If I ever have the opportunity to be able to follow a performance in this house, I will definitely do so. I would really like to hear what sound experience this visually impressive opera house can lead to. My tour was excellent with a humorous woman who contributed a lot of background information. But convince yourself of the splendor and glory of the masterfully executed illusions there. For only 10 you will be introduced to the world of a world-class opera house.

We had a wonderful tour. The opera is impressive inside and out. If you are in Dresden, the 10 Euro p.p. invest in leadership. Next time we will definitely visit a performance. Tickets are between 30 and 140 euros.

Theaterplatz is located northwest of the Old Town. Usually, tour buses come to this place and from here we can see almost all the most important places in Dresden. In the middle of the square there is a statue of the king of Saxony, Jan Jerzy Wettyn sitting on a steed. The square is located between Zwinger, the building of the Semper Opera, and the Cathedral Church of St. Trinity.
Opera (Semperoper) is the first monument as we will see in the square. The first opera building erected in this place was the royal court theater in the years 1838-1841. In 1869, the building burnt down. In the years 1871-78, the opera was rebuilt for the second time. The building received a rich sculptural decoration. During the raid on Dresden on February 13, 1945, the building was bombed and completely burned. After the war, the ruins were provisionally secured. It was not until 1968-1976 that studies preparing for reconstruction were carried out. On February 13, 1985, the opera was given for the third time.

It impresses with its architecture, interiors and, most importantly, the highest level of performances! The acoustics are incomparable!
An interesting history of construction and restoration.

I had a guided tour in English and it was wonderful! My guide was very personable, fluent, and open to answering any questions posed! The opera house itself is gorgeous! Lots of fascinating history to learn about from it as well! Once you enter, you can hang your coat and bag for free. But to take any photos of the inside of the Opera House, you have to purchase a photo license for 3 euros. I definitely suggest this activity, especially on a rainy day!

A visit to the beautifully restored Semperoper is a must during a visit to Dresden. The tour is worthwhile, if the budget is there, but the visit of an event is advisable. Qualitatively excellent and even relatively cheap compared to other comparable houses, eg Opera House Vienna or Milan Scala.

Cards purchased directly from the Opera were issued with the wrong date. In the context of the intervention at the same sales lady, we got only the answer: "is their problem if they do not control the date More

We were here to watch the Magic Flute . That was a wonderful experience. Great architecture and fine culture. Even with the booked vouchers, everything was very straightforward. Very soon again dear Dresden!

Very nice opera house, definitely worth a visit, I've seen many ballet performances here and was always thrilled by the staging. Tickets for marginal places from which you still have a very good view are available from as little as 10, you can include them in a weekend trip without losses and it is really worth it. The offers for students are also very good and recommended.

Have on Saturday, 8.8. participated in a guided tour at 11.00 a.m. The lady who showed us may be very knowledgeable, but unfortunately only half of it was understandable during the greeting and introduction in the foyer. The mask swallowed a lot and the superimposition of the acoustics by a second group did the rest. The multiple, simultaneous stay of several groups occurred repeatedly and did not contribute to the enjoyment of the building! The guide in the auditorium was aware of the superimposition of the spoken word with reference to the great acoustics ("foreign hearing").
Equipping with a language organization and better coordination of the locations would have been helpful. Overall not professional !!! What a shame

Amazing

If you need to utilize a restroom don't plan to do so inside the opera house before the tour begins regardless of what tour operators tell you. I was twice told to wait as long as it isnt "urgent" for the tour guide to direct me to the restroom. The tour guide again said, prior to the start of the tour, to wait only to announce to the group that anyone using the restroom could do so but the tour had to begin ... so in other words, miss the tour. He then proceeded with a literal eye-roll approach to anyone who "would need to use" the restroom. Poor handling of the tour and a sour note to an otherwise pleasant ticket purchase experience.
The English tour guide, Thomas, is an unpleasant person. If he is your guide, my advice would be not to book the tour. Between his monotone delivery and the limited access to the venue ... the group I was in was not even given time or location to take photos of the main hall ... simply not worth the expenditure or the time you'll devote. The majority of the experience will be in basic rooms/hallways with a film shown or monotone delivery. There was no mention of a photo license(?) needed as mentioned in another review nor was there signage restricting photos. My experience was simply poor handling and a poor tour guide.

A very unusual opera house with a Don Giovanni performance that is well worth seeing. The level of cast was appropriate for the ambience. Only the relatively high entry price clouded the experience, but only slightly.

I was on the occasion of our Christmas party at the Semper Opera House. The nearly 60 minute tour was interesting and very worth seeing. Definitely recommended for tourists and of course locals.

We "only" had one tour on Saturday lunchtime. Our guide was very committed and competent - I (as a cultural bastard) really enjoyed going back into the history of the building.
Although some areas were being renovated for the new season, it was an extremely exciting and extremely entertaining tour. Unfortunately, I no longer remember the name of the guide.
