Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Nice and clean with good facilities.
The attached restaurant served nice food.
Would recommend.
Small but nice, comfortable bed and clean room, friendly staff, just what I needed after a long day traveling
A lovely couple of days here in the Victorian tradition that the hotel upholds. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Our corridor had been repainted. Good heating throughout. There's a good selection of food which was enjoyable and the bread is delicious. Most staff are very helpful. Very conveniently located right next to the Station entrance. Would definitely recommend as a typical Scottish experience and would revisit.
Great Hotel within easy reach of bus and train station. Food is excellent and staff are very polite. We go there several times a year it's that good.
This hotel is very tired and dated, and would greatly benefit from a refurb. The room felt very run down, creaking floorboards and light switches that didnt work. The bed was a standard double, so if you're used to sleeping on a bigger bed at home then you may struggle. Doors are thin so you can hear everything going on in the corridor etc. Didnt stay for breakfast so cant comment on that. If it wasnt for the lovely staff who were really helpful and polite, and the close proximity to the railway station, I would have rated lower.
Place is falling apart and is in serious need of a paint job plus the ceiling are all nicotine stained and all the woodwork is rotten, I know the place is old but it should still be getting maintenance and made to look good.
And some of the employees are not welcoming, also they have only 7 parking spaces that anyone Inverness can park and the shower just dribbles on you. Food was good beds were clean and comfortable tho and good size of tv.
Stayed for two nights, the hotel is right next to the train station and is very central for shopping etc. The room we had was very clean and bed comfortable. We had our dog with us and the hotel was very dog friendly. The food for our evening meal was delicious as was the breakfast, which had plenty of choice. The staff were very friendly and also helpful with any requests. I would highly recommend the Royal Highland and will be revisiting again.
A wonderful hotel with welcoming staff and the staircase that was used in the film Titanic. Absolutely breathtaking.
was a great experience . nice clean hotel in great central location . only gripe is the limited on site parking but there are cheap parking nearby
Have enjoyed another visit to the ROYAL HIGHLAND HOTEL Inverness . My husband and I try to go twice a year for a few years now . This hotel is in the centre of the city and easy to get to by bus train if like us had to give up our car . You get such a warm welcome the minute you arrive and we were given room 213 which was beautifully furnished .
Through evening meal has a wonderful selection of dishes to choose from and always arrives piping hot and being sweet toothed the sticky toffee pudding is to die for .
Breakfast menu covers everything you could ask for and more with a selection of muffins and Danish pastries . The HEAD WAITRESS ( shame on me I can't Remember her name ) always talks to everyone and makes you feel special .
The lounge has a beautiful staircase leading up to a photograph gallery .This hotel is well worth a visit . Anne
Rude reception but the night crew was great. Hotel is very old squeaky floors.our room was above the train station little noisy but a great experience
Had a superb stay here. The hotel has such amazing character and is in an amazing location. We were so impressed with the value and service that we received.
There was a bit of daytime construction that was happening while we were napping but the staff were very apologetic, which was appreciated.
The minute you walk into this stunning hotel you are always welcomed with happy friendly staff more than willing to help . We have now been in 4 different rooms and there all equally as beautiful, clean and warm with a fantastic welcome tray , always plenty of hot water for showers or baths . The breakfast is buffet style and always has something to suit everyone's needs and the staff are on the ball to help or clear the table . Just home from another comfortable and relaxing stay and can't recommend this hotel enough , thank you again to everyone .
Dropped in here for a breakfast. Full breakfast is open to non residents. A real treat.
Given the keys to the smallest room in the attic. Managed to get changed to a room with an adult sized bed and some desk space. Makes a Travelodge etc. look like good value.
quite an old hotel but it's just beside the railway station. parking can be a problem too. you might have to park your car at the nearby mall behind the hotel.
Hotel and room were excellent value for money and very clean .Buffet breakfast was excellent. Could do with draft excluders or new windows. We had to keep curtains drawn and lights on but heater in room was very good. Would definitely go back
Hotel has obviously just changed hands. is no longer called Royal Highland, but Leonardo. Rooms are okay, the breakfast is ok, but the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. The hotel is a half hour bus ride outside the city. Because of the distance to the center for a city trip rather unsuitable. There are plenty of parking spaces.
We enjoyed our stay in this hotel
The room was very clean
The meals were great, good variety and plentiful, breakfast was great
We would stay here again on our next visit to Inverness
Very posh, however the food is definitely not fresh and some of the workers are worked over the legal amount of hours. keep it up x
Was asked to put my shopping bags at the back where I could not see them. Thought this was a strange request! I did not wish to do this so was seated elsewhere. Food was good.
Great location in the heart of Inverness. Comfortable rooms, helpful staff, baggage room available. Right next to the train station. Near multiple bars, restaurants, and stores. Only con is that the staircase is very narrow.
Grand entrance, but really pokey 3rd floor room with tired decor (peeling wallpaper) and fixtures. The draughty window meant the electric radiator had to stay on all night, clicking loudly at the foot of the bed as it heated and cooled. And the noise from outside came in too so not a good sleep.
Dinner was ok, but service was poor. I felt it was an inconvenience we were there. Breakfast buffet definitely quantity over quality, and all self service while 4 staff stand watching - go figure....
Traditional Hotel in great location. Central for city walks and trains
Clean well presented rooms. Comfortable and welcoming.
The room (118) suitable for use by a wheelchair user was taken for the night. The room was spaceous enough, as was the bathroom/toilet. A wheeled shower chair was thoughtfully provided. The dinner, taken in the evening, seafood risotto - duck breast - pudding, was tasty and well presented. There was a fine range of malt whiskies to enhance one's stay. Breakfast had a vast choice of hot and cold foods but the room (not the dinner room) was rather soulless and huge, which is ok if you don't want to sit near anybody. The best bit was the view from the bedroom window; straight out onto the station platform; and of course the proximity (obvious really) to the station is a bonus. The staff were pleasant and efficient. So why three stars? The shower offered only scalding hot water. Every permutation of knob twiddling was tried with no success: boiling water or nothing. Not only was this a waste of my time but very dangerous, particularly for someone with mobility difficulties. To be fair, they did not charge for the room but I would rather have the assurance of a well maintained, safe, comfortable hotel.
They say they have parking spaces, but the spaces a limited. So we didn't get one and had to pay the local parking meter
Great for a short break.
Breakfast is great,but very busy.
Beautiful lobby - and thats more or less that. The staffe do what they have to do - but nothing more. The reastueant/bar in the lobby is a ripp-off. Even thou you get a discount if you stay at the hotel... FORGET IT. But on the other hand you can sit and relax there if you want, cos the waiters won't annoy you, they are busy with..... !!!!!
Rooms are SMALL, but clean. I will not recmend this place.... There are a lot of better options in this city, at at much better price.
Parking is non-existent. 7 spaces if you're lucky. Couldn't even park the car in order to walk into reception.
Then struggled to get the car back out due to taxis and rogue cars abandoned.
Tried to call the hotel to discuss this and there was no answer.
Not impressed.
Enjoyable stay. Friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Perfectly positioned beside the city station.
An amazing historical experience. Staff friendly, helpful and willing to assist travelers.
Wonderful hotel taken from a movie, the rooms large bedrooms as castle
The hotel is beautiful with ornate staircase and reception area at the entrance. Reasonable prices for food and drink. Staff seem a little out of sorts and while they are not rude they seem to have a no sense of urgency.
Very nice hotel with comfortable rooms and helpful staff. The food was okay.
We have visited this hotel every year for last six years. It never dissapoints. The cleanliness of the rooms, quality of food and service, knowledge of staff are exceptional. Will definitely stay again. May I also say as a disabled person that the accessible facilities exceed my expectations. Well done the Royal Highland Hotel.
Booked this hotel as it stated it had free parking and was close to all amenities. However although the parking was free. There were 9 spaces to accommodate 40+ rooms, which meant we couldn't get a space and had to park a mile away and walk with luggage and a dog through the city. The hotel was right next door to the train station which made it incredibly noisy, the room was old fashioned and outdated. We booked a double room but upon arrival were given 2 single beds and told there was no free double rooms, the bathroom was dirty and had human hair all over basin. When we complained to the two women on the desk we were met with rude, uninterested dismissive awnsers and no one came to clean it. We moved the beds together as it was meant to be a romantic weekend away, to find the carpet ripped and ducktaped back together. There were numerous pills under the bed. And on further inspection the cuttlery was filthy. After getting nowhere with the staff on reception we decided to leave, we asked to speak to management and were blatebtlt ignored by a young man on the reception desk. He put out his hand for the room key and didn't even look up. We would not reccomend this hotel!!
Great location, a very elegant stately hotel, good breakfast.
Old grandeur, many dots (leaking faucet, non-flushing toilet) that do not match. Location is great.
We stayed here at the end of September during an unusually warm few days. Our room was a bit warm and stuffy at night and the window was painted shut. In hindsight I should have requested a different room. Beyond that the room itself was very nice. The hotel was beautiful, the staff was very helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was the best we had in the two weeks we stayed in Scotland! Excellent food, wide variety, and the coffee machine made everything I could ever want! The location next to the rail station was ideal after a long flight and train trip! I'd definitely stay there again!
Had good and bad points. Was very close to the station, literally right outside. However the hotel itself is very dated. The rooms looked a bit run down, the floor boards were very creaky and the walls were thin, meaning you can hear if anyone walks down the hall. Overall a convenient location but not in great shape.
Nice spacious antique type rooms with bath tub, next to railway station and very near to bus station, castle and cathedral and shopping centres and restaurants
Wonderful ambience and service. Great place to meet with a friend and share afternoon tea.
Mucky seats, slow service, rubbish starter, main wasnt much better.......very disappointed!!
Loved the hotel.
Old hotel and kept warm. Staff super attentive.
Wonderful cuisine, delicious food and beautiful presentation.
Tip: take room service until 22pm
Inverness is a warm and harmonious city. We love it.
The Royal Highlands hotel made all the difference to know Inverness.
We had the best of the city this hotel is a piece of the past well maintained these days
We recommend.
There is not nearly enough parking for the number of rooms, so we got stuck in a paid lot. Part of why we picked the hotel was for the free parking. The staff at the desk were dismissive when we asked about the free parking and did not care that we were upset about having to use the paid lot. While the common areas are beautiful, the room itself had one small window with no view and was a bit run down. Would not stay again and would not recommend.
Very comfortable historic hotel, bar and restaurant in Inverness station square.
Visited in April and had an excellent stay. Good service, good breakfast/ selection, rooms clean and well decorated and great location. Looking forward to my return next month!
Very central and therefore quite loud. The rooms are not air-conditioned and the windows should not be opened because of the street noise.
Wifi only conditionally receivable. The breakfast room is uncomfortable.
Rooms were lovely and cozy. Food was great.cocktails were fantastic. Staff were very friendly
This is a quaintly old world hotel that is located right next to Inverness railway station. Excellent location. Great breakfast buffet. Friendly staff. Decor is remiscent of days gone by. My room needed a little freshening up in terms of painting but it was very comfortable. Good food at the restaurant at reasonable prices. A very nice sitti g area on the ground floor.
The Royal Highland hotel is a mediocre hotel to stay in Inverness. Here are the good, ok and bad things about this hotel
Good things
1. Good location near to the train station and very convenient for exploring Inverness
Bad things
The room was shabby with dirty windows with grass growing in the gutters around the window frames.
Severe lack of policing COVID-19 social distancing measures (such as face masks)
The breakfast was a buffet with a lot of touch points No policing of hand sanitiser going into breakfast. One pair of tongs for bread into toaster, touch screen tea and coffee machine with one communal milk jug.
Lovely rooms, receptionist fully help full, explaned everything and rest of staff very friendly and approachable
Beautiful hotel, staff are lovely and nothing was a problem, and as im ceoliac they came with a special menu for our evening meal in the ash resturant. Breakfast was a buffet where u help urself with lots of choices and i was offered gluten free bread for toast which is kept separate frm normal bread. We will def be back and i wouldnt hav a problem recommending this hotel to others
Incredibly worthless! Room very small 2 person bed.Breakfast was unbelievable bad.We have also eaten in the restaurant, with no pen so incredibly bad!
We have made a whole trip through Scotland and have been in a number of hotels and B & B. Fit was our worst experience during the entire trip.
Thee place to relax and have a proper high tea. Historically gorgeous artsy lobby and oh that stairway!!
Food excellent. Staff same. Beautiful hotel. Just yards from station.
Enjoyed our stay very much. This was due to the lovely staff who could not do enough for us. Our room was lovely and the meals excellent. We had to leave early in the morning and they were able to lay on a great breakfast.
We can't wait to return!
The hotel looks very chic at first glance. The Titanic-inspired staircase is just beautiful.
The rooms are small and the furniture could be replaced. Sure it's a boutique hotel but that doesn't mean the furniture has to be broken. The beds were scuffed and in the bathroom the paint and plaster came off the ceiling. It was also very noisy, as it felt like 7000 glass containers had to be emptied at 6 a.m.
The breakfast area is like a train station hall. Very big and loud. The food is lying around carelessly in the buffet.
Conclusion: okay for one night, no parking space, in need of renovation
Great hotel central easy to find, 5 mins from the bus station
Very comfortable lounge, and lovely food, just perfect for a break from shopping
Old hotel well maintained but in need of a good refurbishment.
Room was too hot meal was ok bed was abit uncomfortable
Very bad experience today with the afternoon tea. The management tried to blame us for the mistakes they made. It's time for a whole new management over there!
Just an evening visit into the bar / lounge. Very welcoming and warm. The hotel lobby and restaurant were busy, which reflected the popularity of the Royal Highland Hotel.
Lovely place to spend an afternoon drinking tea and hiding from the world
Very overpriced for what feels like microwaved meals.
Supercentric and well connected. Highlights its stairs that were inspiration in the movie Titanic
Perfectly placed next to the station. nice looking inside. the rooms were roasting hot.
Find the hotel very comfortable, staff friendly, and food is very good, most enjoyable stay.
0ur three day stay at the hotel was very very good.Rooms lovely, food great.Friendly and helpful staff, altogether a lovely relaxing time.
Will be booking up again.
Nice hotel, extensive breakfast buffet, parking next to the hotel can be a problem, but then you can park in the garage under the shopping mall for 5 pound for the whole day/night.
