Riverside house cafe here is great. Polite and friendly staff and food and drink is very good. Pricey mind but good quality. The library is ok too and facilities are good. As for other parts of council I can t comment as I don t know how they are. I would recommend this cafe to anyone who likes a walk down canal and want somewhere to eat or drink.
Would give a zero if I could horrible place horrible staff library section are horrible who don t offer help to young people very discriminative regret going to this excuse of a council for help

Renting a council house off Rotherham Council is one of the most depressing situations anyone could find themselves in. The properties are sub standard. Fortem looks after the repairs, and this is a nightmare. Repairs are bodged and reactive and they sometimes don't even turn up at all when they have an appointment. They're only interested in making profit. The streets are dirty and some of the council staff are absolutely useless. How did our Town come to this?

Run by ignorant and obnoxious managers who ignore valid complaints and concerns from visitors to the town who complain because they obtain parking charges in an area that was claimed to be free. Unfortunately because of mismanagement, inappropriate, conflicting advertising information the council feel that they can penalise the very same individuals and their family who were visiting and supporting the town. I regret that now because I have been forced to paying the council a parking fee, I will never set foot in the town again. The council Chief Executive, Head of Development and Tourism, the Parking Manager and Mayor have all completely ignored my reasoned argument. I will now ignore Rotherham.

Currently on hold, now been 25 minutes, council closes at 5.30, bet no one answers before then, why do we even pay our council tax for non existent services.
Mental Health Service is non existant, child services are deplorable, customer services are generally amateurish. Website is out of date and the town centre needs resuscitation rather than regeneration.

Just had a meeting with council re social housing, the staff couldn't be more helpful or polite. We also had a meal in the cafe with the family, it too was just the job. The building is quite a nice place to visit on its own, with Cafe and Library to look around. Tickety Boo
Rotherham council after this child abuse scandle were shown to be totally incompetent.If lessons are now learnt,i think or hope they at least wrote letters to the loved ones of those children who were affected with sincere apologies AND compensation.But no doubt they did neither.

After a very negative response from Sheffield regarding finding a new care home for my Aunt after hers closed I contacted Rotherham Social Services. They could not have been more helpful. Within three days we had found a place for her in a Rotherham Council Carehome.
The worst customer service I've ever had. Disgusting lack of manners or pride in their city. If you hate your job so much maybe you're in the wrong profession. Fire the whole joke of a council and start again.
Absolutely horrendous experience. They couldn't have been more unhelpful after a recent bereavement. Utterly incompetent and didn't even know the basics of housing law. More importantly, they didn't even say sorry for your loss when we phoned. Left our family even more stressed and shell shocked when we have a funeral tomorrow. They need to put new processes in place and fully re-train staff. Made a tragic and horrendous situation much worse:
Received a letter from Rotherham council explaining the refuse sites will be open from Wednesday 6th may from 9am . Went Thursday morning staff there had no idea and said it will be opening at 10.30 !!! can't even get times right.

Very apaling. Always threatening to take us to court when we clearly send evidence that makes us exempt from council tax. Scam artists. Car parking is a scam too. They limit how long you can pay for on street parking on purpose so you go above the time limit and end up with a PCN. Do not bother coming to town centre if there is no off street parking available. Spit on your faces you unethical people.

Filled in 3 complaints, so far, about the horrendous service at tge (privatised) crematorium. None answered yet, perhaps if I wrote in Urdu I would get an answer. Rotherham Council doesn't exist for us any more.
Although I am not the biggest fan of Rotherham Council by any means...I have to give credit where it is due . The Rotherham show this year was, I feel , the best that I ave ever been too. The whole event from start to finish was absolutely superb . Plenty of toilet facilities, a great variety of shows and acts to watch and a time table readily available so that everyone could see what was going on.......The high-lights for us as a family were, the Brass bands, the Retro singer and the circus which was brilliant. Really hoping that they can come back again, it really was a fabulous family experience . .........Thank you .
Out of work and after hrs struggling with an over complicated ridiculous online council tax reduction form wouldn't knock a penny off my bill. Now charging for garden waste bins also. I remember years ago my house got flooded and a council tax bloke turned up and said best turn that settee upside down because looks like someone could still live here......that was with bricks wallpaper etc hanging off the walls and the whole house etc wet thru and drying with industrial dryers.. No respect for them.
Truly appalling Children's Services. No support given when asked for it, concerns dismissed despite a child being at risk, lies and misinformation in reports and complaints passed pillar to post with no resolution. Absolutely shocking service received and would not advise anyone to ask for help.

I have trying to sort my council bill since last september all they do is send me different bills been down to council so maney times one doesnt know what the other one is doing infact they havnt a clue recently went down again the woman on reception wouldnt even let me see anyone she was very rude to me and my son thought she new it all saying ive worked here 20yrs and im not wrong google it all load of rubbish she came out with even talking loud so other people waiting could hear my personel buisness not happy with rotherham council staff need either re training or sacking

Refuse information states quite clearly that textiles will be taken away of they are double bagged. Someone needs to inform the refuse collectors of this as they quite clearly don't understand.

Worse council ever .. dont care about no body only there selfs and as long as there house arent empty all about getting peoples money... my sister has had her house 2years and the amout off complaints she put in about that house is a joke for 2 years she been promised a kitchen and new bathroom since day one and was supposed to be getting new wiring because nothing been done in house for 25years and now roofs fell though and whats been done nothing all i get told is it will take a while to be done ... so please tell me were my 5year old son is supposed to sleep how am i supposed to bath us both use the toilet or even cook in my kitchen if its fell though its a complete joke and i will be going to the papers on this and my local MP too!!!

Called for advice on renewing my Grandmas blue badge and was told that they would post out the form and then for her to bring it in with her ID etc. and they would sit down with her and go through it. On the morning when I was taking her over I called again and they advised that the Rotherham office would be better as they have more staff and she would be seen quicker... huge mistake. Upon arrival we went to the receptionist who said that she needed to fill the form out completely...why advise her to come in then! Twice! I explained we wasnt comfortable with filling in the form and we could do with some help and advice, I was told that they couldn't do that and she should contact age uk! Complete waste of my morning. Awful receptionist attitude and awful advice when I called and they said to come.
Luckily I never need to go in for myself but I feel sorry for anyone who needs to go in for any reason and see any of the incompetent staff.
In the end I attended Maltby and they sat with her and we filled the form out and paid for the renewal. Why couldn't the Rotherham office do that!

Housing and council tax departments do no know their arse from their elbow. Whoever decided this council is now fit for purpose obviously doesn't rent one of their properties or pay council tax to RMBC. We have one of the highest C/tax rates outside London, and for what??!
The council say if you are disabled and apply for a job you will get an interview if you reach the first selection, caring people no you don't ever reach the selection, thats the council for you.
ROTHERHAM METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL should be ashamed . I have paid for a brown bin and also paid for coming year. However, if they don't empty it on allocated date and could be down to "human error" they only have a "limited window" for you to report it regardless if you are away on daytrips and following day you lose the will to live hanging on the phone. So you have to wait til next collection day (4 weeks hence) or take it to dump-it site. No refund, "see terms and conditions". No available supervisor to speak and wouldn't return call as "outside limited window".
So people be very aware!! and make sure you read tneir "terms and conditions.

I was horrified of how I was treated by a member of Rotherham Council staff. I do not live in Rotherham so as an outsider I would be appalled paying council tax to these clowns. I'm still not sure if the person that I dealt with was utterly incompetent or a compulsive liar. Either way, I think they need an outside body to come in and so an overhaul. They need to audit every member of staff, making sure they are adequately qualified to do the role they are employed to do, the person I dealt with clearly was not.
