My dad was in this hospital and my mom has been here a few times she just recently was discharged. I can't say enough good things about the nurses the doctors all the staff and the aides. They were angels of mercy and so kind to her and also wonderful... she went in there in bad shape and was released to rehab so so much better she's 90 years old. I love them and I just can't understand some things people are saying but everyone has their own experiences and mine was wonderful each time.

RWJ Somerset
I received the information I requested in a prompt manner. Karen Odom was a pleasure to deal with.
Came here at 5am on wed my girl was in serve pain The worst hospital ever The reasons 1. Asked 3 people for a blanket with the additudes And was told to grab it myself 2. Take u for a test leave u in a hall for a hr 1 1/2 This happened twice 3. Watched this nurse the hospital phone for over a hr With her husband or boyfriend I love u baby must of heard that 1000 times 4 all they do in the er is gossip and Play clash of clans on there iPads For again over a hr 5 leave a iv in ur arm not connected to anything For 3 hrs and get mad when u ask them to remove it Great nurse Jeanette in the er Very nice lady !!! She went out of her way Give her a raise she's the only one that cares about The patients there
My sister has been in RWJ for over two weeks.Communication with medical staff can only be described as non-existent to outright horrible. I am POA and contact for my sister who can't communicate. I ALWAYS had to call them for updates. multiple times I was told my sister was being released to the nursing home and I would find out the next day that she wasn't released for a whatever reason. Our family's prior experiences with this hospital before it became RWJ had always been good. Other than the fact they kept my sister alive, I would have given only one star. Medical staff never seems to be the same. Each time I went there were differnt people on. I would not go back there unless it was a true life or death scenario. Many other quality hospitals in the area.
The worst hospital you can go to. They push all specialists doctors in to see you to make a buck. They don t speak to each other so each orders more tests! Nurses try but the doctors are AWFUL
Brought my mother here over a dozen times this year and have never been there for less than 4 hours. Doctors do nothing but take blood and give you perks. Last time we were there we waited two hours just for the doctor to come back and tell us we were being discharged. Worst hospital ever !
The attention is fatal, I have been here for 2 days without a diagnosis, they have me in the room without medications or anything, this is horrible there are only 2 nurses and 2 auxiliaries for 25 people :(
Amazing labor and delivery staff. Just amazing. Personal touch without a million others babies being born. Large private rooms for labor / delivery and post.
The worse hospital around. If you can go somewhere else do it!
Robert Wood Somerset is Absolutely the WORST DISORGANIZED hospital I've ever seen. It has gotten worse after the merger no one from my family will ever come back to this place we will use St. Peter's or Overlook. You discharge a patient with open wounds in their legs without the physical therapist even knowing after saying that the patient has to stay another night and then tell the family the only way that the patient can come home is by ambulance and you must pay for it and ask for the credit card. While saying that the patient needs to be in a safe environment whelp guess your hospital isn't a safe environment. Meanwhile you have drunks and drug addicts taking up beds in your ER.
Needed to get breast prosthetic in the store in the lobby. Great products, exceptional service and personable staff
It's closest to me which I a plus. Timmy who was the er doctor on 12/04 and Rich who was the doctor on 12/17 were outstanding with the knowledge, care, concern, communication was everything and I believe our nurse was Megan. I had some bad experiences with this hospital but my last 2 visits (although they were unfortunate) I really appreciate everything. Thank you rich Timmy and Megan
We Visited the emergency room late on a Sunday evening for a serious injury of my elderly father in law. We were seen almost immediately and although we were there for seven hours the care was excellent and the physican, whose name I cannot recall, was exceptional. Everyone was very very busy so I think we were delayed a little bit but it was clear they were running around taking care of his many people as possible. We were most satisfied with the care and appreciated having a hospital close to us. Subsequent to that visit we needed to call regarding medical records and the health information department was exceptional in getting us what we needed within a very short period of time. My compliments to them for helping us in continuing to take care of my father-in-law. I would highly recommend Somerset Hospital and thsnk all who cared for my father in law and the health information department for their consideration and attention.
Worst ever. I went in for pneumonia and they had me in the cardiac ward doing unnecessary procedures. The dr had no clue what was going on.
I'm still here and the staff is wonderful. After 5 days they had to close the unit I was in and move me all the way across the hospital at 11:00 p.m. . That was a little weird, but it was done very well.
I was just looking for rating less than one star, My wife went to have the ultrasound, they did only to the place where she is getting pain, when we asked to do the full scan, they said it would be fine, now we forced to take another round of test which cost us more than $1400. Thank You RWJ.
While the hospital staff is generally helpful and responsible, the financial services department seems to always have their answering service on and does not answer there phones. It really shows the lack of consideration that the hospital administration has for its patients who may be recovering or have health problems and may find it difficult to repeatedly, I mean repeatedly, contact the billing department for assistance. In the past, I have always had to go to the hospital to resolve any minor billing questions. Its a sad reality that customer service is not at the forefront of this department's culture. Also, I find the method the hospital uses to extract every cent possible from you for each service to be rather annoying. The billing department always seems to have concocted some strange and convoluted methods of determining how they charge you. In most cases, they cannot even explain it to you themselves. Its really a highlights everything that is wrong with the American Healthcare industry.
Such disorganized place full of under skilled personnel, just getting from bad to worst.
They put the wrong address on my prescription everything was extremely rushed and they are extremely rude
I spent 6 hours in the ER yesterday and the staff were wonderful. The techs, the nurses and the doctor were very attentive and kind despite being so busy. Their attention to sanitizing was incredible. I felt safe despite the pandemic. If I need their services again, I find comfort in knowing I'll be in good company.
My mother in law recently had her knee replaced here. We can't say enough good things about the experience. They were so attentive and caring. They showed god like patience with a very hard to please elderly lady (kudos to Marcella here particularly) who is now getting around nicely and even back walking her dog daily. We would have no reservations about recommending this hospital and orthopedic department to anyone considering knee surgery. Thank you.
Except a ridiculous bill to pay everything is great. Very friendly staffers and professional services. Place is well equipped and don't see any fault on this unexpected visit. Parking is easy compare to others.
The worse hospital of you want to die quick go to that hospital they will let you die I don t know why this hospital is still open
My wife was just ask to moved against her will. She said no to henore but the night supervisor for her room, 497 west wing, kept on coming back and insisted she be moved. My wife was passed her sleeping time and was tired and getting very upset and finally agreed to it. But why couldn't she asked other patients to see if they would move instead of keep on bothering my wife. I tell you why, that lady thinks my wife is Asian and she would not do anything about it. Well, she is wrong. My wife is now in room 1107, where she is upset and requires more pain medication which she now has to wait for her doctor to approve. She is now so upset and can't stop crying even with all the nice nurse trying to calm her down. Garry thenight superivser on that floor came to console my wife but and agreed that she did not have to move if she didn't wanted to. This Asian family is very upset and will take our complaints to the
My mother in law was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, this has been very hard on our family because she is the pillar for her children. Yolonda Sims whom works in the surgeon oncologist department has been absolutely amazing in this hard time. Going above and beyond to make our lives easier scheduling making appointments and even scheduling an Uber to ensure my mother in law makes it to her appointments. I ve never had a more stellar experience then this. She is an absolute amazing individual and we are so greatful to her! Dr. Potivan, Simone, and Dr. Toomey have also been amazing and so sweet. Yolonda takes the cake though with all she s done for us.!
Always taken care of here. My choice of area hospitals
I being here for 4 hour in the emergency room and have not got anything for my pain
I would like to thank the Charity Care staff Especially the young Humberto Garcia for your help and collaboration, a service with a lot of professionalism and best of all in our language Thank you very much for your kindness
Being a recent patient at the joint center at RWJ has me compelled to share my experience. If you need a joint replacement do not hesitate to go to Dr Kayiaros and the joint team at RWJ Somerset. EVERYONE there will ensure that your experience is an excellent one. From the moment you make the choice to have the replacement until you are back on your feet, you will receive the most expert and professional care that you could ever imagine. I want to thank the entire team from Dr. Kayiaros to his administration staff, the joint team and the hospital staff for all the kindness and love they offered me. I am forever grateful and do not hesitate to recommend to anyone.
The hospital's Records department was exceptionally helpful, especially Karen Odom who helped us out so promptly in getting what we wanted mailed to our PCP. Thank you, Karen!!
Long wait to get into a room for night Transport taking forever!! Also very slow when er should be more ontop of things.
Very poor service, I have to really search the meaning of emergency in the dictionary now. The services sucks really. Not even a chair to seat for the patients visitors. How this is even called a Hospital ?
I waited 4 hours .if i dont say anything probably be here 6 hours.Long time waitting
definition of nursing:the profession or practice of providing care for the sick and infirm. if you consider the above definition, then RWJBH organization fails while there were outstanding examples of nurses, I found this to be true when family was in attendance at night, when family had to leave to get some sleep, the experience is not the same if patient care is not your calling , then leave the profession people get sick, they cannot care of themselves, a nurse must not forget that
Very good care and knowledgeable staff. Easy to get to and plenty of parking
Robert wood Johnson hospital in Somerville NJ is probably the worst hospital in NJ. If you have an emergency or need to get a test DO NOT USE THIS HOSPITAL. Most of the staff are incompetent and no one has been trained properly. I have had really bad experiences there and people who live around share the same opinion as I do. You would think that the people who work at the hospital dont only work there to make a pay check but also because they like to help other people. Well, most of them dont, they are in the wrong field or pick the wrong career. They dont care for your health at all and do not treat you with consideration and have no respect of your time. Here is my last experience: I went there yesterday for a CT scan and my total time in there was 5 hours when you go to a regular radiology clinic you dont expend longer than 30 to 45 min. I got there at 11am, went to the front desk, showed them my prescription for the test and they made me sign an attendance sheet. my appointment was at 11:30am but I like to get to my appointments with extra time. I had premedicated myself from the night before due to allergy reaction to iv contrast plus I drank the 2 bottles of barium as they told me 2 hours prior the test. After waiting for about a hour I got a little concerned that the medicine and barium that I took was running out of my system so I went to the front desk and explained to the staff my concerns and asked them to help me to get the scan done. They seem not to be concerned about and asked me to go back to the waiting room until they call my name. Around 1pm I went back again and asked them if they were going to call me any time soon, they said that they were having an emergency inside with some of the equipment. I found it weird. You would think that the hospital has more than one machine to perform those test. Anyway I waited another half hour then I went back to the front desk and told them that I was leaving I had decided not to wait anymore and also I was thinking that the medicine I took for the allergies was not going to be effective any longer since I took my last dose at 9am and it was almost 2pm. One of the staff told me that I was gonna be called next. They called my name at 1:45pm and the person who took me inside apologized for the problems that the front desk employees were having with the system. I was shocked because the front staff had told me that the problem was inside where the equipment area is. I guess the play the game to blame one another as an excuse for not to help the patients on time. Anyway I just needed to get this done and get out of there but as soon as they injected the iodine injection I got a several allergy reaction and had to remind at the hospital for 2 more hours because my blood pressure was down, I had hives, swollen lips and throat and I was shaking afraid for my life and all because of their negligence I got this complication. Fortunately there were a couple of nurses and a doctor who helped get through this and checked on me for about an hour but other than those three people no one there cares. They are just there killing time to get a pay check at the end of the week. Today, one day later I still dont feel good I have blood in my urine my back hurts and I really feel off. I could not go to work and unfortunately I think I need to go back there today to let them know about my symptoms. Robert wood Johnson hospital is not the best choice when you have a test to get done. I have had previous bad experiences in the emergency room also and would not recommend this hospital to anyone. If you have a little bit of time and it is not a truly emergency, go to other hospitals that are a little farther but the service is much better.
While traveling out of town on business I had to visit the ER at RWJ. The care their was excellent. There's always delays in ER situations as priorities changed but they kept me updated and gave great care. thanks
Well, I got sick and I had a lot of pain just x not having medical insurance left me 26 hours in a hallway and there were empty rooms I arrived at 7am and they discharged me the next day at 8 am and all that time I was in a hall at my husband's side sleeping on the tip of the fatal stretcher the service and the best bill nor I tell them the doctor never came alone a nurse went to check me twice a day there was one more on that stretcher in search of relief without attention or medication and not a plate of food ah but the super expensive bill talking more than 10,000 if you do not have medical insurance treat us like a garbage bag my husband has insurance and there if very well taken care of that badly treat those who do not have insurance I do not recommend that Go without medical insurance!
My wife was admitted for labor last week and it was horrible night for us . They gave epidural to my wife to avoid contraction pain .Epidural gave intensive unbearable back pain to her. No one in the room had any idea why it is happening .They on -off epidural multiple time and finally they decided to give epidural injection which relaxed her The one guy from anesthesia dept was very rude. His response to the pain was that you are very anxious person .Seriously!!! she is in severe pain .what you expect from her .if we asked some question .his response was let us do our job . Everything went fine later on .Big thanks to the nurses and physicians.they took very good care of baby and mother.
They dont have any respect for patients what so ever, they give u the worst attitudes, They leave u in hallways on stretchers and there all bitchy. Save ur time and avoid this place!!
The constant upgrading and improving is great to see. Keeping up with technology is also another great aspect of the hospital.
Been here several times. All mediocre to bad experiences. Last time was the last straw ... even if ur mortally wounded beg the ambulance driver not to take u here. The morgue may have a better shot at saving u, probably more comfortable as well. I ve been having a migraine for over three days and was told to go to the hospital by an emergency clinic. I was in severe pain so I did. told everyone from the front desk to the registration guy about my rare disease right ? Ok The attending nurse and the other nurse weren t aware of my medical history ( said rare disease)so I told them both againnnnnnn. She wasn t familiar with my disease but never asked me abt what it was??? and saw I had recent head and neck MRI s but waited until I was leaving four hours later to ask me about that ??? And it wasn t until my husband asked her point blank what we should do since I felt no better that she decided to prescribe me the medicine she has been giving me over the course of four hours to no avail. Smart. Upon asking the helper nurse what I should do she said the doctor would surely prescribe me something else seeing as what they had been giving me didn t work... okay??? it got better though. When I went to the pharmacy to get the medicine that didn t help it turns out the nurse filled out the prescription blank wrong and I couldn t even get that. So 200 something dollars and four hours later I ll thank this hospital for NOTHING. At least she recommended I see a nuerologist like abc 123 thank so much Ps How many damn years and how much effing money did this chick spend on educating herself to become a doctor TO NOT KNOW HOW TO WRITE A PERSCRIPTION she friggin left out the strength and dosage she only wrote the generic medicine name like u should be the one in the hospital dummy
Clean hospital. My father had pressure relieved by surgery. He was in icu for two days which the team was very attentive. He was moved to a step down to neuro science 4 West where there is sub par care. I believe it is a privilege to be hired by RWJ and the staff needs to be more aware of the individuals care requirements prior to entering the room.
Phone representative needs to only focus on desk work and phone calls instead of assuming what's wrong with my baby and saying "the doctor won't do anything anyway because it's just a birth mark" IT IS NOT just a birth mark if its turning purple and swelling up under her skin near her eye! I wish i could remember her name this is ridiculous.
Without a doubt the worst hospital in all of NJ, avoid at all costs unless you like wasting an entire day just for a simple discharge. Staff can't do anything right. Why incompetent, heartless people go into nursing is beyond me. RWJ Team -- dont bother replying to this, you will not change my perspective and I will not waste my time dealing with more of your useless staff.
If I can put negative then I would Went to them twice and I was in severe pain No help, wrong diagnosis and most importantly no mercy, they kept me standing next to the wall till they clean the room. I had to lay down on the floor from the pain. Staff were passing by with zero help. You have to wait forever before to see someone and it s not even worth it. If I need to go next time to emergency room, I will never go back to them. I learned my lesson and it was more than enough.
Moved my father with stage 4 lung cancer to a offsite rehab facility without notifying the family. Then when asked who made that decision nobody knows. Would never send a loved one to that hospital again.
I thank the medical service Why they gave me good attention, thank you very much everyone
They keep you waiting and waiting and waiting without a clue when you'll be attended to.
Amazing ER experience! Every staff member from receptionist, triage RN, RN, registrar, and PA were professional, friendly, respectful, and knowledgeable. We were in and out quicker than I would have probably been at an urgent care even! Parking was convenient and the ER was clean, spacious, and very appealing-- looks like a hotel when you walk in. I would definitely go again and will recommend it to family and friends. Very impressed!
I waited an hour or so just to be seen by the Dr. that was not where to be found. Probably she was taking a nap. When she finaly came only told me that I was going to be taken for a ct scan and the nurse gave me some pain medication. After a a couple hours they took me for the ct scan and brought me back to the room. I needed to pee twice and nobody came right away I pee myself and nobody care to clean. When the results from the ct scan were ready they just sent me home even though I was in excruciating pain. Don't go to this place if you want to be treated like a human not like an animal
Worst place to go when you re in so pain. Use to So call Rwj was really good hospital but I don t it s the staff or what it s getting worse day by day. Again if you re in so much pain please don t come to RWJ in Somerville nj
At every level this is a well run Medical Center that has the best interests of each and every patient. Every (and I mean every) person that took care of me displayed a high level of professionalism.
nurses are nice and super helpful, Dr's know what there doin..... mostly
A learning hospital. My husband went in for a port and a cardiac catheterization Feb 18th 2019. That was to get him on the active Kidney transplant list and to put the port to start dialysis. He did not go in for chest pains, blockages, etc. If anything was wrong, it was NEVER told to him by his cardiologist, Dr. Barone or his Kidney Doctor, Dr. Desai. My husband was 64 working 50 hours per week. Never missed work, no medications. With the exception of the kidney (we still wonder today) didn't follow that pattern either. He went in with a RED BAND stating no Fentyl. We NEVER said he had an allergy, we STATED IN has HYPOTENSION! However, the doctor they sent in to do it (which was NOT his cardiologist) NOR WERE WE ever told that this young girl would be performing this procedure. She decided to give it to him. This is how this hospital and doctors do things. They make their own decisions. Well 20 minutes later he complained of not being able to breath and his head hurt. They performed a circus act on my husband. They intubated him after that. Only they intubated his stomach instead of his lung!!! They continued until his death at 3:35 PM. I was sitting in the next room, if they had any questions they could have asked. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOSPITAL. I have all the hospital notes, stating everything I wrote here. I will continue to go public ...I need to help others
This hospital has the worst ER facility in NJ. The care is well below par. Nurses are not responsive and patients are not cared for. This hospital is not a care facility but a poorly run business.
I came in because my Jenjual tube balloon came out and I needed an Interventional Radiologist to replace the tube and have it Stiched in place. Maggie,AP, tried her hardest to do the right thing but the interventional radiologist refused to do it and also a surgeon refused. Maggie stiched my tu be into place and sent me on my way. I was pleased with the nurses and Maggie. Disappointed with the interventional radiologist who is the o e who is supposed to do this. Disgusted with interventional radiology.
Vanessa Joseph, RN at the stroke unit was excellent during my father's two day stay at the stroke unit
The only thing worse than the Emergency Room services at RWJ Somerset is their billing department. I went to the ER around midnight on 2/14/18 with severe pain in my side. The emergency room was not busy but it took nearly 3 HOURS for a doctor to come in and see me. The doctor wanted me to give a urine sample. TWO HOURS LATER the nurse came in and I mentioned that the doctor wanted me to give the urine sample she said, Oh really? Let me go check TWO HOURS LATER she came back and said, Yes you are right I need a sample. Basically I spent nearly 10 hours in the ER for them to check my blood, check my urine and give me a CT Scan. They said everything looked fine and sent me home. How much did all that cost? I won t give an exact figure but it was an obscene amount. They wanted a co-pay while I was there and I offered to give them money but after trying for a half hour their card machine would not work. So I told them to bill me. My insurance company paid them on 3/2/18. Over 9 MONTHS later they finally decided to send me a bill for the amount my insurance didn t cover. How are you going to send me a bill 9 MONTHS later right before Christmas? And why should I have to pay this HUGE amount of money for basically nothing? Now I am dealing with harassing phone calls from their billing department. My father, mother and wife have all had horrible experiences with the ER department at this hospital. You will wait for HOURS and HOURS and hardly get any help once you finally see a doctor. Then get ready for a HUGE bill to arrive many months later. I would avoid this Emergency Room at all cost if you can. Go to Hunterdon or anywhere but here if you need a competent ER.
I went in to the ER dizziness, headache and loss of balance. Was a bit skeptical because of the bad reviews but this was the closest ER to me. Despite the reviews, i thought the staff was friendly, professional and attentive to my needs. I saw Dr. Smolar who was very nice caring and seemed genuinely concerned about my well being. I was prescribed meds, and discharged rather quickly after a thorough diagnosis and was better within a few days. No complaints here and would go back if i was ever in an emergency situation.
Was admitted to the ER and kept overnight for observation in outpatient care. Overall the place has improve on some areas but I do feel it s a bit disorganized and lack of attention. Be prepared to wait hours to be seen by doctors, nurse, or anything you might require.
They make you feel like you re being taken care of until the overpaid doctors can t find what is wrong. Then they become slaves of the insurance companies rather than doing all they can to help the patient. Nurses are a 4/5 and the rooms are nice, but the hospital as a whole sucks. Just lipstick on a pig and fancy awards hung up all over.
Decent care provided, but was there for less than 3 hours and they charged me $25,900.00!! This is insane, ridiculous, and unethical. The was a basic medical procedure with no highly specialized equipment used. AND, this did not include the ER Dr. charge, anesthesiologist charge, and gastroenterologist charge, which added up to another $5315 on top of that! Over $30k for 3 hours!
Everyone was so pleasant in same day surgery- from reception to the PACU. The facility was clean and well- organized, and every employee was knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend or return.
Worst place ever. Provided NO services, charged thousands!
I had a very bad experience tonight! My boyfriend first off hate hospitals, second he can tolerate pain!! Anywho they charged him before being seen, Said he could "possibly" have a muscle spasm from sneezing so they gave him a muscle relaxer. My question is.... HOW DO YOU GIVE SOMEONE ANY TYPE OF MEDICINE WHEN YOU DIDN'T EVEN RUN ANY TESTS (muscle relaxers)? He doesn't even like pills. How do you just assume that's what it is though? You sent him home only 20 minutes after getting a room. I hope and pray nothing happens to him especially when his right side of his body hurting like that! I never seen this man so weak he can't even lift a shirt. I pray that nobody ever go back there.
Worst hospital I've ever been to. Had to wait a very long time to be seen, even after being brought back to a room. Then had a very sarcastic Dr. tell me things I already knew and gave me zero help/new information. Then of course after paying my copay they sent SEVERAL additional bills that i knew nothing about prior to, even after asking the woman in the financial department about this during my stay at the hospital. Sarcastic crooks. I wouldn't recommend this hospital under any circumstances. If I could give zero stars, I would!
Simply amazing Doctors and Nurses and staff Dr Lisa Cepppetelli was so thorough and compassionate. Wonderful bedside manner and it was obvious how much she cared. No long waits either. My nurse Megan Nigro was on top of everything and again, caring and compassionate. Always with a smile. Such a great experience. Such great doctors! Even the staff was so professional and kind. Chyanne Houck you keep going through school, you will make an unbelievable Doctor one day. Everyone was super attentive to me, even though I was not their only patient. You cannot ask for more. The next time I need ER care I m coming here again from Metuchen. It is so worth it. Thank you again everyone. You work so hard!
Last week, a baby (8 months old) was brought to you, gasping for breath, convulsions, fever. How could you send home a few hours later with a fever? She had another attack less than 10 hours after you sent her. We called 911 again and your car arrived, and we asked you to take the baby to another hospital. 20 minutes away and your car was in no hurry to go, didn't even turn on the signal. For more than a day, the baby had a high temperature of 104-105. The child was infected, and you didn't even find out. Would you like your children to be treated the same way? Or does the life of others mean nothing to you? They come to you with the hope of help. And this is the help of doctors? She could have died because of you.
I've gone to this hospital twice in the last week. My first visit I complained about internal pain starting from my left side, and that I havent been able to go to the bathroom naturally. I also mentioned I went to Kennedy Hospital in Turnersville NJ mid April for pain in the opposite side. The doctor convinced me not to get a CT scan which I found to be very weird. They temporarily fixed my internal discomfort and sent me home. My nurse was Sandy, she was a very attentive and overall great nurse. My 2nd visit, I rushed to the hospital after I had a very frightening experience. My body temperature went up out of no where, I felt like I was going to die. Because I drank water on my way there, my temp was normal when i arrived. Again, I complained about pain in my left side, heat that starts from my left and spreads. All they did was a EKG, bloodwork, and a IV. Yet again, no testing of my left side. Just to add to this, my nurse went out to get the materials to start my bloodwork, I didnt see this guy for an hour. He also made me feel as if I was an inconvenience. People do not go to the hospital to stack co-pays, we go when it's our last resort. Do not come to this hospital, the're other options in this area. 10/15/18-By far the most incompetent.
My mom went in there for pneumonia. Within 8 hours she got considerably worse. She was in the hospital for 11 days. Near the end of her stay, they checked her hemoglobin and it was very low, so they gave her a pint of blood. Normally, you should be checking the levels every few hours just to make sure the levels are stable. They didn t check for 26 hours. That 26 hour difference could ve saved her life. And unfortunately, within technicalities, they did everything they could ve. They neglect their patients. Only time they re a good hospital is if you are in the emergency room with a broken bone. I highly suggest going to rejection in New Brunswick over this place.
I m not using my real name for privacy issues but I am a 49 year old male that recently had to take a trip to the ER as I was experiencing some distress at home while exercising. My history includes anxiety and unfortunately some panic attacks, but no known cardiac issues. Since this happened while doing some exercise and it scared me enough to head to the ER at around 1030pm. My wife tried to convince me that more than likely I just triggered a big panic attack while on treadmill which hasn t happened to me before as they usually happen at rest! Anyhow I was surprised at how quiet and composed he ER waiting room was, not much of a crowd thankfully. After a temperature check a very nice nurse came out and led back for a 12 lead EKG which was normal thank God. Then back to another area where a different nurse took some history and details of what brought me there. Again very nice and understanding. I was then met by a PA named Rick who immediately sympathized with my overall situation and commended me for taking the trip there. As a man basically the same age as me he related to everything I was talking about. Then I was off to a chest X-ray and blood work to check for cardiac enzymes ( the presence of them indicate acute cardiac tissue damage apparently ). Blood work was normal as was the chest X-ray. Before I left I spoke again with Rick talking about how this covid thing has really knocked me for a loop ( lost my job, watching young kids at home, added tensions and such ) again he listened and understood and had zero judgment of me or my situation. I then walked out and that was that. Now I m waiting for the bill! Hopefully it won t be too much. For me this was a great and comforting experience. Good job to everyone who helped me. Thank you
This is the worst hospital I've ever been to. My family has been here numerous times due to it being the closest to our home. The staff is unbelievably inept, nobody has any information when you ask about discharge, they give you the run around and eventually ask for your number so someone can get back to you hours later. The nurse that started treatment never told us that the shift was changing and the new nurse never even knew my mother had an IN in her arm until they she was being transferred. Asked how the results of blood work and x rays were and was told the doctor would speak with me about it, however not once did a doctor come in. If you have to bring your loved ones here I'd warn you to think twice about it and try to find somewhere that has a caring staff. I contacted the operator to get visiting hours And was told that visiting ends at 7 pm and that I could see my mom, however when I arrived they said there were no visiting hours for the day, and that there was no number that I could contact my mother. I then asked how I could discharge her so I could bring her to a better facility and got the run around and was told I had to speak to the nurses station. After speaking with the nurses station I was still given no information about my mother's condition or how she was doing and was asked to leave my number so someone could get back to me. 2 hours later I received a call from the doctor who said nothing in regards to how I could take her to another facility but instead said I prescribed her medication and will see how it affects her and then maybe discharge her in 2 days. The only upside was I was given permission to be able to speak with her. This hospital is an absolute nightmare and I could tell you more horror stories, but the moral of it all is never ever ever go here unless it's the only available option, and even then you'd probably be better asking some random person on the streets to assist you then coming in here.
My friend was here recently, it was one of the worst things I have ever seen!! When she arrived at the hospital she did not know what was going on, she sat in a cold room for hours without anything provided. They told her she was not allowed to have her phone, after she had asked respectfully why she could not have her phone they simply replied with an I don t know. They wouldn t let her know anything else. When she was talking to one of the nurses they said she was not allowed to wear shorts above the knee, In all this is one of worst places ever.
This is literally the worst hospital around . They will let you die if they can they won t care about you at all . They have the most rude staff in the world none of them care about u they care more about what they re eating for lunch then the life of people .
The facility the medical staff etc. second to none, thank you!
Karen Odom is wonderful. She is an amazing asset to the Robert Wood Johnson Medical Records Department in Somerset. She went above and beyond to help me today.
I was recently at the Steeplechase Breast Center in Somerset and the ladies at reception were always very welcoming. I would like to thank the wonderful staff for their patience and for making me feel comfortable during my visits!
Awesome. Clean and professional. And now that they are part of Robert Wood Johnson, it's even better.
Worst hospital! So many violations! When a nurse Dr. other practitioner comes into the room they should have an ID badge on them no one had one.how do I know who you were coming into the room? Not to mention the level of care is poor. A family member was recently there with a contagious infection and no one tells you that you need a gown or gloves before entering the room. One would think when you go to the reception desk to get your visitors pass they would tell you and give you that then ! I pray nobody I know ever has to go to this hospital again.
Worst hospital. I came last week when my father was ill. No one knew what they were doing. I now come cause I m sick and they put me in the wrong room under a different patient just like they did last week when my father was in! They are constantly making mistakes and are beyond slow.
I had two surgical procedures at this hospital within two months, and have been very pleased with the way I was treated by the staff and hospital administration. Everything was handled well. At the entrance to the hospital, visitors are greeted warmly and are given instructions as to where to go. The hospital was clean and I was comfortable being there.
ER is very unorganized, and discriminates on people! Kept me waiting for more than one hour and let everyone in even who is behind me or who just arrived and looked healthier than me. When my husband asked them will I be the next? They just answered everyone is busy, but next moment they let someone else in without busy thing?! I don t feel I was treated fairly!
Bad experience with the nurse Jude Dauer, should have gone elsewhere. Hospital room was dirty and I caught a cold
Hospital is very clean, organized, the staff are friendly and there are lots of parking available.
The teen volunteers in the lobby could at least smile instead of giving dirty looks at visitors when they walk in.
My elderly Mother is there for a heart condition. The medical staff is tremendous, especially her nurse,Olya. She is tremendous. What a treasure! It would be 5 stars but the food is epically terrible. From the staff cafeteria to the patients food, it is garbage. Like they are trying to make it inedible. Food is not trivial in people s lives. Especially when they are trying to heal. Why not make the food as good as the medical care? C mon already!
I spent 3 weeks on the Critical Care Unit at RWJ Somerset from 9/18 to 10/18 after suffering a cardiac arrest. My wife and I experienced the most outstanding and compassionate care imaginable. Everyone from the unit's administrator to housekeeping were professional, competent, and caring. Subsequent to this stay, my wife and I accepted an offer to serve as volunteers on the hospital's Patient and Family Advisory Council and we continue to be impressed by the competence and culture of the organization. Hopefully, I won't need their services in the future but would return in a heartbeat. (No pun intended!)
