This place is great! It is multi-story and has all types of artwork here, from ancient Egyptian reliefs, to Greek/Roman sculptures, oil paintings and carvings, and modern and contemporary art pieces. It is a little pricey, but they have discounts for students, vets, etc.

I'm not usually one to visit a museum but this place was nice and a good spot to hide from the rain when I was in town. Friendly staff except for one girl who gave me attitude because I browsed my way into a "special" exhibit and would have to pay more money to venture any further. She wouldn't tell me what it was or any information other than "if you don't know about it then it's probably not for you". What? Ok I won't spend more money then.

It's very educating and has beautifully displayed statues and artifacts from history. Its dim and quiet environment coupled with the benches is perfect to take notes, draw, and research in each exhibit. Admission price is high for regular adults but if you want to learn about our artistic past then it's definitely worth it. Been here twice already.

Great exhibits, mostly historical with a lot of neat and interesting facts of information. You'll find a lot of world history and artefacts here and the environment is nice and laid back. Discount for college students which is always a plus!

I happened upon a free guided tour during free hours and it was a refreshing way to see an art museum. Really enjoyable, in particular the Chinese, Egyptian and Roman collections. And one of the only in-tact send Mandalas in the US :)

Excellent museum and went during a special where they let military in for free. Very clean and the air conditioning was nice on a hot day. Everything is separated into geographical locations. Many cool exhibits

I'm a nature lover, and a liberal heart. I've been to the museum of history and science in New York, the Huntington Library in Pasadena and many other notable museums. This one in San Antonio bored me to death.
We went in October after reading from social media that they'd have a unique one of a kind Halloween display. That turned out to not be true.
If you've been in one art museum you've been to them all trust me on that one and save your $20 admission fee. The SA zoo is $21. Money better spent

Can easily cover the whole museum.

Excessive amount of Chinese artifacts (2 separate floors). I would love to see more of Native American artifacts and expanded Texas art section.

Beautiful museum and I specially enjoyed the japanese collection. Athough it wasn't that big, the information on the works themselves was well written and detailed. Both parking and entrance is free on tuesday, but it wasn't awfully packed. Would recommend for a day with friends/family.

I like that this museum always seems to be in a state of transition. They appear to always be working on the next art installation. Bonus round fun that Sundays from 10 to Noon and you get in free! FREE! Free and art are the two best words in the human language (except, of course for words "Free beer") Anyway, on one side they have amazing Egyptian, Roman, Greek, Chinese, Japanese and Pacific Islander art. The other side features Texas art and modern art. I love the reuse of the historic building, the cool glass elevators and the all around vibe of the collection.

Really enjoyed the art they say they have the most Roman, Greek, and Egyptian art in the US and I believe them. It was a bit overwhelming but very well done! Definitely try and go during the Tuesday evening or Sunday morning time when it's free because nothing is better than free! It was busy on the Sunday morning we went but wasn't too busy to enjoy.

I loved how varied the collection is
Parking was free... 3 floors of art collection and 3 stores of artifacts across the globe... would take anywhere between 2 to 3 hours to cover the whole museum

As far as museums go, SAMA is a little known national gem with an extensive collection that I think many would be surprised existed here in SA. Free Admission, Tuesdays, 4-9pm and Sundays, 10am-12pm!

Although there is some refurbishment going on, this is still a great museum. Nice docents, good variety of art in a repurposed old brewery.

The one thing I didn't like was the skybridge that was built from one section of the building to another. It completely ruins the asthetic. They are in the process of refurbishing it, but I wish they would just tear it down.

I happened to go on a free night, which was awesome. However, the experience is worth paying. This is one of the nicest museums in San Antonio that I've seen. They have interesting cool displays.

The permanent exhibits are small but with plenty of great pieces! Egyptian tombs, Greek battle helmets, plenty of huge Roman era statues, a great Texas artists wing. Then they get some great travelling exhibits like the from Spain with artists like Goya, Picasso, and Greco! Again - small but very worthy of having a must-see rating if you're in San Antonio!!
