.
5. Lastly, my room 1106 power was tripped twice and technician has to come twice in 3 day's stay???
The toilet bowl is smelly all day long and flush is poor.
I am not not picking, but this stay is really disappointing.

Management has done a bad decision and has empower staff to ill treat loyal customer badly.

I am near 50yrs old and not good in electronic air tickets and hotel bookings. An agent or my secretary takes care of all reservations.
I will ask them to take Shangrila off the list since this is the attitude.

This is our repeated stay. We stay at Jen every year when we head in for the run and so far, the room has been good. However, this trip, the toilet sink may be a bit clogged therefore the water drainage was rather slow..but other than that, it is great.
See you again next year, same day, same time!

We booked Hotel Jen Deluxe Room (King) via Expedia. However, on arrival we were informed that there were no available King rooms, and was offered 2 super single beds connected together. Although the check-in experience was a little disappointed, we have nothing but praise with regards to the overall hotel experience. Food at breakfast was always top-notch, while the club lounge experience was fantastic (good scenery, good variety of food, and the staff also remembered my name). The location of the hotel was also very convenient. We would definitely stay at Hotel Jen again if we come back to Penang.

why was i not directed to the club floor for check in?
the first time i ordered room service, they brought me a tray with he food, that i had to put on the desk where i was working. inconvenient!! the second time, it came on a table cart. ok!

It starts from your bellman and greet us with genuine smile and gesture. They treat us like a family and seems like we already knew each other for very long time even though it was our first time met them. Reception team at the ground floor was very helpful. Thanks to Calvin Ooi for making our short gateway more memorable. My friends really enjoy their stay and definitely will come back again.
The good vibe and hospitality show more on the second day when we went for the breakfast at your coffee house. Eventhough you guys busy, but the quality of service is still there, the smile, how they interect and handling with guest were so professional and spontaneous.
I can say the Supreme Service delivered by your staff is one of the best experience I ever had.

Friendly front office staff, efficient service at Cafe Jen even though crowded during breakfast hour. Breakfast spread was sufficient, weekend buffet lunch was disappointing with very limited choices, not up to Shangri-La standard. No buffet lunch during Sunday, that was a surprise. Bathroom is still equipped with old design (have to shower in bath tub), not convenient for elder and younger generation, and bath tub design is not parallel to Jen's chic concept.

Hotel is located in a really central location for food. Plenty of local hawker centres nearby, and two shopping malls.
The attached restaurant, Cafe Jen, serves amazing food too.
There is a free shuttle to the other Shangri-La resorts so you can visit the beach.

If you drive, never stay in this hotel ! The traffic is jam like hell surrounding this hotel and short of parking lot. I promise that i will never book this hotel again !

First time stay in Jen Hotel. Good location and very pleasant experience. Information on shuttle service to Shangrila Hotel in Batu Ferringhi was not clear. Was not told need to get vouchers. However we have no problem getting them, so no issue. Check in staff were very professional and helpful, knowledgeable with hotel offers.

This is a lovely, centrally located hotel (right next to Komtar) with well-appointed rooms and friendly staff. The heritage district is just a short walk away and it's very easy to go anywhere in Penang because almost all the Penang buses pass this way (the bus terminal is in the Komtar building) and all the taxis are familiar with this location.
We enjoyed our breakfast at Cafe Jen. I loved all the local food options! And most importantly, the staff are all friendly, polite and happy to help. My brother was surprised with a lovely birthday cake despite the fact that the reservation was in my name and I never mentioned his birthday to any staff (they probably made a note of it during check-in). I will definitely be back!

Good central location and breezy check in (checked in at 9.30pm). Breakfast was decent and also reasonable (around rm50+/pax). Parking complimentary for guests but limited bays (about 40-50 cars I guess?). Excellent overall experience!

Overall acceptable.
Evening when all the lights in reception was switched off to celebrate ? earth light health & safety issue were not taken into account. As an elderly guest, on return in the evening, it was dark in reception, making it difficult to negotiate steps & my way to the lifts. I was unable to find my door key in my handbag. Fortunately the receptionist was sensible, offering to re-issue me another replacement key!

2nd time staying in exec room at HJP. Love the loc...

2nd time staying in exec room at HJP. Love the location, it's near to food options and shopping malls, and walking distance to the Hin Bus Depot and some nice cafes.

Would like to compliment William for his impeccable, professional, hospitable, attentive yet non-intrusive service at the Executive Lounge. Husband and I always felt very welcomed when he's on duty. He surprised me with birthday greetings during breakfast and I thought that was very sweet of him. Thank you William!

Room was great as always, spacious and clean. We were disappointed that the wardrobe door knob came off twice, we had to manually screw it back. Also our trash from the night before was not disposed after the room was made up.

Husband was quite upset that his birthday surprise for me failed. Turns out he had asked for a birthday cake and the other manager (not William) at the executive lounge told him it's been arranged, but the cake only appeared late at night after our dinner. by then he had already pulled off the one celebrations and had no use for the cake anymore.

All in all, happy with the stay. hope to see even better service during 9ur next visit.

I was very disappointed with your staff at the reception. I stayed 13-17 June (4 nights). As I was leaving 17/6 early in the morning, I contacted your staff at the reception on 15/6 and advised her that I would not be using the lounge facilities for the last day. She told me that I could not use the lounge on 16/6 after 12noon and I would be charged only 3 days for using the lounge. However when I checked out on 17/6 in the morning, I was charged for 4 days for the lounge. After long discussion and intervention by my son, the reception finally agreed to charge me for 3 days for the lounge. Anyway I am still very annoyed and would not stay in your hotel again.

The hotel is clean and feel fresh and pleasant after the renovation. Your staff are all very helpful and courteous.
I had a birthday cake in my room on 30th May evening. That was nice. But not sure did the staff notice it was my birthday or after my colleague told the front desk it was my birthday and ask to drop a birthday card into my room. Its was a pleasant surprise.

No frills hotel in the middle of Georgetown. They're currently undergoing renovations to the main areas, but the rooms seems to have had their facelifts, so it's all rather nice. I'd certainly stay here again if ever next in Georgetown, Penang.

The room is comfortable and clean and your housekeeping staff is very courteous and friendly. Our room was on the 13th floor; eventhough you had a NO DURIANS into hotel policy; your hotel guests on the nearby room still manage to bring in durians in and the whole corridor from the lift lobby to our room reeks of durian. We informed your Concierge at the ground floor and he is very attentive to our "complaints". Overall we enjoyed our stay .

Service was excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room are clean and well equip with things traveller needs.

Only downside is I find the pillow too soft. Use one too low, use two too high. Can consider both soft and hard pillows in the room for different types of travellers.

Overall, Bravo!

We took a Family Room for 2 adults and 1 teenager....

We took a Family Room for 2 adults and 1 teenager. Beds are comfortable and room is clean. Also happy with the hot water & water pressure @ shower (quite often I found hotel with weak water pressure or irregular hot water). Great location - walking distance to New Lane Hawker Street and zero problem to move around with Grab (waiting time less than 5 min). We also walked to next door, 1st Avenue for some shopping and bubble tea. One word = convenient ! Good for short stay (we stayed 3 nights).

Its a quaint hotel. Not much of amenities to expect and the room size is rather less spacious. But they truly gives back through the great food and kind hospitality. Breakfast spread is really impressive with freshly squeezed juice and little taste of asia and western. Love the cheese platter and muesli. They even have free shuttle service to their "mothership" in Ferringhi for guest to enjoy all the services.

This is my second time at Hotel Jen. I must say this time is way better than the first. The check in was fast, and I was given a room early. Your receptionist surprised me when she said she understood I must felt tired as it was a work trip. Follow that, your service crew Subiah was great as well. He made sure I had fruits to come along with my room service and the next morning at breakfast he prepared a takeaway coffee for me to take to work. Great!

the staffs are adorable with smile while I checked in and the house keepers always fulfilled their duties to make my room clean; furthermore the staffs of the coffee shop on the first floor are friendly, I did enjoyed my meal there.....I will come back here again.

The downside about this hotel is the mattress which is not firm at all. You can see a curve down to the middle of the bed. This is a bit disappointing in this 5 star hotel, other than that everything is good!

Very comfortable room, with good concierge service and helpful staff. The only minus point is the parking spot. At peak hour, its almost impossible to get parking, and do be very careful as the parking spot is tight as well. Overall a very enjoyable stay.
Ps- why i mentioned parking as in P.Pinang, parking is very hard to come by

Stayed here for two nights, good location close to the well known and popular cafes and restaurants. There is a convenience store across the road so it's easy to get anything you need. The rooms are quite basic but comfortable, has all the things you need in a hotel room. The swimming pool is a bit disappointing as it's small and quite dirty but not everyone swims anyway. Price is a plus, very affordable, good value.
