Government of Kerala set up a Society - Electronic...

Government of Kerala set up a Society - Electronics Technology Parks Kerala (ETPK) - in 1990 to attract technology driven industries to Trivandrum and rest of Kerala. IT / ITES Industry was more or less unknown at that point of time. ETPK set up the first Technology Park in Trivandrum, with 50 acres of land taken from University of Kerala and 92 acres of acquired land, totalling to 142 acres.

The first building in the campus was completed in 1993 and since then Technopark has not looked back. In all the four Phases together Phase I - 142 acres, Phase - II - 86 acres, Phase III 92 acres and Phase IV (Technocity) - 460 acres, Technopark today provides employment to about 55,000 Techoes. With ongoing expansions, this employment number is expected to nearly double to 1.00 lakh by 2022.

Though, Trivandrum and Kerala have not kept pace with the frenetic pace of growth of IT Industry in Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad, Technopark has made a very significant contribution in establishing Trivandrum as a Tier II IT Hub, possibly within the first 10 positions - All India.

Major Tech Companies - TCS, Infosys, Tata Elxsi, Ernst & Young, UST Global, Quest, Nissan Innovation Hub, Allianz, Oracle, Envestnet, etc all have their presence in Technopark.

The State Capital, Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) has transformed from a Pensioner's Town to a bustling Tier II City, thanks to the growth of Technopark
