Riverwood Center Review

My grandmother is currently staying there. After her first week of being there all of her clothes and personal belongings went missing after they changed her room. Things such as pictures and other non replaceable items have not been seen since. We were told that they searched the facility and they have no idea what happened to them. I do not feel my grandmother is getting adequate care. She is always hungry and thirsty when we get there as if she has not eaten in days. Since being there she is constantly in a wheel chair and is unable to use her hands like she once could. She can no longer hold a cup or get food to her mouth. This may be the reason why she is so hungry and thirsty all the time and I wonder if anyone is helping to feed her. We are currently working on getting her moved to another facility. It's hard enough to make the decision to put a loved one in a home and Riverwood makes that decision 10 times harder because of the care she receives (or doesn't receive). Please consider all your other options before sending your loved one here.

Poor experience, social services lady has a horrible attitude. Our loved ones phone went missing and was turned off within moments of her passing. The social services administrator was charged to help us locate it and she looked at us sideways and called us rude for refusing to leave until it was found as we needed to contact distant friends of the deceased.

KEEP YOUR LOVED ONES AWAY!!! STAFF IS HORRIBLE! My mother fell 3xs and required brain surgery. They are the absoult worst!!! STAY AWAY!!!!!

I think a lot of the people who write these ratings are people who expect perfection, I've witness other families come inside this facility so demanding and disrespectful to the aides and the nurses. The aides and staff there are wonderful, very eager to see that my mother needs are met. Even the times where I had an issue, they took care of it. Its all in how you approach people, I would never want to stress the aide out who is caring for my mother. I may tell her/him things that I expect, but I would never make them feel unappreciated like most of the family member I see. They are the ones who work closely to the patients, and for that I'm always appreciative. The staff is very friendly, outgoing, loving, fun, and gentle. The residents seem very happy and comfortable and thats all that matters. I gave it 4 stars for the cleanness of the facility and the staff, but -1 star for the food, I believe the food could be better, provide more choices to chose from. But all in all its a great place.

They are negligent at a lethal level. Save a life and stay away!

Just curious as to why only the positive 5 star ratings are addressed and not the negative ratings.

This place is horrible . They are rude, leave people with poopy diapers . My grandpa is worse becuase they dont give him the meds he needs. If i could rate a 0, I would. Also all his personal things went missing and they couldnt find them.

The worst. No one calls you back. The staff is neglectful. Complaints do not get addressed or fixed. Keep your loved ones out of this house of terrors.

Mom has been there for 2 years now. She has been treated with compassion and caring by all the staff. Mom says the food is good and she is able to have them make it in ways she can handle it better being sight impaired. Until March, I would go there most days but with the pandemic, no visitation is allowed. Riverwood has been very successful in keeping most of the virus cases either contained or avoided by their training and diligence. Many thanks to all of them during this stressful time for all. 4 stars only because the physical building is old and the rooms are particularly small.

DO NOT SEND LOVED ONE'S HERE!!!! I have witnessed employees walking around on their cell phone when there are lights going off and residents screaming in there room for help and staff still standing around. I have seen a cna perform wound care on my grandmother and the nurse just sitting down behind the desk. its very disappointing to see and sad because we put her here to be taken care of not neglected . i will never recommend this place and we are taking my grandmother out of there!!

Checked my dad in last week around 8:30 pm, after long travel day from another state. He has been in some horrible places prior to this. EVERYONE from admissions process, to aides, nurses, rec therapist, asst administrator, social work, etc. has been enthusiastic, welcoming and over-the top providing of extra service. Can't wait to see what each visit reveals. No wonder they have won so many awards!!

This place always smells like urine. Don't cry for help because no one will come to your aide or even check if you're okay. Don't send your loved ones here.
