You go to local hardware shops for the convenience and expertise. These guys may not have the most comprehensive selection but they have enough to get most things done around the home, and great advice / suggestions. On the once or twice where I had a tougher challenge they helped me improvise solutions which I highly value. Prices aren't the lowest but again, that's not why you visit a local hardware shop.
Best local hardware store in the area. Open on Sunday.
They are the best-service and selection are phenomenal
All ways very friendly and totally helpful. Pleasure to be their customer
Best selection and service, you will pay Scarsdale prices
Guy in the basement is very unknowledgeable and rude. The basement has all the screws, bolts, drill bits, and other small items needed. The guy who works the basement knows nothing but professes to be an expert, he is always in a bad mood, and is often rude for no reason. The other day he sold me a drill bit that was bigger than the screw, I was in a hurry and just bought what he gave me. I come back 10 minutes later after I realized the bit was too big. Instead of apologizing he proceeded to tell me that it was my fault, that he did not make a mistake, and that I messed up the drilling of a hole. This was all unprovoked, I figured hey big deal let me just get a new bit myself and some new screws in this massive hole he made me drill. I just asked where the screws for metal and the metal drill bits were. He proceeds to try to blame me so I said just give me my screw back and show me where the screws and bits I need are as I can choose myself now. He proceeds to tell me to go to hell. It turns out that the drill bit I needed was sold out and the in my opinion the guy just gave me what was there. I go upstairs and tell the cashier what happened and the guy who I think was the owner comes by and apologizes and gives me a refund for the original drill bit. At the end of the day I will continue to go to this store but I will never trust the judgment of the guy who works in the basement. Just ask him where things are and help yourself, he is too unknowledgeable to provide any real advice.
The guy downstairs is really mean. He does not know anything and claims to know everything. But the store has everything I need and I still like flogging there. The guys in the entrance are very nice not like at the bottom.
Scarsdale Hardware is my favorite place to buy everything from gas grills, to light bulbs and every imaginable household item you might need. The hardware store is ESSENTIAL and Glenn, the owner is selling high quality masks as well as all kinds of items that can help you feel more secure during our lockdown . He keeps his store open seven days a week and is a wonderful source for information if you are looking for a window washer or chimney sweeper. To my amazement, his prices are comparable to the Home Depot but he ll deliver and assemble and do it with a smile. A few years ago when we were having a brutal winter, he called to tell me he had received a new shipment of salt and asked if I wanted him to drop some bags off at my home. No big box store offers that kind of incredible service! And yes, maybe you can buy certain items for less on Amazon but it s wonderful to have such a dedicated business owner who actually cares about his customers!
The classic local village hardware store, pretty much as it was decades ago. Lots of friendly and knowledgeable staff, so it's a good place to go if you need advice or a question answered before you buy. Looks small from the outside but has a basement area packed with a multitude of traditional hardware items.
The service was excellent what I love most they were able to advise you which product is a better one.
Nice to have knowledgeable people to help unlike the mass merchants
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I'm glad we're still able to support local stores like this.
Generally
I know what
I want and can find it quickly. If
I have a problem, one of their staff is available for help. I have known them for 30 years and will use them for an additional 30 years. I recommend them to all my friends and clients.
Walt.
The sales people were extremely helpful and that's such a far cry from being totally alone ar home depot. The selection of products is very good and well thought out.
It is a great local hardware store to go to. If they do not have it, they help you find it. It is a staple of Scarsdale living. Thanks to everyone there. When in need, go there.
Always helpful, convenient, neighborhood hardware store
Helpful and pretty organized space, just a brisk walk and no need for lines and driving to Home Depot.. walking beat the driving time to home Depot. Cheers
Excellent for nuts and bolts and household repair items. Nice folks.
I love this hardware store, they have everything, they are knowledgeable, friendly and great at good old customer service!
The fellas upstairs are great. Nice, helpful, basically what a small "ma and pa" shop should be and needs to be to compete with the big box stores. The fella downstairs is another story. Maybe he's annoyed at being locked away in the dungeon, but he's the opposite of nice and helpful. Stores like this have ONE advantage over big box: they can provide personal service. If you have employees who don't buy into it, you're in trouble
Very professional polite and expert service. Appreciate this place
Nice folks, carry a lot of merchandise for a neighborhood store, parking available, somewhat expensive
Whatever you need, they have it, and they will help you find. Even help you carry it to your car! This is the opposite of a Home Depot or Lowe's. Sure, you pay a little more, sometimes, but you get friendly service, and you bring home the right part, whatever it might be, every time.
Local hardware store. Prices are little bit higher but staff if friendly and helpful.
Helpful and friendly, everything you need and free parking in the back lot.
This is your typical neighborhood hardware store. The owners are extremely friendly. Workers knowledgeable.
Very helpful staff at an old school type hardware store (the kind that has every little thing you can't find at Home Depot).
Reliable local hardware store. Knowlegable staff. Cant complain.
This is THE BEST hardware store I have ever been to. They have a great on-site selection and have done special orders for me as well. The staff is knowledgeable and understanding to those of us who are not necessarily handy . They stand by their products and have delivered larger items (such as water pumps when my cellar was flooding.)
