Fantastic room in the tiplady part of the hotel. The bed and pillows were supremely comfortable making a great nights sleep. The function we attended was very well organised with food and service being exceptional. Service was good with tables being served together rather than by food choices. The standard of food at large event is often compromised but food was well presented and hot. Breakfast next morning did not disappoint either. A great selection of fruit and continental meats along with more traditional choices. Definately worth another visit.

One of our favourite places to stay, the spa is heaven and not just a pool and hot tub and you can take your time, youre not limited to 2 to 3 hours and there's plenty of loungers. we usually eat in the brasserie, we've tried numerous things off the menu and they have all been nice, staff are great and friendly and we've stopped in different rooms each time we've stayed and they've all been nice and spacious with comfortable beds, the only let down this time was the ham on the eggs Benedict but a very minor detail considering.

I took my sister here today for her 20 birthday, everything was amazing form the moment we pulled up in the car, us as a family love this place, and occasionally come as a treat. We were a little disappointed to find that 2 facilities were shut due to refurbishments, however once we mentioned it to the lovely lady on the front desk, they made sure that our day wasn t spoiled by this, and in fact made it a better day then we could have hoped for. We will definitely be returning, and would recommend this place to anyone :)

5 Star? But still a canny early Christmas present. Spar facilities excellent, rooms (Tiplady Lodge) also very good, brasserie restaurant good variety and not overly expensive, breakfast in the orangerie also not too shabby, overall a very very pleasant experience.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff goes above and beyond to make your stay special. There is a state of the art fitness centre and view of the golf course from the dining room is spectacular.
I was slightly disappointed with the Armstrong apartment. The shower was non comfortable... you really need to squeeze to get in there. The mattress in the bedroom was also uncomfortable, it seemed to me that some of the springs were actually broken.

Fantastic place. We went to a wedding and the venue was perfect just like the wedding. We were looked after and the service was superb. I must give particular mention to Munga who looked after us alll day and the next morning at breakfast. A polite man with a lovely smile. He made the day even better.

My friends and I visited Rockliffe to celebrate a significant birthday. The lady in question is diabetic and as stated in their policy ' inform us of any special dietary requirements' this I did and tea was agreed upon at the time of booking. On the day no 'special' tea was presented, when I tried to sort this out all they could offer were more sandwiches and two more scones. We accepted this as we didn't want to spoil the afternoon for our friend I did however send an email to the hotel informing them of our disappointment. The reply I got offered an apology but also stated that they do not offer a diabetic tea selection. My query is do other people with dietary requirements e.g. celiacs, glutton free, nut allergies have the same disappointing experience. As a 5 star hotel surely the chefs are trained with this knowledge and could provide the type of tea that is required by the clientele, many cafes and restaurants that do not profess to be 5 star are able to do this. There has been no gestures of good will other than they will give the staff training. I have also sent an email to the manager for his views on this matter but as yet have not had a reply. Very disappointing and expensive sandwich and scones.

You can turn up here in a million pound car, but they will treat you like anyone else. If you are looking for a premium experience, go somewhere else. The old hall manager loves his job but not his customers or the revenue they provide to pay his wages . 3 star at best .

So beautiful. What a hotel and an experience. The staff are so lovely and going at this time as well I felt so at ease. We were welcomed and stayed in one of the new hall suites. It was STUNNING. The food was beautiful and the spa was one of a kind. The spa treatments were also so well done. I can't wait to come back. (Even more excited for my wedding here next year! )

We had a half-day at the spa with lunch at the brasserie. The facilities were lovely, as usual. There is a great choice of pools/rooms/hot tubs to choose from, and everything was clean and well-kept. Unfortunately the service was poor. Lunch service was very slow, and we had to wait until our main course for our drinks, with no apology forthcoming. I had to leave the spa experience early to deal with a family emergency, and called to ask if they could delay lunch slightly. I was told they would not delay our sitting, and that my lunch would be cold when I got to it. Fortunately my husband spoke to someone in the brasserie who very kindly agreed to wait until I got back just a few minutes late. The service was so disappointing that we are reluctant to return. And there was a strong taste of smoky bacon in one spoonful of my otherwise delicious chocolate mousse (didn't get an apology for that either).

My wife and I recently stayed for 3 nights in the 2 bedroom Armstrong Suite. We have been frequenting Rockliffe Hall 2/3 times a year for the past 6 years; during this time we can see that it has declined in many areas, including dining, customer service, staff, cleanliness and general up keep of rooms and furnishings. We believe that the standards of a 5 star hotel you expect , are not there anymore as they once were.

We was on this latest visit, very disappointed, and here s why ...

Checking in was usual, collected the room cards and headed to the 2 bedroom Armstrong Apartment. As we have been many times before we did not need escorting there by the concierge which was kindly offered.

We found the apartment to be tired, dusty and not particularly clean. The bath/shower silicone sealant had black mould on parts of it and was far from clean or hygienic.
The Kitchen floor tiling was cracked in places and had large areas of grout missing between the tiles. The kitchen sink Tap was loose and wobbling around when in use.
All of the furnishings in the apartment are very tired; the sofas bottom out as they are well past usable and comfortable. The TV in the lounge area would not turn up and therefore could not be heard, it was reported but knowbody came to fix it.
The Hallway wooden floor is covered in thousands of heal marks and looks tatty.

Breakfast dining is somewhat limited now and can only be ordered from the kitchen; gone are the days of fresh fruit , croissants, fresh yogurt, breads, meats , etc ... from the central continental style buffet table. If you enjoy, eggs , fish , and toast your laughing! When my wife asked the waiter if they have cereals , the waiters response was yes, then he walked off and served other customers with coffee ? He never informed her of which cereals or that he could go and get her some , just left in the lurch ... very poor service indeed !

The Brasserie dining experience was poor , we ordered 2 steaks for our main medium to well. When they came you could not even see them on the plate as they were covered by a mushroom ? The steaks were ridiculously tiny ! Frazzled and tuff , the quality of the steak was terrible, like and old rubber sole. Words fail me for a five star hotel !

To top it off the last night of our 3 night stay the fire alarm malfunctioned at 00:30am and scared the living daylights out of my wife and I, whom had been asleep in bed since 10:30pm ! 20 minutes later it was switched off and reset. We found it hard to settle after this, let alone get back to a decent nights sleep.

Upon checkout we informed them of our poor nights sleep due to the alarm going off. The response was it s just one of those things and cannot be helped !!! We will ensure it doesn t happen again , sorry for any inconvenience !

There has obviously been some serious problems and serious cut backs at Rockliffe Hall, at best it should be a four star hotel as it certainly is not worthy of five stars anymore. We won t be rushing back in a hurry if at all , there s far better 5 star hotels that are much more deserving than Rockliffe Hall .

We have stayed at Rockcliffe Hall on a number of occasions, it is a wonderful resort, where you are made to feel special. We stayed in one of the spacious and luxurious apartments so we can take our dog, the beautiful grounds are excellent for walking him. The restaurants serve delicious food, and all staff are attentive and helpful, we ate lunch at the brasserie and evening meal at the Clubhouse, the food was absolutely delicous. We were lucky enough to experience the tasting menu in the Orangery, the food is totally exquisite and accompanied with first class wine, a real culinary delight. The whole place is spotless, the decor is tasteful and all staff friendly, professional, approachable and helpful.
The Spa and infinity pool are stunning, it is easy to relax, unwind in luxury and experience the variety of options of pools and saunas. There are so many treatments available that it is easy to find one to suit your taste, the staff are helpful and knowledgeable in advising you. We will definitley be visiting again soon.

Excellent day at the spa, let down by not being told the steam room was out of action. Excellent facilities as always, staff attentive, excellent lunchtime meal in the brasserie. New outdoor hot tub excellent.
