Scandic Antwerp Review

While the hotel's front desk and lobby are very attractive in design and have recently been redesigned, the rooms are in a very shabby condition: dark, dark carpeting with unsightly stains, heavy dark mahogany furniture - like American chain hotels in the 80s were set up. The furniture, carpeting and bathroom facilities are just like the Scandic Hotel, which used to be in this building. Motorway and in a rather dreary district of Antwerp is less suitable for sightseeing and holidays. Large groups from all over destroy the ambiance in the restaurant and there is excitement and excitement at breakfast. Actually a hotel that does not fit into the van der Valk hotel group. The check-in must be faster and more professional.

Fine and comfortable hotel, friendly and efficient employees. Room spacious and very clean. Breakfast is a pleasant surprise. Connection to the city with tram 24 was disappointing: takes more time than expected. But the hotel cannot do anything about this that De Lijn went from punctuality action to strike.

Was only going to eat before but it was definitely recommended.

The hotel is renovating, we were (despite having paid for late checkout and extra luxurious room), put on the floor where renovation was in full swing. Noise and filth. The room itself was not clean upon arrival; wads of tissues on tables and separate brown stripes and stains on duvet cover. All this despite the fact that the room was cleaned according to the employee. Was offered another supposedly better room which turned out to be smaller and very old. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. There are much better hotels in this price range.
This is not quality, not beauty and the hotel is also not convenient to the center.

furniture and design of the rooms is quite outdated but clean. Breakfast is very good. The choice of the buffet is very large.

Nice new rooms, friendly staff. Breakfast price-quality is not top, but because of corona takeaway, it is not possible to judge whether this is the case in normal times. Definitely recommended!

Nice base if you want to visit the center of Antwerp. Direct tram connection to the center within walking distance of the hotel.

Upon arrival it turned out that the entire hotel is being renovated. Nice for guests who come in six months, but not for us. Much needed, given the rooms are very outdated. Not worthy of Valk. We got a room next to a room that was completely gone and where a jackhammer was working. Asked for another room and also got it but here too it was noisy. Very strange that a sign asks for understanding, but the price is just the same and this was not announced in books.
Showering in a small and slippery bath was downright dangerous and the air conditioning made a lot of noise.

The breakfast was wonderfully tasty and extensive and the breakfast room very nice and modern.
The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and helpful.
A bit far from the center. First walk to the tram and then at least 15 to 20 minutes to the center.

Only pizza and unhealthy food available after 22:00 not even a sandwich

Lovely hotel only slept 2 nights the beds of room 121 were completely sagged on both sides thick pits which is also visible that I am not used to a vd falcon at all for the price we paid compared other people 217 euros 2 nights .Find that such a bed can absolutely no longer be rented out.Breakfast good but just like the other hotels.Live cooking also fine but not super extensive.It was ok but not super.Personnel very helpful and friendly.Door the bed I would no longer choose this hotel. Was it a pity that the sauna was closed that I had not noticed when booking, I might have chosen something else for that price

Slightly dated environment. Time for a major upgrade of the rooms and refurbishing the carpet on the floors. Staff are very friendly and do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. 5 stars based on staff, 3 based on current condition of the rooms, therefore an average of 4 stars!

Upgrading to brand new room was a nice extra. Dinner was great in a nice restaurant! There was a problem with breakfast but this was handled well by Joeij van der Waals after a complaint!

With work on meeting with a hot buffet .... it was delicious ...

The restaurant offers a decent a la carte menu for midrange prices. The food is good quality though, and the service is very friendly. During holidays it can get crowded with hotel guests.

Heating was not working well and is very noisy. Good hotel with several minor problems to be solved. People at reception was nice.

Wonderful weekend in Antwerp.
Stay overnight at van der valk.
As usual, it is good to stay with the Toucan.
Note that despite the fact that the room was nicely clean.
An update is desirable in particular the bathroom, showering in the way too small bath is no longer of this time.

We were organising a dinner with the speakers of our congress, unfortunately there was some mix up on their part and it took the hotel two hours to organise a buffet for 40 guests. It cost us some reputation points

Very good hotel with large rooms. Some of these are currently being renovated. In the bistro you can eat in the evening and have breakfast in the morning. Sufficient parking spaces are available.

Toilet released a stench that went all over our room ....

After previous disappointment I was given a chance again This time a hit !!!! Super friendly service back nicely set table and for the birthday back fireworks as it should be. it is the small things that make the big difference oh yes a drink of the house for the birthday boy. Regarding the food Very good quality of products (please do not change) new in the price of the live Cooking are the drinks plus a glass of Cava included as an aperitif. This time everything TOP we have come back to our decision and give our parties back here. A very small point. Also make sure that small pieces of chicken fillet can be baked for people who do not like to pause. It was a great evening for us all and especially TASTY
