Bought a sweet bike for 180 yesterday. Cannot believe the value for such a good price. Mechanically it is running like a dream and I got 3 months warranty with it. Staff were excellent and I got great advice. Bargain!!

My favourite bike shop. I go a bit out of my way to go and get my bike fixed there because there are the only ones I trust. My partner also got a bike from them, and she could not be happier.
I got two bikes from these guys, one for me and one for my boyfriend. The guys in the shop are sound and the prices are very reasonable. Great experience altogether, I will be back soon for my tune up.
- there s no way to respond to the response so I m just updating this: Thanks for your reply. I went to the fade street shop, is that not yours?
Brought my giant defy 4 there just to align the chain. Dropped the bike in, got a call a few hours later to tell me that the whole chain kit had to be changed. Cost 120 . Since the bike was 4 years old I thought it could be good to change that and get it back to its younger days. That evening I picked up the bike, and on my way home the chain kept skipping. Every time I pressed hard on the pedal it skipped. I brought it back the next day and was told I had to use the gears better and use smaller gears going up hill, or when starting at a green light. I cycled this same way for 4 years with the original chain, never had an issue. Nevertheless, the chap looked at it turned a few screws and on my way i went. A bit better, still not amazing, for a few days. Then it started again. The bike has not been the same since, it s like riding an old bike, they don t know how to fix it and when they try it say nothing is wrong..
While they are nice lads, they are not able to work on a good bike. Bring in your old second hand bikes, or bring them for puncture repairs, but if you have a decent bike, avoid them at all costs!
Super pro and knowledgeable. Repairs are done very promptly (it did take a bit longer because of Covid), and my bike always feels like new. Super system with WhatsApp also, they communicate with you before doing any work. Recommended for sure!
This has to be the best bike shop in Dublin. I bought a bike through the cycle-to-work scheme. At all stages I was guided towards the best bike for me that matched my needs. The staff are friendly and very knowledgable.
Love this shop! Went in with my bike to work voucher and the team helped me choose the perfect bike for my commuter needs with all the necessary accessories as well as helping me though the bike to work process. Very helpful in decision-making and upkeep for the bike after the purchase. Thank you!
I ve bought parts in this shop in the past and always found them reasonable- not cheap. However, today was quoted 30 euro for a 6 speed gear shifter. I would expect to pay around 10, even cheaper if I went online. The shop is described as a non profit shop. Not sure how true this is. Maybe rents, rates, wages and all other bills are making this shop just as expensive as the Hugh bike supermarkets we see around the place. Thanks for the previous purchases but I ll be buying of amazon from now on.
I bought my bike from Rothar through bike to work scheme in April 2020. The quality of the service I received was just great. All staff members are very helpful and positive, they did everything that they possibly could do to help me to find the bike which suits my needs perfectly. They were also very mindfull about the COVID-19 restriction. They only allowed one person inside s the shop at a time. If I ever need to buy another bike I would go to Rother with no doubt in mind!
I'm totally new to biking, and the owner was willing to tell me anything I wish to know. After I told him my budget, he didn't "despise" me like other stores. His hospitality made me want to buy a second hand bike just ten minutes after our conversation. I got a fair price of 230 for a second-handed free wheel bike and a decent lock and a three months warranty. Got to appreciate the nice owner.
I went to a few bike shops before I visited Rothar and it was definitely the best. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful, I would highly recommend this store.
The best customer service providers, highly recommend. I have been back twice having been served by Steve the first time, then Dave the following and both were really helpful to ensure my bike was 100% safe for use. Also a huge credit to this service provider for strictly (and efficiently) abiding by the COVID-19 safety measures in their shop.
They assessed a set of forks for me, found them to be unrepairable and offered me a preowned set for a reasonable price to replace them. Absolute life savers. Great mechanics and a great shop
Bought an electric bike from them. It was a bit late to arrive but they kept me updated, even suggested a loan of another bike, and myou commute is now sweat free and faster. Thanks Rothar!
Had a problem with my old bike, they fixed it in front of me, didn t charge me, and nicely told me I needed a new bike. Bit cash shy, but after a couple of months I got myself one of their Hybrids, it runs like a charm and they even transferred my tyres and bits onto the new machine for free. Nice lads
Great customer experience recently from Anne and her team in Rothar, Phibsboro. Great service, great price and it's a social enterprise! Support local businesses. Shop local! Thanks
I have recently bought a wonderful Orbea mountain bike from Rothar which is a joy to ride - day in, day out. Through the purchase process the Rothar folks could not have been more helpful, as delivery was delayed by a company plant fire, and they kept in touch regularly until my bike arrived. I have used Rothar to repair and service my bikes for many years and even though they are now only in Phibsborough, I will continue to seek them out because of their excellent service and value for money. Cyclists in Dublin are lucky to have a shop to serve them like Rothar and long may this continue.
I was fortunate to meet Anne originally in their south side branch and followed her north side when I was ready to buy. A real passion for cycling, she took time to understand my needs and what kind of cycling I was involved in. I would highly recommend them for the personal service I received and have a wonderful bike that I love.
Excellent service. As a new cyclist I had no idea what bike/accessories to buy to suit my needs and they patiently went through everything. They clearly know their field very well and to be honest were a pleasure to deal with. Would highly recommend them to anyone.
It was a pleasure to deal with Anne and her colleagues in Rothar. They gave me really helpful and practical advice about the best bike for me; I was able to take it for several test spins in the area; and there was great care and attention given to properly adjusting the bike to suit my height and comfort levels. I ll happily continue using Rothar for all my cycling related needs.
I was in need of a bike during lock down for some exercise within my 2km limit (walking got boring really quickly). I dropped Rothar an email and they came back to me with a great selection of bikes to choose from. They has lot of stock to test cycle on and once I completed mt Cycle to Work application, Rothar had a new bike built and accessories for me within the day! They told me to come back after 1 month for a check up and 6 months for a service. Couldn't recommend them more if you are in need of a new bike, service or repair.
On a 5 star scale this lovely shop scores 10+1, I can highly recommend them to everyone. They know all there is to know about bikes and accessories, they are friendly and very helpful, amazing customer service! I couldn t be happier with my new bike and accessories, they literally helped me with everything!
Had a lovely experience at Rothar. For a person who knew absolutely nothing about bikes they were very helpful and informative. They have been great with follow-up services and bike maintenance. I have had no problem in recommending them to friends looking to get bikes as well.
Excellent service. Had an issue with this bike I bought from abroad and brought it to many other bike shops, but none of them were able to help me. I brought it to Rothar, and Steve saw straight away what the problem was. It took a while to find the parts, but he kept me posted along the way and now the bike is running like a charm. Could not be happier.
Highly recommend this bike shop, they are selling quality products, I bought a Dutch style bike made in Belgium few weeks ago, Dave and Anne were very knowledgeable, prompt to respond to my emails and my probably very stupid basic questions. Process for the cycle to work scheme was super smooth. Overall I had a great experience at this shop. Nice to support a small business that does such a great work!
I recently bought a bike for my 6 year old daughter from Rothar. The customer service was excellent, friendly and efficient . Steve was a pleasure to deal with, he even sent the bike from Dublin to Cork. I would highly recommend Rothar.
I recently got an Orbea bike in Rothar Phibsboro shop. The service I got it couldn't be better, I told the manager what type of cyclist I am and she recommended me this wonderful bike! It is handy as well that the store is in the Bike to Work Scheme. I would highly recommend this place
Super helpful for the whole process. Sorted my bike through the bike to work scheme, got myself a great bike with all the additional bits I needed, helmet, pannier rack & bag. Staff were super helpful, and we're able to get me exactly what I needed.
Passionate about cycling, we, my family and I found people as passionate as we are. They are very professional and know how to direct you to the accessories that will make your daily life different (bag, phone holder, etc.). By the way, I want to tell you that your website is awesome ... Thank your team to be able to have good advice
I recently bought a new touring bike here through the cycle to work scheme and it couldn t have been easier. I had been shopping around until I contacted Rothar. Steve guided me through what I would and wouldn t need via email, how the process worked and made some great recommendations. I couldn t be happier with the whole process, they ve done a great job of guaranteeing repeat customer.
Excellent shop! Anne and team very friendly and happy to share their expertise and knowledge. They were also very accommodating and patient with the bike-to-work scheme for me! This will definitely be my go-to place for future services and tune-ups!
The only bike shop I trust to fix my bike. They are also friendly and don't hesitate to go the extra mile to help you. I recommend them for all your needs
Had a great experience buying a Tern folding bike from Rothar. Brilliant people to deal with. They went out of the way to sell me the bike that would best work for my needs, rather than the one that was most expensive. Highly recommended
Dropped in, needing a tube replaced. I was expecting to leave it for 24 hours minimum. It was done in 30 minutes by a really friendly guy. Great service!
Amazing customer experience, support and delivery. The staff was helpful from the fist interaction and the bike is phenomenal. I'm really happy about this purchase.
I highly recommend Rothar. There is an excellent selection of bikes to choose from and the staff are friendly and genuine and will advise you of the most appropriate bike for your specific needs. (I bought an Achielle - the perfect City bike!)
Bought a Marin Muirwoods bike from Rothar last month on the bike to work scheme and I love it! Within an hour of visiting the shop and deciding on the bike that I wanted, I had the invoice in my email ready to send to my employer. Customer service in Rothar is second to none. All staff know what they are talking about and make no attempt to sell you anything other than what you need. I m thoroughly impressed by the bike and by the shop and will definitely be back. Highly recommended.
I bought 2 bikes for my son's and they are delighted with them. The service was excellent and Steve was patient, knowledgeable and informative during the decision making process. The shop itself is a pleasure to be in with great music playing in the background and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. If you are looking for a new bike this is the place to go :-)
Great spot to stop in and give your bike a tune up. You probably need to know how to work on your own bike though. Sometimes, if there are a few people working, then there is no room for you to work on your bike. It's great that they have such a good resource like this. Quite inexpensive too, compared to going to a standard bike shop.
Incredible staff and a great place! Did the bike to work scheme and they were fantastic, brilliant service every step of the way. Even called out to my house when there was a issue and fixed it on the spot. Above and beyond. I will be getting all my bike bits and services with Anne and the crew in Rothar.
Extremely friendly & helpful staff, will always to their utmost to assist with any issue, or any information needed with anyone. Always a great service!
Great bike shop! Very friendly and knowledgable They did and amazing job on my bike Couldn t be happier ! Changed my tyres and did a general service My bike was ready the next day,I got the bike super clean, basically like new and rides better than ever!
Popped my tire on the way to work this morning and Rothar was the closest shop. Walked in and was automatically helped and fixed up with a new tire in 15 minutes. Highly recommend going here for any repair.
Great shop with a select range of excellent bikes and accessories. Anne is extremely knowledgeable and helpful and their service is second to none. I'd highly recommend them!
Brought a electric bike in this shop a few weeks ago. I wanted a shop that was near to where i lived and could maintain the bike for me. Don't be afraid because of some negative comments on here, they are good at what they do..
This is my go-to bike shop in Dublin. It's a little out of the way for me but they are always very helpful and knowledgeable and I've been going there for years. Great customer service.
I attended a bike maintenance course in the Phisboro shop and I was very impressed. The Mecanic / intructor was very friendly and helpful. My overall understanding about my bike has improved and I feel more confident now!
Excellent service. Really informative at every stage of my purchase. Bike is great , and am looking forward to going back to shop in future for all my biking needs
Overpriced. Paid 100 + to change the fork! Disappointed and would not come back! EDIT: Yes, my fork was changed in July this year! I believe it's not fair to presume that I'm confusing you with shop down the road. Like nono this could not happen in our shop, but guys down the road yes :O My bad I did not write that I had my fork changed in July. True, I left my first Google review ever for another bike shop because I was so happy with their service and price! I have asked them out of curiosity how much would cost fork change and they advised cca 30 in their shop. I was immediately disappointed and decided to write review for your shop. Maybe young guy in your store realised when I came in that I don't know much about bikes and was stressed out as car just knocked me down and basically would say yes for any price. Overall very disappointing experience. To be exact I have paid 110 for fork change! Would never step in your shop again! Ps. Perhaps you should have different approach to your customers and ask me questions not just presume that my review is not genuine. That is already telling enough about your business.
I found Rothar brilliant to deal with. We bought two bikes from them during Covid 19 lockdown, and they couldn t have been more helpful. They delivered everything to us, and assembled any spare parts. The bikes on offer seemed so much more stylish than anywhere else I had looked at. I really recommend them.
A big thank you to the staff [Anne, Dave & Freddie specifically] in Rothar - I ordered a custom Achielle Sam bike through them [took roughly 7 weeks to arrive into the store which is a little longer than expected but it's because the manufacturer abroad had a big backlog with COVID]. They really helped me figure out what accessories I needed, let me test ride another Achielle bike to get a feel for it prior to purchase. Love how my bike turned out & how it cycles to date & would highly recommend checking out the options they have available especially if you are able to purchase the bike via the bike to work scheme. :)
This shop is an absolute gem! From the moment we stepped in to the day we got our bikes the owners have provided us with the best service we could have ever expected. A place were you can sense the passion for the product and care for the customer.
I was struggling very much in finding bike which suited my height. I almost visited 10 places before reaching out here. Steven helped us a lot. since it was first time that we ever had bikes he patiently explained us everything. He has amazing collection which can be helpful for anyone. The bike was delivered within a week. Big thanks to them as we had our first bike.
954/5000 I was a regular customer and I used to recommend you, for repairs and to buy products, until in times of COVID I tried to get an appointment for a check of my pedals but it was impossible, the answers were always uncertain and with little will to help me, they said They did not know how long it would take, that I could leave the bike but it could take weeks, I felt a total lack of commitment or willingness to help me. I fully understand that there is more demand in these times. I could wait, but the "Diva" attitude of the person on WhatsApp bothered me too much. It was impossible for me to leave my bicycle for an indeterminate time because it is my work tool, I visit many elderly people and that is my healthiest way of transporting myself. Finally, in another Cabra workshop they gave me an exact date for an appointment, I took it and in half a day my problem was solved. Unfortunately for you who lost two clients.
Bought an e-bike here a couple months back. Hadn't a clue what I was looking for. The staff were really helpful and knowledgeable, guided me to an ideal bike. All in all a really good locks bike shop. Would highly recommend!
Amazing company with a social heart. The service is excellent and the knowledge of products really brilliant. Thanks for campaigning for better systems on behalf of the bicyclers of Dublin.
I went to Rothar based on recommendations. Very impressive. Brilliant service and the guys are really knowledgeable. The electric bike I got is exactly what I needed. Super happy.
I had my bike serviced in Rothar recently. The end to end experience was very good. After reviewing the bike, they messaged me with a breakdown of the costs and completed the work quickly. I am extremely happy with the service and would highly recommend using Rothar for your cycling needs.
Things I love about Rothar (there are many - I am sorry):
Staff - friendly, well informed, helpful, patient (!), with zero interest in a hard sell - they'll want you to find the perfect bike for you, even if it's not the most expensive thing in the shop. Anne's team are passionate about what they do, and it shows.
Customer Service - always prompt, polite responses to any and all of my inane queries, (let's mention patient again), realistic measuring of expectations for bike delivery in a cycle-mad lockdown, and they truly went above and beyond to help when my delivery date hit an unfortunate snag.
Location - it's right there on the main road in Phibsborough, what's not to love? Close to town, good bus/luas routes, a shopping centre car park across the way, plus you can bike shop and then hang around the 27th coolest neighbourhood in the world. Win!
Quality - my Achielle Craighton Pickup is just as gorgeous to cycle as it is to look at. Seriously - look at it. Now imagine Also being that nice to cycle. I know - Amazing! On top of it being built to spec, pretty sure they are an exclusive stockist of the brand in Ireland, so I won't be running into many twins on the road.
Price - given the quality of my bike and the fact that they accept the Bike To Work Scheme (super super easy to organise btw), I'm considering it a steal. When I wanted to go off the deep end on more expensive brake choices I didn't really need, I was politely talked down, so technically they saved me some .
Safety - all reassurances you'd want to see in a post-COVID world, masks on staff, customers seen by appointment (super easy to make via email) so no overcrowding in store.
Independent - isn't buying from independent sellers just nicer? Jeff Bezos doesn't need any more of my money, and here I can buy from lovely people who even remember what I named my bike.
Only unfortunate thing I can think of is that bikes aren't really an Every Week kind of purchase, so I can't give them more of my business at the moment. That's why I've bothered writing this - to try give them Your business, Random Google Review Reader. I'll have to settle for just going back for services. Did I mention they do aftercare? Of course they do...because they are great!
I have learnt everything I know about bikes, and how to repair them, from many the fun late Thursday night visit to this bike shop utopia. The owner and staff are knowledgeable and fun and more than happy to give you a guiding hand if you're the type of person who likes to get stuck in and do it them selves. The only down side for them is I now have less reasons to visit Rothar, as I can keep my bike road worthy all by my self. Never the less when you need that specialist tool or that spare part they are my first port of call.
I love this place. The guys are always very helpful and they have a very quick turnaround when they fix my bike, and for a very reasonable price. I also find them to have original stuff like helmets and bikes you cannot find anywhere else.
I have just bought a beautiful custom built bike there (an Achielle) and I could not be happier. The advice and the customer service are great, and they are always very friendly. Highly recommended.
I bought a re-conditioned bike there in November of last year, which I have been using since on a daily basis to commute to work. Absolutely no problem with it, it does its job! The staff was extremely nice and also very helpful. So I definitely recommend to go there if you need a good bike. It's good value for money.
Absolutely outstanding in every sense. Genuinely could not be happier with the service. Really helpful and down to earth people who know what they are talking about.
Fantastic experience throughout in dealing with Rothar. I purchased a new bicycle on the bike-to-work scheme earlier in the summer and their recommendations on a suitable bike, communication and follow-up checks were brilliant. I couldn't recommend Rothar highly enough.
Excellent quality re-conditioned bikes that qualify for the bike to work scheme. I found Rothar great value for money with extremely friendly and helpful staff. I would recommend to anyone.
