I went to San Jose Job Corps back in 1994. The old location was at 201 South 11th Street. I recall moving into the new location at East Hills Drive when it was brand spanking new. I think the facility cost 8 Million to build. I recall many people scratching their heads (Including myself) at the crazy color choices for the buildings. Anyway, I was with San Jose Job Corps for two years. All my classes were offsite at Central County Occupancy Center. (Computers, Electronics, Electrical) Some went there for Automotive for SAE certification and the like. Some for culinary arts. In the present, the center s name is known as Silicon Valley Career Technical Education Center.

There are on site classes at Job Corps for clerical and accounting jobs (And others I cannot recall). I recall that the clerical training helped a friend get into San Jose TCU. He eventually landed a job with AAA in Stockton Ca. (No longer in operation)
Anyhow, for the amenities, the San Jose Job Corps has separate dorms for the males and females. Each room has 3-4 beds. There are multi person bathrooms and showers.
There is a decent sized cafeteria, and I recall there was a recreational room on site. There would also be off sight activities on the weekends. You can leave the facility on weekends if you secured a weekend pass.

There is security, and an on sight officer. It is a very safe place.

Anyhow, after my two years was up, I received an allotment check for $1100 to help me find a place to stay. I was able to use the facility to create a resume and look for a job.
I eventually found a job thanks to the help of the San Jose Job Corps.

I have allot of fond memories at this facility.
This is a great place to get you steered in the right direction!
