Rideau Carleton Raceway Review

Unfortunately very disapointing in my opinion! First of all their prices have gone up for the same buffet. And 2nd, the line ups are just crazy for whatever you want to eat. Then by the time you get everything you wanted, your food is cold! I was not impress with the food I paid for...all to say very disappointing! :(

Daily meal deals. Great buffet breakfast and lunch. Worth the effort. Casino very well maintained but on a smaller scale compared to other casinos. Lots of free parking and easy access.

Great buffet usually makes the drive out to it worth while. Mostly a slot casino all electronic, not my cup of tea

Lively and a happenin spot, with great live entertainment. Bright and spacious but needs a lounge for non-gamblers to watch big screen sports though.

Good food and atmosphere. I've been there three times and have no complaints yet.

The outdoor entertainment over the summer was amazing.

Great things in the near future for this facility. Have already seen the improvements.
They generously host the Capital Fair annually.

Does a great smorg on a Sunday morning.
If you visit at the right time you might see the ponies out for their Sunday morning exercise; guess we were mabe a little late; only one salki and pony to be seen out on the snowy track; the smorg however, was excellent and well worth the visit!

With the ongoing renovations and opening of table games I no longer enjoy the experience. Slot players are crammed together like sardines, many popular slot games have been shut down, the music is blaring so loud that earplugs are needed. Very unfortunate. Core fan base is being neglected in favour of younger and much rowdier table players.

Lots of fun. Large. Clean. Lots of variety of games. Lots of new games I haven't seen elsewhere. Part of the group, so we could use our players card. Definitely go back when we are in the area.

Omg, I've been going to this Casino for many many years with my husband and with friends and we are so well received it's incredible of the courtesy the professionalism that these people have there. It is a very clean place I have fun playing, you win and you lose some.

The Dinning Room when you get there at 5h at the opening time on Saturday night you make one line and then, usully the Manager will come around for a second line for those that have reservations, so it's amazing. The food is so well presented and is very fresh and good, but the desserts have changed for the worst and the price went up considerably much more than it was it is now 31.95$. So I hope they will put pies like they had, chocolat mousse, cakes, lets wait...Thank you so much for listening guys...love you!

This is not bad place from flea market perspective. It could be better organized but no one willing to invest at this type of business.

I've only been here once and had a great experience. We ate at the buffet (food was OK), watched some horse racing and then played at the casino. It's a great place to spend an evening.

This place is a big ripoff !!. You cannot sit in front of a slot machine and get any kind of decent play for the money spent. I walked around and saw no one winning anything. I witnessed people young & old putting all their hard earned after tax dollars and receiving absolutely nothing in return.
I mentioned this to a manager on site and he said "oh, that's to bad". They have an advertising slogan saying "We bet You'll have a good time". I definitely did not have a good time, in any way. STAY AWAY FROM THIS OR ANY LOCAL CASINOS IN THE OTTAWA GATINEAU AREA. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ON A VACATION OR SAVE IT FOR A RAINY DAY. & IF YOU WANT TO GO TA CASINO, GO TO LAS VEGAS, AT LEAST YOU WILL SEE SOMETHING SPECTACULAR AND IF YOU LOOSE, WHICH MOST LIKELY YOU WILL YOU WON'T FEE; RIPPED OFF..

The place is really run down and the security are absolutely awful and extremely rude.

Didn't win but it was fun. They could use more variety of quarter machines..max 3.

The buffet is an amazing deal at $13.99 per person. (Drink not included, though. And soft drinks are not refillable.)

When they put in the Hard Rock Casino hopefully they make it bigger more roomy

I love the buffets and the atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant.

Atmosphere is okay... I prefer lac Leamy, where it feels like a real casino. Staff is hit and miss.

Had one of the specials for lunch today, ham and swiss cheese sandwich with fries or salad. Fries were delicious as always, the rye bread was so dry I abandoned eating it, staff were friendly but I think overworked.

Great place to enjoy a good buffet...highly recommended. Had a chance to go in pace car on my bday last year with my partner during a horse race...that was a huge thrill moment.

Good casino but the dance bar is too bright and not much of a dance floor , but lots of fun anyway

It s nice and slowly getting nicer but really the hard rock casino upgrade will be the game changer! So much potential.

Service was the worst we have ever received at the buffet. Our servicer Ally L., was terrible. Honestly, all she had to do was bring us beverages and collect our money. Well she had no problem rushing to collect our money, but serving our beverages was a different story. We were the only table in her section when we sat down, but we waited and waited for her to take our order. I ordered a drink which was not to my liking and when I ordered another, she finally shows up 15 minutes later. I ordered a coffee and after waiting 20 after I finished my dessert I just gave up. We asked for the bill and she rushed right away to get our bill and collect. I told her I was not pleased with the service and that I never did receive my coffee. Guess what shows up while we are putting on our coats....my coffee.

As an update to my previous review, live bands did come back but too much country music for my taste. The name is hard rock! Get some hard rock or at least rock bands please.

As per the staff, still rude and unfriendly. My wife swore never to go back due to the rudeness. And, what's the point of separating the legends with the lower tiered folks if the staff is not going to follow or even enforce the rules (whatever they may be)? Just have 2 separate lines and people can decide which one to go on.

The promotions are unclear and most require gaining points. However, the machine doesn't show how much points you have or need. Or how long it'll take to gain points. Most require being there all day. Fine for retired folks but what about us people who works? I'm tired of having to ask the unfriendly and rude clerks about the promotions. They really make me feel unwelcome. In fact, last time I went, I walked out after having another bad experience with a rude clerk. That's fine. Went straight to lac leamy and had a great time.

It seems the slots are paying off less often. I overheard many people comment this. I noticed it myself. I used to play for hours on $100 but is lucky if it lasts an hour nowadays. Not a lot of value for my entertainment bucks. But, that's probably a luck thing.

The only positive I can say is the store. The African Canadian guy is very friendly. Also, I can use my comp on items. But, that's not enough reason for me to keep going on a regular basis.

Over all, this is a bad reflection on the hard rock brand. Lots of change still needed.

Layout is awkward, table variety is lacking and the staff were completely lifeless. The slot machines were okay. Didn t even bother playing. I suppose I ve been spoiled by the competitor across the River.

Food is great. Horse racing slots. You could spend a whole day there

You should let people win on fridays don,t set up the machine to win all the time people will be fed up and quit play if always loose money.

Fun. A whole heap of fun.

Went with a group of coworkers for a surprise birthday party. The staff was very good in accommodating the large group, they let us put the cake in the kitchen fridge until we were ready. They even offered us a few candles which we didn t even remember to bring. The buffet was very good and plenty of selection.

Small, clean and friendly. There's everything you need at this place accept tables.

Conveniently nicknamed "The NO win Casino"



Also, they have nothing but "never heard of" slots...No IGT slots like cleopatra but instead they opted for the rip-off companies like Konami, Aristocrat and Azure Innovator(read all the negative reviews online) as well as the documented odds rigging of Konami slots...

Food is par for the price however definitely not the quality that one should expect from a gaming house. Restaurant is not open 24/7

No 24hour valet.

All and all OLG is definitely going about casinos the WRONG way. Visitors drop millions of dollars, you would think the food would be better and services would be "tip top".. instead, expect the feeling of being cheated and left wanting more...

Don't go, just takes your money and gives absolutely nothing

We had the buffet. It was wonderful. They almost doubled the price in the restaurant so we won't be able to go as often as we did. Sad about that. I had a good night at the casino though.

the buffet sucked. staff weren t friendly or helpful. management sucks. I haven t talked to one person in Human Resources except a handful that are any help whatsoever. hard rock ruined this place.

This place is a bit run down. They ran out of beer fairly quickly and the washrooms were not great. Also there are a lot of mosquitos so dress appropriately

Bright clean, good good large selection of things. I am not a gambler but do appreciate the food.

The buffet used to be good and so was the service, after they raised the prices the quality went down and the service from the waitress was terrible, she was chatting with her co-workers not giving any attention to the tables, went for dessert came back just to notice that they cleaned up the table as if we were gone already, not going back for sure, we used to be regulars.

If your are there for a group function and have been issued drink tickets, be aware they are only valid in the restaurant. The bartender in the games room very rudely tossed a voucher back at me when I offered it to him.

Very nice and fun place to go the employees are great . They make you feel welcomed and will accomidate you in anyway they can. Also very clean over all a great experiance.

Good environment for gambling and service but 3 stars cuz its hard to get around without signs if you don't know the place. Need to walk all around looking for washrooms bar or ATM's

The seafood buffet on Saturdays no longer serve crab legs. Not much variety but the shrimp is very good.

Had a great time, lots of machines and there was a live band (this was on a Friday)

big rip off- will not pay out for bonus winnings on machine - too stingy on the roast beef at the buffet and a big shake-down at the door for id.

The food, the view, and the establishment were great!! We had alot of fun. My one complaint was the impatience of some of your buffet crew. I noticed 2 of them who seemed annoyed at their circumstances. It's an all you can can eat buffet i get it, but you have to hide your disdain.

Food was good and in a pleasant atmosphere. No races on the night I visited.

Like what they did with the gaming floor. The buffet is brutal. I thought with the Hardrock taking over they would have stepped it up but that is not the case. Service was absolutely horrible. The hostess told the seater to sit us at the south exit even though there were plenty of seats near buffet. Asked the seater to please seat us closer. When she did another hostess tried to move us and we refused. Went to soup bar to find there weren't any soup bowls. Had to ask for a soup bowl and when it finally came there weren't any soup spoons. Asked for soup spoon and was told to ask server so I did. She was embarrassed to tell me they only had tea spoons. Trying to get served at the buffet was a whole new ordeal. Staff too busy chatting it up so decided to serve myself just to hear "wooh wooh wooh you can't do that" at which I replied you guys are too busy chatting it up. The food was 3rd rate and definitely not worth the 31.99. The only person that was pleasant to deal with was our server Ally. Awesome job Ally 5 + stars for you. My wife and I starting going here since they opened and in the beginning it was great. Over the years it has declined super fast so we stopped going. We went back hoping the experience would be better under the management of the Hard Rock group. Unfortunately not.

This place is a nightmare while they rennovate. Nobody knows which entrance is open or closed and even worse if you're bringing under age people to the restaurant.

So glad I almost never visit this place.

Buffet is still very good. However, we find it a wee bit pricey now for what you get. Now the restaurant was renovated last year, but the upgrades were done the cheapest way possible and it seems like the lowest grade of materials were used. With such a hype leading up to the upcoming improvements, my husband and I were very dissapointed when the work was finished.

I wouldn't play here ever again! The slot machines are ratcheted really badly! Really low percentage of payouts. Bad table games! No "let it ride", "Caribbean" or even "high card flush". Don't waste your time at this place!

Unless the Hard Rock casino renovations happen, it's just a barn with gaming machines...
