Sketchy area, lots of sketchy people, overwhelming stench of stale cigarette smoke. Not a pleasant place to be.
Sketchy area, lots of sketchy people, overwhelming stench of stale cigarette smoke. Not a pleasant place to be.
Rooms are run down and out dated. The wallpaper was falling off the walls and the bed caved in towards the middle. The price is very high for what you get and the staff were not pleasent.
Thanks for letting me using the parking lot as a meeting point!
Great water pressure in showers, friendly service. Buffet was poor.
Was sceptical at first but really nice stay. Staff was great, pool was nice, room was clean.
The room was spacious and decent. Bathroom was a little dirty. However the maid did not take our tip. Very odd.
I really like this place
With in the first hour of being here I won 140.00 off of 20.00
We had dinner at the buffet, it was ok supposed to be seafood Friday there were a few seafoods out the clam strips were hard and over cooked, the cod was greasy, the prime rib was cold and so were the steamed clams.
Wish I could have left a 0 star rating. The Sands Regency staff bold face lied to my wife. When we complained about it, the staff was rude and argumentative. We were offered a $40 credit on our $236 room. The lie was about the hot tub. Staff said it was open. No problem. Upon arrival we found the hot tub had been PERMANENTLY closed. (As was the parking garage) Relaxing in the hot tub was the cornerstone of our trip. No management was available. They said management would call us. They did not. Don't waste your time and money at the Sands Reno. It's gone downhill. WAY downhill.
Really great! Was clean and had nice rooms. Super affordable and free shuttle service back to the airport !
I need to remodel their getting old and their rooms are starting to really show it
First room had no towels, varying water pressure, and toilet didn't flush. That's fine, it was only one night. Got a second room about a week later and it was better. Don't forget your toothbrush because they don't provide you with one and make u buy from gift shop that doesn't open till 8. Food options are good, but hotel has a layer of filth and you never feel like clean. Even when calling to request new towels the guy on the phone doesn't sound like he cares hangs up and a few minutes later a knock at the door and a creepy maintenence guy shoves two towels at me without cracking a smile. Guess it is a cheap casino hotel...what else can I expect?
The front desk attendant was very crass..no room service, food we ordered was nasty and the forgot our garlic bread which comes with their Horrid Spaghetti and meatballs dinner ($11 wasted) aaaaand to top it off the housekeeping lady walked into our room at 9 something in the morning without knocking or saying anything.. She had no reason too walk in BEFORE CHECKOUT AT 11AM.. So no don't stay overnight at this place!! They still owe us the $ 75 inflated hotel fee for a $27 hotel room!!! Below - pics of cold nasty $12 wasted meal..
One entrance to the first floor lobby, because the first floor is a casino, so it is smoke, but also through the arrangement of the casino, in order to reach the elevator, the items in the room are very old, especially the air-conditioning is not windy so hot.
Had a great time, personnel great! Too bad we couldn't enjoy the pool because of the smoke.
Best place Ernesto, casino ( )'s Phelar(spelling?) wonderful Lady does all the parties for customers
Awful stay in the hotel. Buffet eating was the worst I have ever had. Maids woke us up 3 times the day we were to check out. Didn't even ask to stay late. Who would want to.
Went to visit the farmer's market but it didn't have many vendors.
Worst customer service ever.. Mina the hotel reservation manager was so rude my friend called in a reservation for us and they denied it because it was under my friends name, after we drove in a huge storm and I called the night before to make sure and was told no problem I get here and I was unable to check... VERY POOR SERVICE I REALLY HOPE THE MANAGER ABOVE GET CONTACTS ME And makes this right....
Worst prime rib i ever had in my life and the motell reeks of marijuana
room was large and comfortable but a little dated. the bathroom could of been a little cleaner as there was hair. bed was comfortable. The buffet had very limited choices however... the tbe tbone steak was almost as good as the one we had at a spendy steak house the night before. very good! The deserts were rather good as well!!the red velvet pie... amazing!!
On the floor we enjoyed the table games, friendly dealers and fast service of drinks.. plus they keep them coming. Make sure to ask that they do not use the Well liquor in you drink and then the drinks are very good!
Mel's original diner is a good place for late night eats. Lots of interesting characters at the Sand's.
The hotel room is still very clean and tidy, although it is a bit old but not bad.
Not flashy or elegant but good for the low price and excellent location. I've stayed many times because of the value.
Great place for the money. Downtown Reno is in walking distance. Just a few minutes away.
They really deserve a zero. Check in was horrible. Everyone in line had problems checking in. The staff was rude and condescending. Kelli in particular was obnoxious, rude, and made thing's unnecessarily complicated and insulted my mother and myself. We have stayed here before, but will not be staying again. Maybe if they taught their employees to show some respect and courtesy, there wouldn't be this many problems.
Furthermore when we finally got to our room, it was filthy. Trash on the floor and the bathroom had clearly not been cleaned. It was disgusting.
Other than Mel's diner and possibly the Copa I'd recommend eating somewhere else. Rooms are nice but it's location makes the place notorious for prostitution and drugs being handled right near the place. The buffet has been a letdown Everytime I've been there. But a plus is that they have a bingo hall if that's your thing.
I was surprised how comfortable it was, especially since the reviews are not clear .. I have been several times in Reno and for the price this hotel is unbeatable!
Food and gamblen I recommend the Silver Lagacy, only about 200 meters away.
Edit.:And of course there is Free Wifi!
I really love it there Im hoping me and my family could stay here
The sands is probably one of the least, and most depressing places in Reno. We stay there every year while travelling for a conference in October. Without fail, every aspect of the hotel seems to be hilariously terrible. Highlights of this year are: 1. Having to run the hot water for 30 minutes in order to take a tepid shower. 2. Cleaning service put my toothbrush in the sink. 3. Cleaning service removed the empty roll of toilet paper, but did not replace it. 4. Walked over to the pool that was closed.... No mention it was closed online, or anywhere in the hotel...
I booked a room online and at the front desk was told I still owed $101 more. I couldn't use my bank debit until I was verified by paperwork. So, I paid online by a reservation Co. that was not honest.
Couldn't find a Jet, Couldn't find a G.E.C.K.
Did find Lots of loose women.
Had a drink and played some slots. Very nice hotel. Stayed years ago. Rooms are very nice.
I did not like it, I had to go through the smelly casino to smoke tobacco and other weeds, with my four granddaughters. The room with the damaged air, we reported it and they did not give us the proper attention, anyway .... bad night!
I am in my 50's now worked there when I first turned 21 boy the place has gone down bad, customer service, food stayed there four days with my dad and the hole time all we did was sleep there after the first day
It was okay little dirty little run down and there was a lot of transients in the casino other than that it was a mediocre place at best
Affordable, friendly and great location. Will defiantly return when wet come back.
Highly disliked my stay here.
I paid to get a nights rest only to be woken up at 3 am by them vacuuming a room for half an hour. I called the service desk to complain about this and they told me they could not do anything about it. So ridiculous. Never staying here again...Advice to Sands Regency: Have some respect for your customers.
I don't like the Sands Recency. They're a fine casino, but I have had nothing but bad experiences with their customer service and management.
Rooms where spacious and clean. Staff was nice. We ate at Mel's dinner and they had great food.
The room was clean but fairly run down. The casino downstairs is filled with smoke. There's no way to get to your room without walking through it. The Wifi is slow and there is no complimentary breakfast. Overall, it was an average hotel stay not worth $100+ per night.
A great venue for all meetings and events. A great esoteric.
Sands is dirty and gross. We decided to eat at Mels... bad idea. Good service but the food is horrible. We had 5 people with us, the Ruben was soggy...bleu cheese dressing was horrible....someone got an egg skillet that was slimy and disgusting. Not a good experience at all.... never again
Mel's had very fast service and it was busy while I was there too
Enjoyed my visit with friends and a night out. We closed the evening having ice cream at Mel's.
I was bitten by bed bugs. The room did not have a microwave or a water heater.
Over all The Sand's great. We stayed Sat- Mon. Although i had a great time I did take 2 stars off because the buffet was a huge let down. The food and dessert was dry except the prime rib.
We prepaid for our room when we booked the reservation. They didn't hold our non smoking reservations and wouldn't refund our money.
Main restaurant is not bad. Not the best foods, but better than fast food. Cashiers cage is on the opposite side of the building, so you better be able to walk.
Be very careful paying at the Cabana cafe in this building with your credit card. My bill was 10 more than what it showed on the ticket. I tipped $1.00, not $10 on a 4 dollar bill.
Other than this negative experience, things here are more reasonably priced compared to other places in Reno. They're doing renovations so room rates are inexpensive. Casino was ok, some days it can get extremely smoky. There are not as many slots/tables as other places but they have a large and (smoky) bingo room. I can't handle too much smoke so it wasn't very pleasant for me.
The room was large and the bathroom reasonably clean. No reasons to complain. There's no fridge in the room which seems to be the norm in Reno.
Rooms were nice and service was great. Except he cocktail waitress with gift Bob cut. She was rude. The water in our shower never stayed a consistent temperature. It either froze you or burnt your skin off. No matter what the setting was.
Went with a charter group of 45 ppl. rooms where not ready for 5 hrs after check in... Management wanted us to stay on the bus for the 5 hrs. Even after the 5 hrs room where dirty many where missing towles.... customer service was awful, a majority where rude... not all but a majority. dont order a drink half the time you won't get it... don't play bingos unless you are a pro or the employees will talk to you more or less like your stupid.... Mel's dinner was the best place to eat & were friendly
Meet a friend from California and had a really nice time
The sands was good. The employee were nice. The coffe was gross at the cabana. The shower needed to be cleaned. But over a it was good the location is ok.
Don't stay at The Sands!
At the entrance was a homeless guy loitering. Upon entering I was taken back in time to a 70's sleaze bar. We had to walk through the dirty smoke filled gaming tables in order to check in. At check in there was a homeless couple trying to get a room. I noticed the clientele was drastically different from that of Circus Circus. I did not feel safe at the Sands like I did at Circus Circus.
We requested a non smoking room, located on a non smoking floor. I couldn't wait to get to it and take a shower to get the smoke off of my skin and out of my hair. I literally smelled like a smoker.
Our room was nice sized but very dated. There were rips in the wallpaper, mold stains along the tub, and the dressers had pieces of the laminate coming off. The fire sprinkler had tape or wet toilet paper wrapped around it.
There were no washcloths just towels. An old hair dryer and no in room coffee. If you wanted that you had to go downstairs.
We checked in at dinner and were so hungry. The restaurants looked very dated, and although were "nonsmoking" were on the casino floor. We got a pizza and stayed in our room.
All was well until 11pm when someone started smoking and it came into our room (We were on a non smoking floor). We couldn't wait till morning so we could leave.
We got out of dodge bright and early, never looked back.
If I have to stay in a casino again it will be Circus Circus. The Sands was dirty, uninviting, and drew the kind of people you see in alleyways.
Great value casino. It's close to the strip and has a nice rustic feel.
It was nice. Big room. Clean. Shower was a bit weird handle was loose and curtain barely covered lip of tub so water wouldn't splash out.
Slumlike rooms, horrible beds&sheets, Smokey casino. Non refundable 150$ for nightmare inducing rooom.
Hotel was dirty. The pool was dirty. My daughter got bit by some kind of bug. It was a large round inclusion on her leg the size if a 50 cent piece. Took 5 months to heal!
The worth experience ....I had two complementary nights I made reservations four days in advance when I get there they gave me a handycap room shower didn't work it's the bed's we're super hard Will never stay there again
This hotel shouldn't even get one Star. It stunk so bad from cigarettes when you walk it was pretty unbearable. The room was freezing. I had to wear my coat during the night. Parking was way out back. No Bell service. The coffee shop didn't have any non dairy options. It was the worst hotel I've stayed at in years. Never never never would I recommend this place. If sleep in my car first. Safe the $100.00.
We arrived and the service sucked. The manager had poor customer service skills. Very rude. The room was dirty and we did not have hot water for showers. This place has gone down hill in the last year.
Food was pretty good...i appreciate the fact that the server( who looked tired and frazzled) still had the ability to put a smile on her face and did great with our order. She checked on us a number of times. She was even able to put her smile back on after dealing with what appeared to be a drunk and very rude customer.
Friendly staff. Clean casino. Could use music more like what they play at Mels diner instead of the stuff played now.
People 40+, midrange everything for this type of venues
We walked through the Sands and then ate breakfast at the Mel's Diner there. We had the steak and eggs special. It was amazing. We would definitely stop for breakfast again!
