I enjoy the ymca for one reason and one reason only. The sauna, steam room and pool. ( That is when there are actually lanes open) The gym and basketball courts are constantly packed and the cardio room is a bit outdated aside from some bikes. Id perfer to take my buisness to snap fitness

Really impressive for a family. We use the pools several times a week. COVID19 has made life different, but activities here are fun for the family. Lifeguards can be too strict, but once you get used to the rules it is fun. Overall, the staff is nice and they work hard to make you feel comfortable.

Met the rudest lady at the front desk! All I wanted to do was to bring my sister and a friend of hers who is 12. After taking his picture that she rudely asked for, she looked to my face and said people under 18 can t go in. I literally took my sister there who is 15 in there?? She was so rude asking all the questions and ended up saying they can t enter because they changed the policy and some employees must not have known. I can not believe how rude she was

The YMCA is supposed to be a place for young people to go when they have some free time to be active and chill out with friends. Unfortunately the gymnasium, the primary attraction for a young adult male, is almost always being used for programs that could very easily be held in other rooms or areas. Throughout the day there are only a select few hours when even a single court is open for basketball while events like pickle ball have one to two full courts reserved for 6 hours a day.

At the absurd price of admission of this place I would expect there to at least always be a gym open to play hoops on, because otherwise all that s left to offer for someone like me is the weight room which I can spend half the money on at another place.

I agree the place is pricey compared to other gyms and the staff could be friendlier but I use the facility enough days out of the month and jump from weight room to the pool, to doing activities on the courts, that it makes it well worth paying more.

Personally I never understood paying for gym memberships anywhere. The money you pay, in a year you could afford a machine or equipment to put in your house (key being, if you have the space). This YMCA is amazing because it offers variety of options.

like others have noted, there can sometimes be scheduling conflicts that might inconvenience you if you are only available to go during those times, but otherwise my experience has been great there and the staff are very friendly and helpful. there are loads of activities to become involved in.

The YMCA Pre-School is an utter joke. If I could give it 0 stars I would, but to be able to write a review they force you to pick 1 star. There is absolutely no communication from the top to the bottom. When you think of a teacher that is going to be working with 5 year old's and under, you would definitely think of someone that appears to enjoy their job with a lot of energy (If that is what you are looking for this is definitely not the place for you). We were also told that they were creating their own rules (because they were allowed to do that) and because of that our son was no longer allowed to go to the pre-school because we wouldn't comply with their "made up" requirements. It is a shame that "values" that they stand for , don't meet the quality of presentation!

Wonderful place for young & old & in between, to get yourself together, and take charge of your life. Join a Y near you, or come visit this Y. You will be impressed. Happy up beat people surround you here, you cant help being inspired.

The lifting equipment is so out of date, the barbells are the same since the place open up over 10 years ago. Every time they buy new equipment it s always the cheapest they can find. The only positive to the facility is the sauna

Loved this place until it replaced one basketball courts with a gym. Ever since that I could never have consistent basketball training. Some days there is not even a court open. It is ridiculous that the Y does not at least always have one court court open.

I have nothing positive to say about this establishment. I am not even a member, but the half dozen times I've tried to sign up for classes and inquire about programs, I have ran into problems. The people working the front desk are, in general, unfriendly and if you ask them specific questions about classes, they almost always direct you to call someone's voice mail. This would not be a problem if the people actually called you back. I have called four different voice mails on four different occasions and not gotten any phone responses. One time I e mailed someone a question about a class and got an e mail a month later, with a lousy "sorry for the delay," response. A month later, in my opinion, is more than "a delay." Recently I called on the day a class opened to ask a question, hoping to register later that day, and did not hear back. When I called back three days later I was told a)the person wrote down the wrong phone number to call me back and b)the class filled up the first day it opened, which was the day I originally called. Again, the overall unfriendly staff and lack of seeming to care has turned me off from this place completely. I have never posted a bad review on any company or establishment before, but I felt the need to do so on this. I'm sure their classes could be fine, but I wouldn't know since I can't get a hold of someone to sign up for anything!

I am surprised that people pay 60 dollars for this gym. It was originally 50 dollars a month (which is still way overpriced) but they added some equipment that not everyone uses (monkey bars, punching bag etc.) and they use that as a way to scam people to pay more. The equipment that they have is average to mediocre (especially the leg press) and staff hardly takes care of the gym during the day as there is often weights all over the place. It is kind of mindblowing that the beaver valley ymca is half the price of this one and it has a much better staff and better equipment. Id highly suggest not paying the obsurd price for this gym, especially due to the fact that gyms half the price of this one offer a much better experience. Don't get scammed. Also the people working the front desk are not very welcoming and not friendly to people with questions

You can t ever do anything because they have a bunch of stupid programs that take up everything and there were 6 kids on half a court and people were playing on the other half and got kicked off and yelled at way too overly priced for it s worth that s for sure

EDIT: Leg machine is STILL broken, taking off another star....
I have been going to this Y since it opened it's definitely kind of fallen apart more the past few years. For example, one of the clocks along the track has been broken for a while, plaster in the warm water pool in worn out, heat/AC in part of gym does not work, the fitness machines are worn out. In fact, one of the leg machines has been broken for almost 2 weeks. You'd think that being a paid gym, they'd have it repaired within a day or two. I asked and no one knew what was happening with it.
They have a suggestions box, and they used to post them with comments, but not anymore. Some of the staff are friendly, some are rude, it just depends.
Probably the dumbest thing they did was "converting" part of the gym into the fitness center. They should have just added onto the building if they really needed more space. Wish they had an outdoor walking trail too around the building.
It's still nice that they offer so many different things here though (lots of classes, child care, basketball, aquatic center, etc.), which is really one area they really beat the other gyms in the area.

I politely asked the lady with dark hair at the front desk to sign my papers for gym class. She looked right at me, but continued to do whatever she was working on and ignored me. I was the only member at the front desk, so this should not have been a problem. Luckily her coworkers overheard me and stepped right in to help me. Most of the staff are very friendly and helpful so I was disappointed in this.

Having recently relocated here after being a Y member for 15 years including the excellent Charlotte NC network, and upscale Philly burb facilities, I must mention that this particular Y is nicely designed, very clean, excellent staff, and overall is right up there with the best of them. That's also a positive since there is not another YMCA nearby.
