Schuylkill Medical Center Review

Dumpy ER. Went there because we felt the issue was urgent enough not to want to drive all the way to Reading or Allentown. Never would go here as a first choice. Dirty. Bugs on waiting room floor and one crawled out from under bed in exam room. Furniture all ripped and dirty. Funky smell in air. Air conditioner not working. Hot. Only giving two instead of one star because the doctor and nurses were reasonably nice but that's about the only good part.

Horrible service.
Went to ER. Sat in the waiting room for 1 your. Finally got triaged where they took my vitals, gave a urine sample, and blood. Was told when a room opened, I would b getting a IV, an ultrasound, and catscan.
So ack to the waiting room I went. About 20 mins later got put in a room, Sat there and Sat there and didn't see anyone for 5 hours. Finally had enough and walked out. With NO answers. Not even from my bloodwork or urine. Never got my IV or other testing.

Worst hospital in the world . I'd rather travel as far as i can then to be seen here.

Dont go here unless you need immediate medical care. If you can make it go to Geisinger in Danville 50 miles away. You will thank me.

Took my daughter on to be seen worse service ever told nurse about a tube of blood setting in the room cart nurse ignore it like they did not care at never again

Got off of work the other night and went rite to the hospital I have a tooth infection that gave me massive head ACH and swollen glans that made my neck hurt bad into my chest also was having stomach n back pains i was sick to my stomach I had a fever and high blood pressure spent 5 hrs in the waiting room with 4 other ppl BC they said there was no rooms but we watched 5 ppl get discharged in them hrs we watched nurses walking in n out the building going for smokes ever 20 mins in there phines nd ignoring their jobs. a guy walked in and sat there 20 mins and they took him over the ppl who have been there for hrs one was 29weeks pregnant. Finally I got in a room was told to put the gown on(I never needed it I froze the hole time for nothing) nurse left and never came back doctor came 3 hrs later I told her wat was wrong she looked at me so stupid made rude comments like she had something better to do then do her job. She looked in my mouth said ur fine no decay. But she didn't ever try to look at my wisdom teeth that are in half she didn't even check my neck for the swollen glans she pushed on my belly then said I need to pee in a cup n left I did that and 20 mins later a nurse returns with discharge papers doctor never came back to tell me what's wrong i asked why there was no test being done nurse flat out told me that the doctors stopped BC she found a uti mind u I didn't even go in there for that they completely ignored the infection I have so here i am 2 days later the infection had spread to my other side of my face n I'm in even more pain. N I can't get too a dentist for a month told me if its server to go to the er witch I was already at. This hospital needs to change I will be calling to have this place investigated. They don't even deserve 1 star they are a joke. Don't choose to be a doctor or nurse if u don't wanna help people we out our lives and health in your hands for what to be treated like dirt and not even be diagnosed rite. This goes for the good Sam hospital too.

This is not a facility you want to land in when something major strikes. Only go when injuries are minor. Overall... Nevermind. Go somewhere else permitted you've the time.

Worst hospital ever waiting several hours to be seen my son has a tick burried under his skin and its been 3 hours and has not been seen still thought this place would be better since it changed hands but it hasn't

The staff are very friendly.They do have a sense of humor.Made me very comfortable.I would definitely refer many people here.Especially the staff that works in maternity department.I loved it every day that I stayed

terrible hospital, have been sitting here for two hours waiting for a cat scan to be read which should only take 15 minutes, you would have a better chance diagnosing yourself then coming to this place. The doctors and nurses seem to just be stuck behind there desk, I m not a doctor but I don t think that is what the job entails, the only reason you should come here is if you are brought here in an ambulance

I came in at 10pm into the DR, everyone was very nice and the wait wasn't too long. The place was very clean and smelled pleasant.

If I could give them 0 stars I would! We have my mom in with vomiting, dehydration and a migraine and they haven't even hooked her up to an IV yet!!! It's been 2 hours!!! This place is a joke!!!!

The psychiatric hospital was a horrible experience. If you are looking to receive actual, helpful treatment I strongly suggest going elsewhere. My confidentiality was broken, the staff was rude, the psychiatrist seemed like he didn't want to listen to what I had to say, and I only met with my social worker once. I felt like I would have been better off not going at all.

Sat my grandaughter down on a wet spot of litter. We complained. " last nurse must not have changed it". Ooooh!
My imagination went to all the theories that could have wet a litter.

Horrible my son only a month old had a high fever and we sat in the waiting room from 11pm to 2 am then got taking back and from 2am to 5 am he had never seen a doctor and no one not even nurses came to check on him. Worse services!!!!

Not recommended. Go somewhere out of Pottsville both hospitals are a disappointment.

Looking at other reviews, my experience is probably not a big surprise. Do NOT go to this hospital if there is anything wrong with you. I've had several horrible experiences. First was my grandmother. She had a major stroke and when we took her in to this hospital the ER tried to play it off as a urinary tract infection and send her home. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME? " Nope! We demanded tests and (big surprise) something was very wrong. She had a MAJOR stroke. This ER can't tell a urinary tract infection vs a stroke? If you are forced to use this ER, DEMAND things be done. Demand tests, procedures, etc. If something doesn't seem right, demand demand demand. The nurses and doctors are very rude. They will only cater to people who 'cause a fuss' when they misdiagnose.

Another experience I had here was my own. One year I had a particularly horrible case of the flu. Just afterwards I began to have a migraine. Which... Did. Not. Go. Away. If you know anything about migraines, you know they are debilitating. I couldn't eat, sleep, or work. It was the WORST week of my life. The pain I felt in my head I do not wish upon anyone. I eventually went to this ER because I had no other choice. I had to seek medical help close to home. They treated me like a drug pusher. I basically begged them to help me. They put me on pain medicines, which didn't work (and don't, if you know anything about migraines). I called them later begging them for help, as the medicine didn't do anything. I was told by the nurse that "people experience pain differently and you must have low pain tolerance". Obviously this little girl was just out of high school and never had a migraine in her life... or a headache.. or any type of life experience. The doctors and nurses in person were SOO rude as well. And they were all very young.

To end this story, I eventually had to wait (in agony) for a neurologist to see me. He gave me ONE little pill... and the migraine went away. Claimed that the flu put my migraine on a 'loop' or something. I never understood it but I wanted to kiss him.

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. Take a longer drive somewhere else. I wouldn't go here if I was dying of blood loss. I'd cauterize my own wound with a curling iron and walk to Hershey before I'd set foot in here.

Hospital misdiagnoses and accidents are extremely common on average. Throw in inexperienced staff, rude doctors and nurses, and people who genuinely don't care about you or whether you live or die... and you have a hospital that locals, such as myself, shun.

Staff very rude and ignorant sat in the ER for over 4 hours sent to have a ultrasound was told the technician is home and it could take a hour for them to come in so "just be patient". They would not allow my emergency contact person/sister in to see my ultrasound performed having her wait in a unlit waiting room watching two of the technicians sit around on there phones watching videos instead of doing there job ! Meanwhile telling us how busy they are and I would need to wait patiently for well over two hours in severe pain in separate rooms like we were some kind of infectious criminals ..... the smell of the bathroom n halls made our stomachs queezy smelling like death was upon us ! This will be the last visit to this hospital And certainly my husband and I will not have our child at such a disgusting place. If anyone would like the video I have News,Media,Social Networks of the radiology department doing such a magnificent job feel free to contact us as it will be going viral so we have feedback on what proper care really is defined as !!!! The director of this place on Jackson street really needs to step up there game and supervise what is really going on .....late night !! Both technicians leave for 15 minutes in video go down the hall together n both return together at the same time ?? Potty break together ?? Or what ?? While we still sit here waiting n writing ... more like they knew the phone was recording them while playing music videos n possibly there asses could be on the line they non chalantly duck behind the glass while playing on there phones...

Got completely forgotten about the entire visit. Got there at 7:30pm. Took 30 mins for them to take my urine, another 30 to take my blood, and then went nearly four hours with no updates or check-ins by absolutely anyone despite nurses and doctors constantly walking by the triage room they put me in. I was never spoken to by anyone about my results and didn t find out what the cause of my pain was until 12:15am from the sonographer when I was taken into the ultrasound room. It took until 2am for me to be dismissively given papers for aftercare. Doctors and nurses were rude and condescending and didn t want to give me any answers, didn t even tell me when I could leave and gave me attitude when I asked if I could go. Their level of care and hospitality is nonexistent. This hospital is horrible and I d never go here again unless it was literally the only option I had. It should not take almost SEVEN HOURS just to be given one piece of paper and told to call my family physican on Monday.

Everytime i go to this ER it is always something. They told me i had a pinched nerve but told a previous employer it was a lumbar strain and stuck that on my release with a nerve pinch. Than just recently i have a concussion i am to be basically a bed bug, but i am fit to drive to work 20 miles away? Yeah, ok. Last straw guys should something happen to me this will go to court.

The knowledge they have scares me and that's not a good thing when they can't find the actual cause of what's going on with somebody. Now I just hate saying this stuff because they were all so nice but when you can't see the difference between bronchitis and the starting of pneumonia and that terrifies me. It's truly sad when you hear more bad things than good about a place

Staff couldn t be bothered to look at faxes. I need an emergency refill on a non controlled substance and my pharmacy sent it over at 9 am and now it s 4 and called the pharmacy and received no response. The nurses in the ER are cackling mocking the different patients while on their phones talking about inappropriate things/language. This is not how a hospital should be run. One even said dump soda on the floor and let one of those creatures from maitenence clean it up so sad. People need help. So help them.

If you love being patient while you or your loved one is writhing around in pain, you have reached your destination. 4 hour ER wait, I d like to see you try and top that.

Went to preterm labor, staff very nice and pleasant. Had to go through ER entrance and spoke with ER doctor who was very nice and eager to help me before going to labor and delivery unit. The labor and delivery nurses and staff walked me through everything they had to do to protect me and my baby to make it to scheduled c-section. Able to keep baby healthy and carried to scheduled surgery date.
Had my C-section done here. All the nursing staff very nice and pleasant to have help take care of me and my baby after delivery. The maternity unit was always clean, house keeping came in daily to clean and always asked if I needed anything else before leaving. Easy discharge from hospital with all questions answered. Would definitely return here if needed for any care. Thank you!

Looked at my wound for like 10 min.. gave me antibiotics and a bandage and charges me over 1600 bucks, what a joke!!! Do not go here unless you are dieing
