I needed a bike for short commutes, and for getting my kids to activities. A friend recommended Rothar, and I am so glad I checked them out. I found a great bike, very good price, through their website. When I contacted them by email, they responded quickly and were really obliging as I needed to visit the shop twice. Everything about my interactions with Anne and Steve was personal, patient, but never pushy. All the necessary accessories were available in the shop, but again, there was no pressure to buy one thing over another, just clear information. I'm delighted with my bike and know the after sales service will be excellent too.

Rothar is an amazing shop! I purchased a second-hand bike from there, which was re-built by their staff. It's beautiful and their customer service was amazing. I was really happy to be supporting an innovative social enterprise. Would recommend for buying a bike or getting repairs done.

Fantastic non profit bike repair store, the guys who work here are very friendly and work hard at fixing your wheels! They also sell refurbished vintage bikes and are always looking for donations. They are much more affordable than other bike stores and have a no nonsense approach to repair. Space is available to rent if you like to fix the bike yourself!

I cannot say enough good things about this local shop. The attention to the customer is incredible. I only know Steve and he is a true gentleman, always helpful and answers all my questions. I got a lovely Orbea bike a year ago at his shop and then decided to buy an electric kit because a real one was too much of an expense at once at the time. Steve has really helped maintain the bike ever since. I am not able for the maintaining bit. I just want the thing to work and the kit sure gives troubles often! Without Steve's help, the bike would still be in bits in my living room. It's a few months on since the kit and I am now about to invest into a proper electric bike. Loads of choices in eBikes out there but I'd rather buy a sound bike (and there's quite a choice at the shop), support my local shop and communicate with someone who knows his profession through and through as well as being the most patient person I know.

I recently arrived in Ireland and enrolled in a cycling lesson from Rothar in ordertorder learn local road safety. In addition to an excellent cycling lesson, they provided additional resources from custom route plans to bike maintenance tips specific to the make and model of my bike. They really went above and beyond and provided exceptional customer service . I would highly recommend them to anytime looking for cycling lessons in Dublin.

From start to finish, advice, setup and delivery, the team at Rothar has been superb. I wanted a bike for a non-cyclist, slightly longer commute and one I could get on the Bike to Work Scheme. The Orbea Gain bike is comfortable, smooth to ride even without power and an excellent recommendation. Thanks Anne, Steve and Freddy for all the no nonsense advice and helpful tips. All this through Covid-19 without a hiccup and even delivered my bike on a Sunday. Recommend you consider Rothar if you're in the market for something similar.

I got 2 bikes delivered to my place in Clare during the lockdown. Ordered them online, the communication was extremely good, and the bikes arrived quickly despite the circumstances. All was done in a very friendly manner. I was really impressed.

They say "Good value for money " however, they changed my tires and brakes cable for 70 . Then they wanted to fix "for my safety" one wheel for 30 . As I do not want to pay 100 , they took off this wheel.
My brakes do not work very well, my tires are discontinued... and I spend 70 for a registered charity community/equal/environmental bike repair.
Charity is a good excuse...

So next time I will fix my bike on my own and for free.
Thank you again for this first and last experience of charity. Next time I will pay a pint to an homeless it will be cheaper.

I recently bought a bicycle from this store. The Achielle Oscar is the best bike I have ever owned and makes my daily commute a breeze. My experiences of ordering through Rothar were exemplary; Anne kept me abreast of developments and was a pleasure to deal with. I returned last month for the bike's one-month "checkup" and, again, the service was highly efficient and cordial. Even though I live in Dublin 14, I intend returning to Rothar for any essential maintenance (Phibsboro is surprisingly close to the city centre). I have been cycling in Dublin for thirty years and no other bicycle sale & repair shop can compete in terms of service quality and advocacy on behalf of cycling.

Lovely carefully selected bikes. Great knowledge/advice and aaaaaamazing service. And they are very nice people too! If you need to buy or fix a bike this is the place to go. I got all the family bikes here!

Friendly and professional service. The staff listens to your requests and guides you with your best interest in mind (safety, practicality, and esthetics). Rothar fixed and upgraded my old, clunky Peugeot with care, including replacing, for free, some parts they had installed which broke down after a few months. I got quotes and repair/upgrade progress through WhatsApp, which I found very convenient. Overall highly recommended bike shop.

Good mechanic BUT very hard on prices...

Just around the corner for "similar" bike *auxiliary equipment* such as locks, pumps, etc etc is 1/3 of the price!!

Shockingly unhelpful service.

Shockingly unhelpful service.

I walked into this shop off the street after the bolt in the stem of my bike broke while I was cycling on the canal. I asked for a replacement stem, which they had but the mechanic said it would take him 3 hours to fit it. (4 bolts) When I asked him if he would lend me an alan key to change the part myself he refused.

I would understand if I was asking the guy for some dangerous power tools, but what kind of bike mechanic is unwilling to lend a person in need of an alan key for 10 minutes so that they can get their bike on the road again?

Luckily there is another bike shop about 3 doors down and they were only too happy to help me out.

I recently went through the Bike-to-Work Scheme and bought my bike from Rothar. They have an excellent selection of bikes, accessories, clothing etc and made a complete novice like me very comfortable in the whole selection process. Very friendly, helpful and I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone who, like me, was thinking about getting a bike / switching to commuting via bike etc. Thanks Rothar!

I went to the beginners Maintenance class last night. I was the only one present out of 4 spots available for each class. I had a fabulous time as not only we were able to go through the whole beginner's programme but we were also able to check things from the more advance classes. I left the place with an (almost) fully checked and fixed bike. It was fabulous. Best 50 ever invested.
I have a few other little things I'd like done but looking at the next class level, I have no doubt that their programme will allow me to fix them. And cycling home after class was simply paradise. Incredible how fixing those little things makes a huge difference.
Thanks Rothar: it is a great teacher you have for those classes. I will be back.

Just moved to the area and found this shop. Their patience (I'm very undecided) and their advice was great. Got a e-bike I'm very happy with and I can just drop in whenever I have a query about it. Delighted.
