The quality of Van der Valk that I am used to can also be found here. Modern appearance, extensive and delicious breakfast and friendly staff with professional service. Our room was somewhat dated compared to other establishments, but the comfort was no less.

The hotel is nice and has a beautiful lobby and restaurant/bar. The rooms are slightly dated, but still comfortable. I liked the firmness of the bed; seems to be fairly balanced. The pillows are very soft, so I doubled them up for good support. I would prefer to have a top sheet as I am a warm sleeper - there is a bottom sheet over the mattress and comforter with a washable cover over the bed. This caused me to wake up sweaty a couple times a night, but I fell asleep fast after adjusting the covers. The breakfast was one of the best I've had at any hotel, and is well worth the additional cost. The staff I dealt with is friendly and spoke good English. They did not seem annoyed by speaking English, which is always comforting as a foreign traveler. There is a pool, sauna, and steam room. I found these facilities to be clean despite being fairly crowded. The was a shortage of towels, but I believe it was peak time, so it is understandable. I would definitely stay here again, or anywhere in their chain of hotels.

05/04 I arrived after 00.00 and we had to wait 45 minutes until we were checked in.
I want to have another drink and this is not allowed, which I do not understand, but 45min before we are checked in because he does not understand the computer system?
That is not possible. (Next time faster Koen)

Enjoyed a wonderful lunch together with my wife and four daughters. From 12 pm the kitchen is open. It is a neat and fairly chic restaurant with enough space and also a large terrace overlooking the parking lot.

For the children there is a special menu including frikandel, chicken nuggets, etc ... These were served with fries and a salad. The children ate delicious food. In addition, they were able to draw and were allowed to keep the pencils.

The service has received and operated us very correctly and in a friendly way. It was a pleasure - thank you.

Overall, the Scandic in Antwerp is acceptable. The room is clean and facilities are clean, although, it seems many things could use updating (elevators & rooms). The breakfast is very good; a lot of choices and fresh ingredients. The main two issues that I ran into were that in getting laundry done, the laundry service is slow (drop off before 9am, receive next day at 6pm), and they did not deliver it to my room, so I was left to ask at the front desk. The other main issue is that the wifi was a little spotty; there are many times that it seems to kick your device off its network (I'm unsure if it's timing based or not?) without any warning.

In my opinion, it's not the best, but it's not the worst.

Super friendly and pleasant staff, beautiful renovated ground floor, but some dated rooms, but this will also be addressed in the not too long future. D.m.v. You can easily reach the tram in the center of Antwerp. In short, recommended!

One of those hotels where you ask yourself if the owners ever bother trying to stay in their own hotel themselves.
The room was nice and clean, but the airco/heater is unbelievably loud. You wouldn't tolerate such a loud device even in a workplace, let alone a bedroom! So make your choice: get a good night's sleep, or have a warm room.
Also, a drop of oil on screaming door hinges is said to work miracles. Maintenance (or the lack thereof) is the keyword here. I got the impression that the yet unrenovated rooms receive little or no care while waiting for their turn to be renovated.
The restaurant is Ok and cozy, the waiters could be more reliable (forgotten orders for drinks.). The food lives up to VdV reputation and was quite good.

Pros: Very friendly staff, free WiFi, ample (paid) parking available, good restaurant.
Cons: Management is out of touch with their rooms, while this should be the core business of a hotel. No attention to detail.

My recommendation: Ok for a night, look somewhere else for longer stays.
