love the ambience, just didn't really fancy the breakfast. can be better. overall 4 days stay is pleasant. large ballroom for function, clean and friendly staff. They even have their own clinic in the hotel which I don't see often in other hotel, thumb ups on that. Shangri la do bags screening on guest every time they enter the hotel. Good customer service. Shangri la is located at the less buzzling side of night market so is really a pleasant stay, less noise at night. they pay attention to even the small details like the tooth brush that is supplied comes in different colour and even the wall plug is traveller friendly, pianist that plays live eveyday. Their attention to small details really impress me. Wi-Fi is login is hassle free and I do not need to get password from concierge and their Wi-Fi is fast even at the ball room when there is so many concurrent login. The only complain i have is food it can be improved, even the dinner international buffet taste can be improve

It's very nice hotel and good location to go to both the old city and also outside of the city. The staffs are very nice and fluent communications in English. The facilitates are super good, the room are nice, big and clean, the garden are very calm for our morning exercise. We definitely will come back again and recommend to our friends to stay.

Compliment: Service, breakfast, staff are very attentive, polite and helpful especially breakfast team, concierge team and spa.

Improve:
1. In-room wifi could not connected on mobile. I called your night duty at number 0 for instruction. After it didn't work I dare not to call him again according to the unpleasant tone of his voice.
2. Your Chinese kitchen is rather big disappointment to us. We tried your dim sum, the taste and appearance was poor and not to be expected from such this hotel chain. Some of dim sum menu, the advertising picture is far from real, totally different. If you are on budget during Covid, at least change the picture so customers know what to be expected. "Chef recommended menu was "fried rice". I think this is nothing special and after I tried it was also very disappointing. You should do better.

In room: Should use cloth that doesn't leave dust on glasses. Maybe those glasses were in the cupboard too long before any one check in or use.

Excellent area around the main entrance. Had some nice minutes there. We just waited in front of it until our pick up arrived. They got stairs and handrails and lot's of cars and stuff. Only three stars because the security told me not to climb the pillars. Thank you Google for reminding me of giving a review for our "stay".

On the first night of our two night stay our upgraded room had a noise (happy to share videos of the noise) from the air conditioning system. This did not allow us to have a good night s stay. It was fixed for the second night after I complained.

Any other hotel chain would compensate us for the inconvenience and discomfort but at Shangri La Chiang Mai according to front desk staff the very best they could do was to make a note of it and inform engineering .

Having said this about the Chiang Mai property I feel compelled to state that our experience on the same trip at the Shangri La Kuala Lumpur and Shangri La Bangkok has been entirely different for the better.

This is the best hotel in Chiang Mai except for the Four Seasons. Service is also good, and club lounge food, variety of liquor are various, and it is recommended because it is inexpensive after 5 star in room condition, price range.

Always superb stays in a Shangri La. The Club rooms are worth paying a bit extra. Came with airport transfers, high floors n got the pool view that I asked for. Service was excellent though the room service order of mee goreng n pad thai was just so so. Pool was big enuf with various cabanas for privacy. A quiet location a short walk from the night markets. Can only imagine the noise if one were to stay at Le Meridien which is smack in middle of night markets.

Overall, I can say that this is old and faithful. But something that I'm not satisfy
1. Nothing fantastic for breakfast. Some food is not fresh and smelly.
2. Key-card is swipe card. There's not a BIG sign to put key-card for access guest room. It's takes sometime for notice that I have to put key-card into a socket because there is NO sign for guest to tell that you have to put the card before access guest room level.

I love Shangri-la. The room is spacious, the bathroom clean, and they leave a plate of fruit in the room which is also delicious. The staff is friendly but not all of them speak English so be patient.

Stayed over the New Years holiday. Upon arrival staff are very pleasant and welcoming. The hotel is in a prime location, walking distance to the night bazar. Rooms are clean, pretty spacious and bed/pillow are super comfy. Definitely felt relaxed and comfortable. Really enjoyed coming back to this hotel after a long day of tours. The gym is great too, there s also a steam/sauna and jacuzzi. Breakfast is also wonderful! Highly recommend this hotel and would stay again.

After staying at several properties in their portfolio this is by far the worst. Air conditioning and shower only worked intermittently. Notified staff who first said it was fixed, when it wasn't, they said too bad the hotel is full. No offer to change the room (obviously) or anything else for that matter. Concierge could not get us a single reservation we requested. When we asked them for a lounge to get a drink they sent us to a local karaoke club where we were not the right demographic. Absurd airport style security measures are more of an inconvenience than a safety measure. Everyone mentions their breakfast buffet which was large but overall nothing remarkable. In fact, they served us raw pancakes. During turn down service they would take half empty bottles of water and simply replace the cap. Staff overall however was quite friendly. The property itself is nice but a bit dated. Spend the money and go to Anantara.

The room is large, the bed is large and comfortable, the sound insulation is very good, the bath water is very good, the water is sufficient, and the temperature is well adjusted. We had a wonderful stay! We arrived with two adults and one child. They let us check in early and the room had a nice Thai touch. They added some special amenities for our six year old boy. Special bedding, and children tooth paste! They have a wonderful pool that is large enough for children and adults! Around six the turn down service comes around and offers anything extra that is needed. This hotel goes out of its way to make sure you have everything you need! Must stay if your staying in Chiang Mai!

Overall a nice hotel but so far everything here has been a slight disappointment. The rooms are nice but walls are very thin and it smells of cigarettes despite the non-smoking policy. The bathrooms are fine but the shower is drafty and difficult not to get water all over the floor, and the bathroom has no fan for masking sound or clearing out condensation. The breakfast and afternoon tea are both incredibly expensive even compared with US prices let alone Thailand (688 to 1500 baht/$20 to $43 per person!) and the offerings weren't anything amazing to warrant the expense. The restaurant inside the hotel was fine but the food was not as good as expected it might just be personal preference, but it was one of the least enjoyable meals we've had in Thailand to date. The staff has all been very attentive and it's fine for our brief stay, but if I ever come back to Chiang Mai I will definitely try and find a better hotel and would not recommend this place to others.

I was very delighted by the cake placed in the room on our arrival on 15th evening for the birthday celebration of the occupant. Thank you for the kind gesture.
The breakfast was excellent and the staff went out of their way to get stuff that some of my Indian friends like to have like Indian masala tea. The Indian section was a nice touch.
The room service was prompt and staff eager to please.
We ordered food at about 10pm at the lobby lounge on the 15th (as we had arrived and checked in late ) and were impressed by the freshness and quality of the food even though it was late in the evening.
Thank you . We will surely come again.

Dear team, thank you very much for a great stay. But I have to say I was disappointed by your breakfast. Fruits were not available for example papaya or mango and pineapple. Cheese selection was typically only one or two cheese with no labels. And it was a shame that you have fresh healthy juice such as wheatgrass but there is sugar added and maybe milk or yogurt, but no labelling if dairy free, etc.
The gym area where the showers are and the mats both are fairly dirty and not cleaned well.
I ordered an espresso which should be the cheapest coffee but was charged almost 165 Bhat with service, this is not great because in the town there are excellent baristas charging 60-100 Bhat. You should really look into this because it is not acceptable. It's a small difference in cost for example 60 Bhat but is not worth it...
Overall I was pleased with my stay but few small improvements and you would be even better.
Finally I was hurt in the town by slippping in the market, I did not know that you have an on site health centre in the building! You should make people aware of this :)

Here for the week. We opted to stay in the Horizon Club floors which are floors 10-12 and have access to the club room. Located close to the night market which is within walking distance. Hotel is well kept as you should expect for a Shangri-La. It has a decent gym with sauna and steam rooms
