Extremely disappointed with this office. It was my first and last time visiting.
I actually had a pretty good experience initially (despite waiting 45 min past my scheduled appt time to be seen). It was a simple annual/preventive visit. I saw Dr. Tomeh, he was friendly and nice. He told me that as a courtesy to all their patients, they call insurance to make sure different services are covered 100% before doing them. In my case, he said all the services they would do for an annual were completely covered, so I agreed to it. This included various lab work, an MRI, chest xray, bone density scan (I'm only 30 and thought this was odd but if covered, why not?), ultrasound, PFT, etc. I left thinking wow - I've never had a Dr's office call on my behalf to make sure things were covered, and I've also never had that many tests done on an annual visit. He also asked me to come back in 2 weeks to review, which I assumed was also as a courtesy.
Wrong. I now have over $400 in charges related to an annual preventative visit that should have been 100% covered by insurance. Some of it is due to a mishap between what the office was told was covered when they called Aetna vs. what Aetna actually covers - which is a mix up on Aetnas side, and I get that that can happen. However, the real issue is how UNPROFESSIONAL the office was with getting back to me. I seriously have been calling this office almost weekly since I received my first bill in September and it's now DECEMBER and they haven't resolved the issue. It took almost 2 months before I even got anyone to call me back after I don't even know how many voicemails and messages left with the receptionist. I finally got them to call me back when I told the receptionist I would be coming up there in person to speak with the biller. When I finally got on the phone with someone, we determined the lab work was billed incorrectly (not as a preventative visit) which is why I was billed. A Aetna did tell them some of the preventative work would be covered (not all), so I am battling with Aetna still to get this reprocessed, but will likely still have to pay something for a visit that should have been free.
FYI - the follow up was $150 just for a 5 min visit with Dr. Tomeh to give me my paperwork and tell me I'm healthy. That part I'll blame on my ignorance for assuming it was a courtesy, but I definitely feel deceived.
All in all, I liked Dr. Tomeh, but won't be going back because the billing seemed sketchy and they were impossible to get in touch with and seemed unwilling to help. I would have been far more understanding of the situation if they had just called me back in a timely manner.
