I've been coming here every year for a church retreat. By September the water is on the cold side. The food and rooms are a bit Spartan, but makes for a nice retreat from civilization. The camp staff are pretty hands-off, so make sure there'll be enough for you to do while you're there.

I had a horrible experience in August 2016.

FYI, prospective campers should be aware that your name will be scanned against the Sex Offender Registry before embarking to the camp.

Our church group opens the season every year on Memorial Day weekend before the camp is in full swing, do I can t speak to programs. The setting , staff, and food are all fantastic! Great kayaks and canoes. The cabins are rustic but great, though the beds are a bit firm if you have an old body. Bring a pad!

Beautiful, rustic YMCA family camp. Cabins along the lake shore, dining hall food service, swimming, boating, tennis and more. Most campers are returning visitors, many having visited each summer for decades.

A great getaway into Lake Winnipesaukee, especially for families. I've been going most summers since I was a child. It's not exactly a camp, as you get a cabin, but it is still rustic. For food there is a common dining hall. There are a large number of recreational activities and many programs for children and young adults at all age levels. Also, Sandy Island is like a small village with a distinct feeling and culture that can vary week by week, as many campers return to the same week each summer. Sandy Island has been a recreational camp site of increasing development going back to the 1890s, and is run by the YMCA of greater Boston.
