Saxon State Opera Dresden Review

A must for visitors to Dresden
Family friendliness. World class musicians and singers.

Of course, it always depends on what is being played, but so far I've always liked it a lot. Sleeping Beauty - the ballet by Tchaikovsky was now on, superb!

Booking a tour of the Semperoper is absolutely great. The lady was very friendly, absolutely informed and gave us a great historical impression-Duration 45'min is for a tour also perfectly fine and adequate.

The performance was great, a wonderful young ensemble. My daughter-in-law and I were thrilled.

Only take an English guided tour. The stage was under construction because it was in August... but the tour is going on for a long time here and there, so if you stay more than one night, invest. It was possible to make a reservation right at the entrance on the same day.

A visit to a play is definitely a great experience!

We have been to the Dresden Semper Opera several times. Wonderful ambience in a sophisticated atmosphere. Fantastically beautiful. It is always a pleasure to be there.

The Semperoper in Dresden is the opera of the Saxonia State Opera Dresden, which has a long historical tradition as an opera court in the state in Saxony. The Staatsoper Dresden is located on the theater square in the historic center of Dresden, close to the river Elbe. Its name is a tribute to its architect Gottfried Semper. Throughout history, the current one burned and was built in the same place. The shows held here are very disputed, if you are interested, buy in advance.

Were to the musical 'West Side Story' in the Semperoper. Quite, really great. Was a great performance and also a great orchestra.

Quite stunning interior if you get the opportunity to see a performance.

A beautiful opera. We were not there for the show, but we went through a tour. We had a nice guide. It was very informative and and just nice to look at. Unfortunately the waiting times to get in there are pretty long. But it definitely pays off to have seen the Semperoper at least once from the inside. If you like, you can buy a photo license locally to be able to take pictures in it.

We were in the song recital by Michael Volle.
He is one of the most prominent baritones of the present and known for his Wagner roles. Here are serious songs from Mozart to Schubert to Brahms, outstanding. The audience was excited.
But: The evening was unfortunately only sparsely visited. About 400 listeners lost themselves in the opera. Too bad. A little more advertising in the press would probably have done the whole thing well. Otherwise a nice evening.

A beautiful place, a must for every Dresden visitor. You can only visit the opera, but a performance whether it is an opera or a concert is definitely worth it!

A must, both as a building, as well as a venue.
Also noteworthy is the unmistakable positioning against pegida! My respect.

The Semperoper is something very special. Back in the time of August the Strong you can enjoy top-class art. Highly Recommended!

You should have seen it! Would be nice to sing there

It annoyed me that these outrageous musicians just started to vocalize while I talked to my neighbor.

One of the most beautiful operas in Dresden and definitely worth a visit.
Just as praiseworthy to mention are the tours in this opera. Here you have the opportunity to learn more about the builder and his illusion. Let yourself be surprised, because sometimes nothing is as it seems.

I wish I could have gone inside this gorgeous edifice and witnessed a performance! Beautiful from angle from the outside and am sure it must be as majestic from the inside. Spent a while in the open space in front as the sheer beauty of it holds you for a while

Fantastic and historical atmosphere. It's worth a visit!

Beautiful opera building. Would like to visit inside someday. As with the other of Dresden main attractions, it's located in the old city and it made perfect sense to stop by here between Dresden Castle and Zwinger Palace.

Umbringt a tour of the Semperoper book, worth seeing!

We were here for the musical from Beauty and the Beast. It was a great evening and the Semperoper is simply a masterpiece!

Why only 2 stars?
Quite simply because .... extremely unfriendly staff. One should know before you run around the opera x times and in vain at the main entrance is that the tickets are in a good 25 meters away back of a cafe to acquire. No matter if for a performance or a simple visit. In my opinion too overpriced, you have to buy a photo license, if you want to take pictures in the opera. Incomprehensible!!! Whether the stories told by the tour guide is true is set. The opera itself is beautifully restored.

An insane building ... A tour is a must ..... The history clearly shows, 2 burned down, 1 flooded ... Still standing ....

A place full of history, which one should have seen. A successful reconstruction of the destroyed Semper building in the 2nd World War.

As a chronically ill person, the employee, a short, stocky lady, exposes you to the entire group of visitors and insults you as a greeting. However, the lady's PSA is not suitable for protecting visitors from covid. Doesn't work at all. Other tour guides in the house are much more competent.

Impressive building, great performance of Caesar in Egypt, civilian prices. A must have for Dresden.

It is unbelievable what was rebuilt there ... you have to see.

We were at the Semperoper for the performance "The Nutcracker". Very nice house. We were at the top and had a very good view of the stage and orchestra. And the acoustics were also excellent.
