The Semperoper is an opera house designed by Gottfried Semper, from which the building takes its name. The building stands prominently on Theatreplatz and dominates the square. It's built in a mix of Baroque, Renaissance and Neoclassical. The latter two styles being visually more prominent on the exterior, especially the Corinthian columns, supporting the pediment and unusually for something that is not a triumphal arch, topped with a Quadriga. Although the Quadriga is ridden by Dionysius and pulled by panthers.

The opera house is.one.of the landmarks of Dresden and you'll be hard pushed to miss it. It's worth seeing.

Unfortunately only seen from the outside, but still very impressive, especially the design and the symmetry. It is always amazing how far one could combine architecture, statics and construction methods at the time and put together such a project without a crane, excavator or other aids.

A guided tour is worthwhile and in connection with a guided tour of the Old Town for a total of almost 20 Euro you will have a perfect overview of Dresden's most important sights! Just as praiseworthy to mention are the guided tours in this opera. Here you have the opportunity to learn more about the builder and his illusion. Let yourself be surprised, because sometimes nothing is as it seems

Although I was not inside, I viewed the opera well enough from outside to give myself an opportunity for rating. It is magnificent and beautiful architecture achievement. This opera is not so full of different decorative details as the one in my hometown, although they were built by the same author, but this building looks no less beautiful and impressively with its solidity and grandeur.

A great building. From the outside, as well as from the inside (very good guide). Considering the setbacks the opera had to endure during the war and the floods, today it is all the more beautiful on the spot. Unfortunately, I have not been able to watch an operetta or other performance here, but this will be made up for. An architectural masterpiece.

Beautifully and stylishly renovated, a very interesting tour of the opera with lovingly presented details of the building history, an evening with La Boheme in a solid cast and beautiful set design - all this makes a visit worthwhile and recommendable.

We as non-daily operas (musical rather) found it very nice. Price was also very good for very good visibility (first row second place). We saw Carmen and it was very nice.

It is a classical and small theater
Because the seats are lined up in a row
I can seat only from both ends (there is no passage in the center)
Sound of sound was good near stage, too
The correspondence of the staff is also good

Guided tour way too expensive (11 ) for what you saw. We saw 3 rooms and a movie as the rest were being restored. I think that for this price you should have an escape plan so that you can see something for your money.

Beautiful, one of the most beautiful landmarks of Dresden, everything very elegant inside. There are lots of stairs to walk inside, but there are also lifts for wheelchair users, there are small bars on each floor for drinks and small snacks

Imposing Opera House of clear neo-Renaissance matrix with neo-baroque influences, faces off in a magnificent dance of beauty and daring with the complex overlooking the Hofkirche and the larger Residenz. Practice the possibility of a guided tour of its interior which is always the best way to discover a palace, its curiosities and its treasures.

Definitely do a tour! Although I'm not the biggest opera fan myself and I do not care much about classical music, a tour is really worth it. She is very interesting and with about 45 minutes length very entertaining.
Even better, of course, is the opportunity to see a live performance there. The atmosphere in this historic building alone is worth the money.
The Semperoper is a must when visiting Dresden!
