I ordered the lunch special, chicken with roasted peppers and basil in garlic sauce. It comes with a salad and pasta. I asked for meat sauce on the pasta which I was willing to pay extra for. The lunch portion chicken was small & chewy and they charged me $3.95 extra for the meat sauce. Not happy!

They have the Best Italian food . I have been to a lot of Italian Restaurants but their Restaurant has by far the REAL Italian food. They don't overdo it with Garlic or heavy spices to try to give it flavor. All their food is cooked the way REAL Italian food should be cooked. No matter what you order there you will not be disappointed. The portions are great. Everything is so fresh and the prices are good too. You don't need a second mortgage on your home to go out and have a great meal when you go there.
My husband and I went in for a late lunch. Food was not great, owner or manager was at the bar, a real loud mouth...the atmosphere was not inviting, and the food was honestly not all that good or what I ( and I am Italian) would consider to be authentic Italian. Would not go back back and would not recommend.
This is my favorite restaurant in town! Delicious food, cozy atmosphere, and generous portions....what's not to love! Just a really nice and quaint family restaurant!
I have not been there in years, the food was outstanding from the appetizer all the way to the tiramisu dessert. The waitress and staff were extremely sweet and efficient. I would consider going back again. The only issue I had was that it was cold in there, the waitress turned the heat up and all was well afterwards.
They were very unorganized, we called 2 days ahead of time for approx. 15 people for a repass. The food came out in dribs & drabs, they didn't know what they were serving, people got the wrong dishes. They wanted them to just switch plates, after they had taken a few bites of it !!! Very small servings for the price. The food was good once we got the correct dish. Servers SUCKED !!!
I visit this lovely spot quite often! This is the best place to pass a nice evening. I visit this place frequently. The food is great, the staff members are courteous and the charge is reasonable. I enjoy eating in this spot over a good dinner.
The food is amazing. Servers are really nice... only giving 4 stars because any time I call to place an order or ask about a reservation and older man answers, he s rude, he s short and he can never hear me. I speak up but he won t go to a quieter area. I can hear the TVs and the people chattering loudly in the back ground. He doesn t have to be insulting because the TVs are so loud.
Small place and small parking lot but really good Italian food. I ate eggplant Parmesan and the eggplant was thin and perfect and the pasta was good as well. My wife ordered the chicken Diane which she loved because they made it very lemony just how she likes it. Another plus is all the stained glass in the dining area. I would recommend Ron's to anyone looking for good Italian food
The food is amazing - fresh and cooked to order, and you cannot beat the price for the amount and quality of the food you get. The service is amazing from the second you walk in the door, and the staff makes sure that you are happy with everything you order. The atmosphere is relaxing and cozy. If you have never been here, you need to try it! The BEST pizza in the area (I swear), the chicken francese is out of this world, and I have never had a better burger than I have had here! The food is so good that people come from all over New Jersey to eat here. People who have moved far away and come back for visits make sure to come back and eat here. The ONLY complaint I have ever heard about Ron's is the parking. So many restaurants in the area have parking issues, but the people who park in the train station, on the side street or ShopRite parking lot and walk to the restaurant know that it is worth the extra time. Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights get extra busy, so it is recommended that you make a reservation. I PROMISE that once you go to Ron's, you will be back again and again!!!
Normally we eat inside but because of covid-19 and things just opening up again we are outside. They have a nice little area outside for outdoor dining. although it is in the parking lot area and not optimal it really was nice and well done. There were several small tables underneath canopies. Social distancing was well observed as well as PPE. The food was great as always. My husband had the chicken parmesan and I had the tilapia. As it was our first outing since the lockdown we only stayed for a bit and had a small meal. This place is a staple in the community and is always on point. the wait staff was wonderful as usual. This restaurant will always be a go-to.
This is the 1st time that I did not enjoy the meal I had at Ron's Landmark. The 1st problem was when the pasta fagioli arrived it was not hot. The server took it back and it was only warm when she delivered it the 2nd time. Both my friend and I ordered shrimp scampi. She commented that hers barely had any taste but mine had none at all. My only thought is that because we went there right after it opened the food was not really ready to be served and that's why it was not enjoyable. Considering I have always loved the food here I guess I just won't ever go back early in the day.
My husband and I frequent this cozy, beautiful restaurant. One night,we didn't realize how late it was. They were about to close but the sweet waitress who knows us,served us anyway, it made our night!!Love this place
One of the best veal parmagiana I have had in a long time. Incredible ricotta cake and the best espresso I have ever had!! Not bitter. So smooth. A great value and certainly worth the trip.
My dad used to take me to Ron's when I was a kid now I take my kids. Dinners are always on point! Share a dish of macaroni to accompany the pie, that's the way we roll.
Food and pricing was pretty good. Service was relaxed and unhurried. A little tough getting out of the parking lot. Homey atmosphere inside. The bar area was packed!
Great place to go if you like not getting the dirty plates removed from in front of you when you're done eating. And not getting any refills for your drinks when they are empty. The waitress runs around to the same tables while ignoring the tables that have been waiting the longest. After hearing such great reviews the service needs serious improvements. Shouldn't have the appetizer arrive with the entry big turnoff. Not coming back
Truly enjoyed this experience. Laid-back, comfortable atmosphere with a small cozy bar area separate from the dining area. Service was very attentive and the food was great. Several traditional Italian dishes with some unique dishes I had never seen, one of which I took a chance upon and was not let down...Saltimbocca chicken, a Marsala derivative that has inspired some tweaks to my own recipes. Everything went well together, and the aioli...so fresh, as was the bread. I was in this area all week for business. My hometown in Texas has a significant establishment of Italian, Cajun and Hispanic (predominantly Mexican) culture, therefore our dining choices have an infusion of these flavors. Ron's Landmark was a return to tradition, but unique no less
I gave them a weeks notice that we were going to have a party of 16. I even called the day before to firm up the headcount and confirm the reservation. On the day of the party we waited over 2 hours for our food because there was only one chef in the kitchen. Several other customers walked out because of the wait. When the food finally came out it was mediocre. Some dishes were overcooked and others were just warm. The servers were fantastic. They were very accommodating and apologetic about the wait. I probably won't be back to this place again. If it weren't for the great service from the wait staff I would have given one star.
I dine in this lovely place often! This is my favorite restaurant to have a bite. I go there at least once a month. The meals are very tasty, the staff members are welcoming and the price is good. I like eating in this restaurant for a good lunch.
The food was delicious and plentiful. The prices are very good. The service was excellent. My wife loved it also. This will become a regular stop for our Friday evening dinner.
The place is totally run-down looking and is in desperate need of a decor revamp, but I can't complain as I haven't had Chicken Francaise that good in a long time.
Dark, damp and cold. Service was great, food delivered quite quickly, but the food just wasn't that great. Therefore, the only reason for the 2 stars was for service.
Very very cold inside. I did ask the waitress why is it so cold in here she said because its a building.."Put some heat on" ......Looking around the room all the other customers had all their coats on.. Now do you enjoy your evening with your coats on? If I wanted to wear my coat while I'm eating I would of went camping.....
Must have been at least 15 years between my last visit. Parking here can be a challenge, not many spots available. The place definitely looks dated and it shows that it has been there for a while, so you would assume the food would be great. Arrived early to get a quick meal, so there was only one other customer in the main dining room. The server was pleasant and provided great service. Kept it simple with Spagetti and Meatballs, but requested that the pasta be cooked Al Dente, which was denied by the chef. First time in an Italian Restaurant not being able to get Al Dente pasta. The Pasta came out over cooked and the sauce was really watery. The meatballs were average at best. Very small serving as well. Really was not a good meal. The server saved the day with great service, and was the reason for the 2 stars, would give 2.5.
I come to this superb place every couple of days as I enjoy the special air that is exist in this restaurant. The staff is exceptionally attentive and well trained. The service is very fast. Also, the food they cook is exceptionaly good. I came many times and I was never disappointed. The expense is decent. I suggest this place to my friends and family.
Bartender was extraordinarily rude. I still own a home in Stanhope but spend most of my time traveling so am not always in the area. I used to enjoy stopping in but will not do so again simply because of the lack of courtesy; I didn't even order dinner. I had 1 drink, saw some football scores & left disappointed.
The food is delicious and you really get the most bang for your buck! The portions are very generous and the prices are great! This family owned restaurant is the perfect place for your family dinner or your next date! I've been coming here my entire life and I can honestly say no other Italian place has ever matched up! I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone to come through town! Dine at Ron's and you won't regret it!
The staff tries its best to make sure your selections from their full menu are prepared the way you want them. Not fancy but eating there once will assure a return visit. Parking is limited, but you can park at the train station across the the street.
I was looking forward to going here especially a mom and pops Italian spot what's not to like right? Well boy was I wrong !! First sign 10 minutes to even seated or acknowledged ! this place was not authentic Italian. olive oil which was (water & oil )mix and supposed Italian bread (shoprite rolls) should have ran at first sight of that !! So I gave it a chance and decided to order dinner. Soggy microwave breaded shrimp w pasta that had no flavor whatsoever asked for sauce or something for pasta well they literally poured sauce over everything and sogged up the shrimp even more!! Complete joke never again! Have no clue how they have great ratings b.s.!
