Today I sat on the phone for about 3 hours and talked to multiple people who rerouted me until finally someone was able to help me. When I finally got to talk to someone who could help me the customer service was beyond awful. The lady I talked to was beyond rude. She cut me off everytime I tried to talk or ask her questions. I wish our tax payer dollars would go towards a system and people who would make our state look better not worse. This is just one of the reasons why south carolina gets a bad refutation.

If you re calling them to ask a question, clear your schedule, and pack a lunch. As long as they re getting a paycheck, they don t care. My heart goes out to people who are struggling and relying on unemployment services. Better times ahead!!
Can t get anyone on the phone or you wait on hold for over an hour and then it disconnects you OR you try and respond to a claim and fax them and the fax is busy or not on line! Really this is 2020 people!
Wish I could give negative stars, what a disgrace to our State. Website is poor, unbelievable wait times to be transferred to nowhere. Individual that answers sounds like they had a 8th grade education and needed to take the slang out of her voice. No help, no assistance and needs to be reviewed for future. Time to fire individuals and hire ones that can get the job done. So happy my taxes and the company I worked for pays insurance for this.

Absolutely horrible service. Stay on hold for hours, finally get someone on the line then they transfer you to nothing. Call again, repeat over and over. Website is difficult to use. 2 months and no benefits paid. The one time I actually got to speak to someone she didn't ask me my name or any information. Just said it would take 21 days to process. I told her its been 42 days and was promptly hung up on. This is a perfect example of why government run healthcare is a horrible idea. There's not need for customer service. Who else are you going to call? Where would you complain? Would they care? I've paid into this system for 20 years. First time trying to use unemployment in my life. Can't even get it processed. Useless is an understatement.
I ve been trying to get in touch with someone regarding a system error preventing me from receiving benefits for a month and a half. All I get is a recording saying they have high call volume and then the line gets disconnected.
The most un-user friendly phone system . No assistance available during working hours . You will never speak to anyone . A giant dodge from actually helping anyone . This just seems to say we don't care . Thanks for nothing .
I ve called a 6-8 times, finally get an answer, then person says let me transfer you to someone who can help you. So I m transferred and no one ever answers, even after holding for 3 hours. I used my friend s phone while holding and finally get through and the person transfers me and I hold until 6:30 pm, and I finally just hang up. I ve been put on hold, indefinitely probably 6 or 7 times. I m feeling helpless and hopeless in the system. They don t seem to care.
I was on hold for 30 mins and then spoke with an agent. I asked her about why the federal benefits were not applied, she said let me pull up your file and put me on hold. She never came back to the line after a hour on hold I hung up. This system is a joke... Only nobody is laughing.
I ve been waiting 2 months for any type of assistance. Went to the SC Works office today 11/01/18 was told I ve done everything correct and the main office hasn t done what they re supposed to. Even sent my pay stubs in hopes of EASLY resolving any issues with DOCUMENTATION and nothing has happened. Thanks government.

Dew did a live webinar for realtors that was very well presented. They answered all questions with respect and provided good information. When I needed to call the DEW office for assistance my call was answered quickly and the representative was pleasant and helpful.

I have been unemployed for over 2 months. Have not received one cent in unemployment benefits yet. It's impossible to talk to a human at DEW. Have tried calling at all hours of the day. At 8 AM, the standard telephone message is already "We are experiencing unusually high call volumes". There is a problem with my account. I need assistance, but it is impossible to get assistance, even after repeated calls. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Had to give one star, otherwise this message would not post. The service I have received (not received) truly deserves negative stars. The worst!
**Please note I feel this department is fraudulent. I believe they purposely set up their automated phone system and website to take down INCORRECT information. (ex: if you select you are able to work - it will record you are NOT able to work). I am going to a lawyer to look into this, I believe a class action lawsuit needs to be started to FORCE the corrupt people of SC to do their jobs with competency and MORALS, since they wont do so on their own. Also, when you try to appeal their fraudulent system, they do what they can to confuse you and you are never allowed to explain yourself or document ANYTHING. This is a CORRUPT SYSTEM and you will be very sorry that you felt you could take advantage of people.
These people are so insanely rude and ignorant. If you call other state departments the individuals hired are competent, kind, and they actually do the job they are PAID to do. You people should be ashamed of yourselves, the low integrity and low standards you have and bring to the SC Department of Employment and Workforce. I can only imagine what you act like when you are at home with your family. I feel sorry for you. To the state: have higher standards, higher educated, level headed adults who don't act like caged animals.
For several days in a row I've been trying to check on my benefits and done a claim today but, I keep getting a message saying the site is down for maintenance between the hours of 11pm to 3am. Why had it been down for so many days with no communication to ya as to why it's extended so far? How do I put in a benefits claim?
The website is awful, says they cannot verify my SSN and name with federal records which is pretty odd because North Carolina was able to. Can't even fully apply without the website crashing. No one ever answers the phone either.
I have called several times. I understand that they are probably understaffed to handle the volume of COVID-19, but what makes it worse is when they don't try to help at all or just give you a B.S. answer to try to get you off the phone after you've held for over 3 hours (sometimes more) to talk to someone. The online portal is limited in what you can do and there is no way to reach out online or file a ticket. You can get someone on social media to respond, but they can only refer you back to calling because they can't actually do anything for you. There is no other way to reach someone right now and after calling and talking to them several times, it's still been 11 weeks with no answer and no pay, even though I received a letter saying I was approved...
Would give zero stars if possible. I have not recieved my unemployment yet for being laidoff during covid-19. I can never get someone on the phone to help, they tell me to hold on for five minutes then tell me they are transfering me to another person.
Their website is down and the phone system is referring people to the website! In a time when we all are facing financial hardships, our government is failing us.
Needed to file a fraud claim. The first time, I was on hold for over a hour, I got a rep and she place me on hold for 30 minutes and then hang up. The second time, I been hold on for another hour. Someone got to do something about this.

Web site for applying for unemployment benefits has problems and the number to call for assistance is ALWAYS busy! There is no way to apply for needed benefits! I believe the state of South Carolina has designed the on-line system to have flaws so the STATE don't have to pay out the benefits. My opinion!

The unemployment rates in SC are low because we can't get our benefits...seems nearly impossible to get my benefits EVERY TIME. I've been waiting for approximately 5 weeks. I'm confused...wondering if they'd hire me because it seems like they are understaffed.

There needs to be someone in this office that can answer a phone. I am really upset, i have called many many times over the week. All i get is an automated response stating that the lines are busy please call back. If they are so busy why not employ people to answer the phones.

Horrible experience. I arrived with my infant and 3 year old daughter. The security guard at the entrance will not let me seat in one of the 4 seats that are in entrance.
I was approved, then they gave me wrong advice, 5 weeks not paid and I can t get anyone on the phone. On hold for 3.5 hours... no one ever came back. How am I supposed to get resolution or payment?
I don't usually write negative reviews. I'm very understanding. BUT, people RELY on unemployment benefits sometimes. I've been diligent and truly spent countless hours working on my ui claims, for 4+ weeks. I'm lucky that I will get through this. I can't imagine how it is for people who are truly on the edge of losing their homes because of this. I'm so angry, and so heartbroken for them.
Don't waste your time even applying, I was denied the first time and I decided to appeal my claim. After 3 weeks of applying for my appeal I received $1,620.00 on a Monday, Tuesday they sent me a letter stating I was denied again. On Wednesday $ 270.00 was deposited in my account. I then called them and asked what was going on. The young lady on the phone said oh no someone "screwed up" she put me on hold and someone else came on the phone and apologized and said she was so sorry must be a computer glitch and I need to pay the full amount back plus taxes I owed for money that was not mine!
Ignore the 2star rating, just a heads up I tried to register on my phone and on a chrome book multiple times on each device, I got as far as setting up security questions and it said " error exception..." and would not go any further, wouldnt accept my security answers.once I tried it on a PC, it went thru no issues.
2016 and employers can't pay them online. they're still sending out envelopes with hand written addresses yet they're too lazy or too ashamed to sign their names to the letters inside. What are we even paying them to do? A complete waste of taxpayer money!
Corrupt infrastructure and system. Misleading information and ambiguous procedures. Staff is rude, combative and unprofessional. They actually close at 4pm, not 5pm as stated online.
After looking at these reviews I was anticipating the same type of negative experience with hopes there is no way a government agency can actually be this horrible. Completely wrong it has been over 5 weeks since my initial claim. My employer fired me with no cause. The customer service line is a joke I ve been waiting for a returned phone call for an entire week. Contacting an attorney today to find out what next steps should be taken in regards to my claim. There is absolutely no way a government office can continue to run like this and not be exposed to the right people.
I have called MANY times and always get a recording that they are too busy to take my call, to leave my number and they will call me back. They have NEVER called me back. I'm getting ready to report them to the BBB.

Every time I called it would say it was transferring me but then it told me to call back another time and would just hang up. I am not usually one that even makes complaints but this is unacceptable. You give them all the information they ask for. You are totally honest with all their questions and truly deserve to receive benefits. When you call about the claim they don t give you any helpful information. They said the reason my benefits were being delayed was because I quit my job. Actually I m on a four week summer shutdown and have called my employer to learn that they have not been contacted by unemployment services so where is the quitting my job coming from. I m being told to keep checking the website and nothing ever changes. Couldn t they contact my employer and find out I didn t quit. I m depending on this money. Horrible service
I filed a report against my last employer who still has not paid me my last paycheck, it has been 6 months. All these people did was fine them $300. I can't take the violet touch to court because it cost $65 for me to file, and I only have $5 in my account AND there is still no guarantee i will ever see my money. It is disgraceful and disgusting to allow employers to get away with all of this. I know that I am not the only one who is having this problem with the violet touch cleaning services, but because of what happened to me, she says why bother waiting time.
It did take a VERY long time to finally reach a human...7 weeks...when I did it was a very good experience. Denver, Demonica and Nigaya were very helpful and were knowledgeable. They patiently guided me from a state of serious frustration and fear to one of confidence that my situation was taken care of. Thank you all very much for what you are doing as I realize you have probably one of the most stressful jobs there is!
