I booked and paid for a Horizon concierge room. I arrived at the hotel after 8 PM. Our room was not only NOT ready, but I was downgraded to a regular room on a different floor that was filthy! The carpet had stains all over the room. I have pictures. I requested to move and was finally switched to another room on that same hall. We were still not placed n the room category that I paid for. We also didn't receive the concierge amenities. I had to call and ask for them. When we showed up for breakfast the next day, where it was supposed to be included, we were told it was not. We were humiliated in front of the restaurant while we stood there for at least 15 minutes waiting for someone to confirm that we had breakfast. This caused us to be late for our private tour pick-up. When we finally ate in the buffet area, the food options were plentiful and good. The hallway carpeting was filthy as well and it smelled when walking down the hallways. This was supposed to be a 5* property, and I was VERY surprised about the condition of the hotel, and especially the rooms and hallways. I sell the Shangri-la to my clients as a travel agent, and I was very disappointed as it was one of my first stay in the Shangri-La brand. If this is typical of the quality of the hotel brand, I am not too sure that I can confidently recommend guests to stay here. Here are way too many other 5* properties to choose from. On a good note, I left some items behind by accident. I was contacted by the housekeeping department, and I am patiently waiting for the items I had shipped back to me to arrive. (I did pay for this added service) I appreciated the honesty. The ladies in the concierge lounge were VERY nice and really didn't know what to say about the conditions of the rooms. At one point, I was told that maybe there was a misunderstanding. I am not sure what that means as expectations for a 5* property are always high!

When registering, the deposit was deducted from the card, I left on Saturday morning, and the deposit has not yet been returned. It spoils the impression of the hotel

5 star hotel with Chinese restaurant on the ground floor Great atmosphere with a traditional Chinese style mirror suggests Chef Cooking with wine is imported from China and sold in Thailand.

This is a beautiful hotel full of elegance and class. The staff are friendly and helpful and the chinese restaurant actually has really good duck dishes.

Very big hotel, had Christmas lunch and was rather good excellent staff!

One of the two best 5-star hotel in Chiang Mai city (the othe is Le Meridian). Top quality rooms and services. Nice and surprisingly affordable buffet restaurant. Good underground parking. 10 minute walk from the famous Night Bazaar.

I stayed six nights, back in June, during a conference.
The hotel is conveniently located near the night market, between the river and the fortified old city.
The common areas and facilities are very well maintained. The pool and spa areas are really nice
The rooms are big and comfortable, however in need of some renovation, with all expected amenities for a five-star hotel.

We used several meeting rooms and other facilities during the 5-days conference. The hotel is prepared for all requirements.
Service, as expected in a Shangri-La, was perfect: staff is very helpful and professional: always ready to support.

The hotel was in a great location, just minutes away from the night bazaar. Although situated right in the city, the grounds were full of greenery, which instantly teleported us from the city to the outskirts.

Our overall experience at Shangri-la Hotel Chiang Mai during 23-25 October 2020 were a bit disappointed from what we expected from 5-star hotel. It seem like the hotel was shorten staff to delivery and maintain its standard service same as before COVID-19.

Starting with the check-in date, which we arrived quite late at night, the security guard told us to park at underground parking and when we parked there, it was very confused where or how to go to Lobby since the normal entrance was closed and no sign (well actually there was a sign as A4 size on the door but is that enough?) or staff to help us (I visited the hotel for meeting & dinning several times in last 3 years). Eventually we found out and managed to the 1st floor by using stairs and carried on our luggage by ourselves. And we found many guests who came to check-in late even struggle more by carried their luggage from the parking to Lobby floor at 2nd.

Then there was no reception stand by at the lobby when were there and we had to wait for minutes for check-in process (we noticed that there was no hotel staff at the lobby floor after 10pm during our stayed).

After we checked in to our room, all facilities were working as normal but overall designed and furniture were out-to-date and really need to renovated.

However there are also the bright side as all staffs that we contacted with were friendly and helpful (if we were lucky to meet them), housekeeping service was fantastic, staffs at checkpoint on 1st floor entrance during the day were funny and energetic.

5-stars hotel but restaurant quality is 1-star.
Very poor taste and few choices of food.
Very disappointed to had dinner with family here.

recommended if you're looking to enjoy a luxurious stay in chiang mai at a reasonable price. The hotel is located 20 mins walking distance from the main city in chiang mai. the hotel is surrounded by numerous local restaurants and shops and the hotel has an amazing outdoor pool.

The first time I met the hotel, I had to check it out. The customer service was kind and polite.

I like the variety of food and drinks for breakfast. Appreciate the halal food.
The reception was very good for registration and on leaving.

Have stayed in many chain hotels that impressed here. Full variety of breakfast, excellent quality, 2.5 pm measure in the room is 001. Size in the center of Chiang Mai. Another place where the pm value is over 100 and in the same area.

Staff were lovely polite and very accommodating, rooms were ideal unfortunately we had upgraded to a jacuzzi room but it didn't work for 3 out of the 4 days stay

Very good with stealing. See each other. Each family has secretly eaten.

Arrange the room to be cool, elegant, look good. Every seminar is smooth, cool air is good.

5 star hotel which is located in the city. Buffet lunch that I had wasn't spectacular.

A disgusting place that recommends an elephant sanctuary that is nothing like a sanctuary. This hotel must get a kick back from the owners to keep recommending such a vile place. Shame on you Shangri La, shame on you.

The staff at this hotel was absolutely great! They were all very helpful and pleasant.. The hotel didn't charge us for a lot of things other hotels would charge for Close to the old city and the Saturday and Sunday walk.. Definitely would recommend staying here!

The staff received a kind and attentive service. Especially the entrance was kind and I got a photo together on the last day.
spa is also gorgeous and very good. Room with garden and pool view is spacious and clean with nice interior. I would like to come back again. Thank you very much.

Lanna style is very beautiful. Thank you to this hotel that makes us spend our family time together here. We have never met each other for more than 30 years. We are far away.

Delicious food, seminar rooms, comfortable, good service

Amazing hotel! The only issue we dealt with was electrical outlets going out when we would either use the hair dyer or iron. The staff tried to fix the issue immediately and other than that, great place to stay!

Great hotel in a good location. Close to night market, street food and supermarket - about 5 mins walk. Rooms are well maintained, with all that you can ask for in the toilet. There's a gym, but pool is a little small. Breakfast spread was great!

We went for the lobster sea food buffet. It was amazing. The food was of a very high standard for buffet food.

Great location, old decoration but luxuriuos, friendly and fully service-minded staffs including security guards, front office, life guards at swimming pool and housekeeping. Our family was really impressed with your services.

Excellent service again from the Horizon Club staff led by George. Great food and beverage service from breakfast to happy hour drinks and snacks. Helpful service for arranging transfers and day trips.

Spacious rooms, although a technology upgrade i.e. wireless audio, larger TVs/digital tv services, would be welcome.

It would be nice for a small selection of free drinks in the room as the same drinks are free in the club lounge.

Beautiful hotel. Was at the Nomad Summit. Fantastic selection of food supplied throughout the day. The mango sticky rice was gorgeous. The buffet for lunch was sensational. Only one thing the lattes from the coffee machine did not taste nice.

Wow..I really love shangri la hotel..Chiangmai shang is a great place and their hospitality is awesome. I like their super hardworking house keeping team. They did a splendid job maintaining all the room in good and clean form. I do miss shang during my last day stay. For sure I will be back. For me Shangri La always set a new benchmark in luxury hotel.

From our arrival and check in to our check out, everything was wonderful. The entire Shangri-la team were incredibly friendly and helpful. A special thanks to Ian - FnB Manager and his team for totally spoiling us. The breakfast team catered to my GF needs and as we were celebrating our wedding Anniversary and my husbands birthday, the FnB team arranged some wonderful treats. We will certainly be back in the near future and tell our friends.

Nice place. Close to night bazaar. Lots of cafe and food around. Away from city center. Room service can be improved, floor seem to be not cleaned throughout my 3 night stay. My husband got eaten up by mosquitoes!

The horizon team were so wonderful! They provide a different elevated experience at this hotel. Anyone staying at this property should book a Horizon Club room and lounge and experience to enjoy a comfortable vacation, business stay, breakfast and lounge experience.

What a wonderful experience!
From the reservation to the check-in, from the stay with excellent food to the check-out, everything is only the best. Courteous and friendly staff, excellent ambience, clean and neat rooms and an exquisite cuisine. We are impressed and will gladly tell our friends about this stay.

Room facilities and dining environment are great.
The fly in the ointment is that the lobby and services need to be improved.

The most impressive thing about our stay was the staff. They were very attentive and kind. Our room was average for a hotel with this rating. The location was very good. We loved that so much was within walking distance. Cleanliness is something that is very important to us. We felt that a bit more attention could have been devoted to that.

The Shangri-la resort is terrific. My Gym personal trainer is Sun Just fabulous, he is an amazing trainer, facilities are spotless, showers, powder room, lockers and locker room are all great. Plenty of different machines, about, about 7 treadmills too

Very organised. Good value for money. Loved the club.

The hotel itself is however, a little old particularly, the rooms. I think we had smokers on our floor which wasn't great. The whole floor stank of smoke.

A very safe bet. You will love it here!!! The staff is wonderful and goes the extra mile to make it a pleasant experience. The 2nd floor lobby is beautiful with the pianist as a nice touch. The rooms are spacious and very modern! The pool is awesome and the staff there is also great. Gym is fantastic along with the steam rooms and saunas. 5 minute walk to the Night Market. They also made a few special touches for our honeymoon :) Can t go wrong, highly recommend!
