Royal Inn West Edmonton Review

I stayed here over a month ago now for a family emergency. I found a great deal online. For the price, this hotel is great and the location is phenomenal. Only a few minutes drive to West Edmonton Mall but there was a smaller mall even closer. Its located right across the street from some Fast Food including McDonald s and Pizza Hut. There s also a gas station and a Safeway grocery store. A Walmart plaza was also a couple of minutes drive away. Literally conveniently located. If you re not familiar with the city like I was then you have what you need within a small driving distance. The front desk staff was super helpful and friendly. You get vouchers for a hot or cold breakfast. The hot is a jimmy dean breakfast sandwich with coffee, tea or juice. I believe the cold was a muffin, yogurt and coffee, tea or juice. Bed was super comfortable and the water in the shower can go really hot which is what I like. The shower head where the water comes out could be cleaner and the Keurig wasn t all that clean. I communicated this with the Staff at the front desk. And that s really my only critique for this place. For the price, a great place to stay.

Wouldn t recommend the breakfast sandwiches but over all the hotel is nice

So this hotel is very misleading, booked a pet friendly room on hotels.com checked in and no questions about pets or if I had pets so I assumed we were good to go...but I assumed wrong I get a angry phone call from front desk demanding I vacate the room and pay 50$ then front desk hangs up and sends the housekeepers to banter at me. They then proceed to tell me that no king-size rooms are pet friendly...well proof is in the pictures.

Second note. The floor has narcotics ground into the carpet.

So WARNING TO FAMILIES THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO STAY
So if I were you I'd spend my money elsewhere

Stayed here March 16, 2021 as I had to be in the city for some medical tests. I didn t have a reservation but I chose The Royal because as an accommodation operator myself, I quite liked their responses to some of their other reviews.
I was absolutely thrilled Steven at the front desk allowed me to check in much earlier than their posted check in time as I was really tired. I wasn t picky about the room type and he put me in a king size room in the executive wing which worked out really well because the other wing s rooms don t have windows that open.
My room was clean, it was quiet, I was able to get a great night s sleep and the customer service provided by Steven was excellent. The hotel is also close to lots of great restaurants that deliver which was convenient as theirs is currently closed due to Covid.
The complimentary hot breakfast was a Jimmy Dean Bacon and Egg sandwich, coffee or tea and a bottle of juice or water. Sandwich could have been heated a bit longer but it wasn t cold so I didn t mind much.
All in all, I will definitely stay here again and I ll recommend it to others that need to stay in the west end.

Service is rough here and even though you put down pet friendly room you will have workers knocking at your door and demanding you to leave or to pay them more money even though they don t make you sign anything for a pet deposit or anything! The room service ladies are rude and none of the staff wear masks while working in public areas and you get glared at by all of them! Even if you book a pet friendly room make sure you clarify it s pet friendly cause appearntly there website isn t true and doesn t matter what room you book on the website it s whatever room they give you! More in likely won t stay here again!

Great Hotel, great location for our business trip, in room dining was amazing. Great service and very friendly staff.

Very good value overall. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel has a charming lobby, as well as gym and pool facilities. Unfortunately due to Covid they were shut). The in house bar looks decent as well. Lastly complimentary late checkout was not an issue. Will certainly return

I really enjoyed the room itself. However, it wasn t at all what they told me I was getting.
Very rude customer service. If your younger, like under 40 I wouldn t recommend this hotel. They treated me like I was less than, and had many inconsistencies on their policy s on booking a room.
When trying to rebook today, I was again treated badly, with a cold tone and me being constantly interrupted.
All I wanted was a little understanding, if not, to at least be friendly. It honestly made me feel like she didn t care about the guests having a good stay, or even booking a room.
This is not the first time I felt unwelcome and talked down to by members of front desk.
Only once while checking out one time, this nice lady helped me do EXACTLY what I called to get done today.(wish I knew her name)

I had planned on frequenting this hotel, and making it a regular thing.
Again, this isn t about the request that only ONE receptionist could fulfill. Its after being treated so poorly. Needless to say, I ll be finding a kinder hotel.
