I honestly don't understand the negative reviews. Great sushi (and we lived in Japan), and never had any problem with the service! Definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants in The Woodlands/Houston!

This is my wife's favorite restaurant. The staff is always friendly and the food is very good. We always do the hibachi section, but I prefer this place to the competition. Give it a try they won't disappointed.

The blond girl at Woodlands Parkway has the worst attitude and always gives the worst customer service we've ever experienced! She has ruined our last 2 dining experiences. There is a more detailed review on the other location! Rating this one too to get the owner's attention! We refuse to be treated poorly by this girl again! She is single handedly destroying your businesses reputation and credibility. If she is still there next time my family arrives, we will walk right back out and take our business to Sapporo!!! Or, I will edit back to my previous 5 star rating if she's gone! Owner's choice!!!

Amazing food. Amazing people. Even amazing prices. The cook-in-front-of-you (I don t know what it s called), is out of this world. The fire. The freshness of the soup and salad. Very crunchy veggies. The sauces. In fact, the food was so good, that I overate despite being full!

This is a place I d definitely come back to.

Not the best and not the worse.

Not the best and not the worse.
I did expect better considering the price and appearance of an upscale establishment. One thing that really bothers me is seeing precut slices of fish at sushi counter.
When you're paying good money you want your chef cutting Everything fresh....
Maybe during the covid crisis things are not the usual quality. I do know they were short staff at sushi area.. but business is slow during the reopen period.
That's why I gave 3 stars instead of 2 stars.

The thing is: I always ask the sushi restaurant to make my custom roll for me. This is unable to be accomplished through Grub Hub. However, I called Sakekawa and spoke with the Manager Mark who was able to accomodate a custom roll order through Grub Hub and made it work. Awesome customer service!!!

On top of that, the custom roll itself was as good if not better than only one other top sushi location in Houston that has made that roll for me.

On top of that I ordered a roll to try, Diego Roll, and THAT was better than most if not All of the sushi I have had in Houston.

Awesome food and great service.

A really lucky find on our part. Enjoy.

So decided to try a new sushi place and should have know not to stray away from our usual place. Server didnt know any of the products being served when we asked about if they had it or not due to their poor menu organization. Also it was a sunday and i would say 90 percent of the places we have been to in the woodlands area have a sunday menu which normal saves a little coin not that it really matters i dont mind paying for good sushi. Food was subpar for the cost by far.

They do great hibachi made to order and added extra garlic butter af we requested! Food was delicious! The other thing i like is they don't require the whole party to be present to be seated!

Everything was perfect! I hate to leave the one star review, but my husband saw our server, Kai, leave the restroom WITHOUT washing his hands. During a pandemic. I know he may be rushing to do his job (even though his service isn t the best), but I don t mind waiting an extra 30 seconds for him to get clean. This is totally unacceptable, everyone needs to do their part to stay safe.

It was my first visit and on my Want to Try list so I was excited to share a late sushi lunch with my mom. It was definitely good but IMO it wasn't a standout. Wah-wah -wah! Good not great for an almost $100 lunch for 2 probably does not equate to a repeat customer. The entire experience was a bit odd due to super awkward waiter interactions, BAD timing of food delivery and underseasoning of EVERY item we ordered (without exception). There was only one other table of 2 in the entire place so I can't explain the delays/timing.
Here we go!
We both ordered sake and I asked for mine to be a "purple" sake. I was served my sake (without a cup) plus a lowball glass of Chambord that I had to pour into the sake myself. Apparently, that's how they do it here but they should reconsider such approach as most of the time the Chambord wound up all over the table as it doesn't pour very well out of a drinking glass. Despite the fact that there was visibly ALOT of sticky chambord on the table, our server never offered to wipe it off even though several times when he approached the table I was dipping my napkin into a water glass to poorly clean up/smear it everywhere.
On with the food! We ordered edamame (underseasoned with no evidence ANY kosher salt or seasonings), yellowtail collar (which takes a while to cook) was a beautiful, large portion but was disappointingly dry, a veggie roll that was okay, a couple pcs of maguro (with no wasabi so they were also underwhelming), a tuna roll with avacado and cucumber also devoid of any wasabi, had very little rice and was too loosely rolled. Are we seeing a trend here?!!!! Our specialty roll (can't remember the name) had soft shell crab topped with eel, roe and I believe drizzles of both mayo and eel sauces but was delivered VERY tardy into the meal. It should have tasted amazing based on the description on the menu but it was also underseasoned which made it a bit dry. As such, I ordered some extra eel sauce. It was a good roll but nothing really popped on the palate. The entire meal could have been spectacular; it wasn't. Suffice it to say that when they completely forgot our lobster roll, I was already over IT completely.
I don't know about other diners but I love my sushi restaurants to provide a hot wet cloth for my fingertips. Yes?
Anyhow, upon review of my tab, I was a bit dismayed to find they had charged me almost a buck for the extra eel sauce (whaaatttt?!). True story.
Based solely on other diners' high reviews, I MAY go back and not slide Sakekawa into my One And Done list. Perhaps it was just an entire table gone wrong. Hmmmm

I go to sushi places all over the country. Ordered Toro sashimi here and am totally blown away by the portion. Most places are very stingy with Toro. Everything is great quality and the waitress has been a delight to deal with.

Tonight my mother and I decided to eat here. The service may have been the worst I have ever received. To start our server rushed the table in ordering the food. We ordered 2 sushi rolls, 1 shrimp plate and 1 combo steak and scallop. When the hibachi chef came out he did not entertain our table with knife tricks or anything other than rice tossing into our mouths. He starts cooking and begins serving our food, he plates rice on everyone s plate but my mother s then ask me to split mine with her as he didn t put any on her plate. Next he cooks the steaks ( we request medium rare). The steaks were cooked to medium / medium well and he then proceeds to ask if we would just accept the medium . I request for a piece to be prepared medium rare as ordered. Keep in mind our sushi still had not come out and at this point my water glass was empty. I am not one to drink fast either. But anyway so now he cooks our seafood ( it was good no complaint that s why I am giving 2 stars). Now veggies. He prepares the veggies and splits them among the table, the 1st couple for theirs then my mom and I got ours. Together we counted there was 4 pieces of veggie (1 broccoli , 2 zucchini, 1 mushroom) between the two of us and a few onions. Now remember we hadn t had our sushi and my water ran out earlier. The hibachi chef finished just as we got our sushi appetizer and my water did NOT get refilled. We ate our food hoping we get refills or some type of service. Nope. Everyone at the table finished and the server never came back. We waited on our checks for a good 5-10 mins after finishing eating and the entire time the dirty plates from sushi, hibachi and empty glasses linger. He finally came and dropped the checks and stood literally rushing us to pay. We paid. We tipped 10% opposed to the typical 20% we would tip based on the service we received and not believing in not tipping at all. Now here is the icing on the bad service as we walked out I politely attempted to inform the front desk staff of our poor service and was told well sorry have a good night anyway . No Who was your server, where did you sit, what happened... none of that. No concern at all.

All of this in mind one more side note when the sushi did come out it was not cut very well and not very good taste wise.

We have no intention of coming back regardless of how much we love hibachi. With small serving sizes, bad cooking, horrible chef engagement, no refills, and lack of concern when attempting to share our experience.

Hopefully someone in management will see this and stress the importance of quality service and food.

Ate here for lunch with a family of 4. Besides being on the expensive side for lunch and $3 children's lemonade... it was delicious. Tasty food and efficient, friendly service. Clean. Will be back, maybe without the kids.

My wife and I go here at least 3 times a month for Friday supper. Wonderful food, great service, good variety of Asian food. I like the different sushi offerings as well as the Yakima Udon. Great place!

1. having been to to the Sakekawa on research forest several times, I genuinely like this Japanese restaurant. I still can recall the first time when my family and I went to the Sakekawa, we not only liked the food but also how people from servers to managers are so friendly and helpful. I truly enjoyed hibachi that sakekawa on research forest has. It was amazing!!! However, I have to say that the Sakekawa on Woodlands parkway did not impressed me as what the Sakekawa on research forest did. When I was in sakekawa on woodlands parkway with my colleagues, the service was pretty slow for a non-weekend lunch time. Also, people did not seem to welcome us.

The food was good but the service was terrible. Took us over an hour to get the food. It took 15 minutes just to get a refill on the drink. My wife had to ask the manager where the food was. Not even a sorry for the delay. I won't be coming back.

Ridiculously poor customer service as well as poor food service. Food was prepared with some plastic found in good while the manager insisted that the chefs aren't perfect, so are customers expect to get plastic in their food? Waiters offered no real attempt to help tables, or even offer to refill any waters at all. How can a restaurant in the woodlands operate like this?

Always love their tiger roll! Unfortunately this time service was extremely slow and forgot half of what we ordered (there was only 10 others so wasn't busy. The seaweed salad came out feeling and tasting drenched and icy. Other than that they have excellent sushi and the waiter did correct our order.

Really super food and service. We ve enjoyed this great local spot twice in the past week. Good attention to social distancing, hygiene, and the rona. Food quality was superb. Value for money was excellent. And service was attentive and friendly. Nice ambience and comfortable vibe. We are returning soon.

How this place can call themselves a restaurant is beyond me. Worst service I have ever seen, poor manager Toni has no idea what she is doing. It's sad to think that they can charge so much for sub par cuts of meat, and then give horrible service on top of it. Just save your money please!

My husband and I chose here to celebrate our birthdays for lunch. I ordered hibachi and he ordered sushi. While my food was being cooked a roach crawled from under the hibachi grill near my plate the cook killed it with a napkin, apologized and kept cooking. They gave me a free watered down drink and I took my food to go straight to the trash can. This made me decide to cook and eat at home from now on. Very disappointed.

This restaurant is a gem inside The Woodlands. They have lunch specials at great prices with plenty of options to chose from. Great place to celebrate a special occasion at the hibachi tables. The kids really enjoy coming here. Friday and Saturday nights can be pretty busy, so safer to have reservations. Serving staff is courteous and attentive. Managers are always making sure everything is right and are very hands on.
