I have been to this hotel many times and it's was always good and clean . However this time found the hygiene shocking . The smell stale and carpets not vacuumed daily . The sheets and pillows smelt . It seemed like it wasn't taken out when the last person left . Room Service is a frustrating process.

The hotel is very comfy at a very reasonal price and prime location. I only had one issue , that they didnt turn up to pick me at airport but they compensated me later.

It's a great hotel, service is prompt and the staff is friendly and helpful

Hotel in a shopping centre? Seems to be too much trying to be what it isn't. Rooms are decent. Hotel is comparatively below average. Lift is filthy. And they'll honour your request when you stand over the staff while they fix your room. 4 stars from SA tourism for?

Used to be the place where we would host our corporate guests few years ago.
Went back last year in November and had a very unpleasant experience.
The ENTIRE SAFE was STOLEN from my room with my valuables inside.

Literally, like in a Hollywood movie!

I would say security is non existent compared to other 4 Stars Hotels.
It looks like anyone can walk in and get away with your stuff.

Poor for what they advertise.. probably more a 3 star. Stay away from 502..very noisy. 505.room and bathroom is connected. Toilet stinking of urine and so is the room now. I would say take a chance somewhere else. The place looks not clean. Hilton is the best.

Rooms are big staff are friendly location on point.but maintenance is really needed. Upgrade is needed to live up to its 4star status

Good hotel central in Umhlanga Durban. Reasonably priced. Rooms are really nice.

Cleaning services only arrive @3.30pm and toilet door handle broken. Rooms neglected and need renovations

To make the stay ever more pleasant serious improvements are required in breakfast menu and it's quality. Also TV channels are limited and slow Internet connection can be annoying if on business trip.

Nice hotel. But I was not impressed with the menus. Maybe they must just serve breakfast abd offer. Meal vouchers to the nearby restaurant

I love the Royal Palm Hotel it is centrally located in Umshlanga walking distance from the Gateway Mall. The Spa at the Royal Palm Hotel is one of the best Spas in the country! There staff is super professional and give the best massages. We regularly travel from Johannesburg to the Royal Palm Hotel just to go to the Spa and to relax!

It's a beautiful hotel very close to gateway mall. The staff were kind and helpful. Breakfast was amazing. The only negative thing is the AC in my room was not working, I reported it but still no changes, it was extremely hot in my room.

Despite of its amazing location but this place just didn't do it for me. The food is absolutely terrible, had the worst lamb curry on earth that was just too oily & tasted worse than it looked then at breakfast had to wad off flies from the fruits on the breakfast bar & yoghurt section. Was too disappointed with the restaurant I dont see us coming back

Exciting young fresh sassy hotel with good settings

Facilities need serious attention. TV was not working. Bath tap was leaking all over the floor. Doors could not close properly. But it's very stylish and posh. Just need maintenance to be looked at

It is serene environment with magnificent structures.

The accomodation is clean and is taken care daily by room service and I admired the quality of food they are serving during breakfast and the service is in high standard very friendly staff.

It's a massive hotel and of exceptional standard. And near one the largest Mall Gateway Theatre of Shopping,in fact I will say it's in the Mall

Friendly and efficient staff. Painless check in and check out . Free parking . The stay was lovely , suite was clean and comfortable. You're surrounded by restuarants and the gateway mall so you are spoilt for dining choices. Would definitely recommend to others .

Hotel is perfect, staff friendly and helpful. I had to wait for dinner once very long, and the wifi does not work.

Large, modern rooms. Best rooms are in the middle section of the hotel, facing the clock tower and outside back of the hotel. Beautiful bar and breakfast area.

I only visited friends but the Hotel was perfectly located. Units were clean and well maintained. They enjoyed their stay.

Horrible service, extremely dirty rooms and broken equipment. There is also nothing included as said.

I love staying at the Royal Palm. Perfectly located, 15 minutes from the airport and just minutes to the beach! The rooms are spacious, clean, and beautifully furnished. The staff is friendly and the parking ample. No complaints :)
Also.. They leave sweets on your pillow!

Superb location, great rooms and the staff are awesome above and beyond. I needed a new pillow in the middle of the night and despite housekeeping being closed, the reception desk found a new pillow and delivered it to my room. Great experience. I will definitely stay again.

Executive suite is good, could even be used for self catering, food takes a while to prepare but is ok, conferance facility exelent.

A few days ago I visited my brother and his wife who were staying at the Royal Palm Hotel. I hadn't been there since it first opened and much to my surprise the standard has dropped dramatically. I did not get to eat at this establishment but visited with my family in their hotel room which was not very well kept. He did mention that the food was not too bad, hence the 2 stars.
My brother was so dissapointed and extremely dissatisfied with his room. In fact they had to be moved from the initial booking to another because the airconditioner was pouring out water into their hotel room. There were so many things broken in their room which was not maintained, and service was poor... things like squeaky cupboards, a broken soap dish and few other details. The lifts we came up in to their hotel room were very dirty. I'm not sure who does housekeeping and care-taking but much needs to be done about it. Needless, to say! My family won't be coming back here and who can blame them!!!
Let me just say, you have lost a good customer, who comes to South Africa every year for Comrades, a well and seasoned traveller along with his wife.
This definitely does not meet up to the 4-star rating given... time to make some changes management #justsaying
