We went to RR Hyundai to buy a car with a friend of ours to help us and get another opinion. We were greeted by a salesperson (Charles, I believe) who seemed nice in the beginning. After explaining to him that we were looking for a not-so-expensive car, preferably model A or B, he first showed us some used cars. This would have been fine, but he started with a completely different kind of model which was pricy and had a lot of miles. Bad start... Asking for models A or B, he showed us some more expensive cars, also with a high mileage. He simply "forgot" to show those cars which were cheaper (because they had less extras) or less mileage (because they were generally newer). We had to ask specifically for those cars, pointing them out on the lot, but we didn't get a good feeling at this time. The test drive he offered was OK, but he didn't seem interested when my wife wanted to drive the car as well -- she had to ask like three times to get the test drive as well. Finally, the prices on the cars were completely different than those advertised on the internet. Asking him how this would come about, he mentioned something about rebates we could get *if* we were eligible for them. Those rebates are not mentioned on their website anywhere!! So, we went inside to see what kind of deal he could offer, and his first offer was more than 2,000$ above the price we had seen on the internet. When our friend started asking how the price is made and why the price online and offline are so different, he started opposing him in a way that became more and more unfriendly as time went by. Eventually he got an invoice that stated the MSRP, options, etc which said that they bought the car for X dollars. He then explained that the internet price Y is simply the MSRP minus the rebates, but he didn't seem too eager to explain why he was 100$ off (one would guess that it's pretty simple to subtract 1000$ from X). He also said that we couldn't get one of the two rebates because we're not eligible, and he would only give us 500$ off the price which was on the car. After a lengthy discussion about the price he made his final offer which was still 600$ above the advertised internet price. After refusing that offer he got the local branch manager who said he can't do any better than Z, but at least he got the correct price (MSRP less 500$ rebate). Overall we didn't feel happy about the way they make prices, so we left, but without the car... Went to South Point Hyundai the day after, and they were so much more friendly, comforting, etc... If we had known this before, we would have gone there in the first place.
