HORRIBLE!! experience with Richmond American. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up about what a horrible experience my boyfriend and I have had with Richmond American.

We were going to sign on a townhome in the Urban Collection at Cross Creek neighborhood. We had our lot picked out and we made an appointment to go back first thing the next morning to sign for it. But Janet Murray s sales partner sold the lot right out from under us without any notification. And Janet called us an hour before our signing appointment to tell us.

We decided to try again with Richmond (biggest mistake ever) and found a lot for the exact same model townhome in their Urban Collection at East Point up in Commerce City. Damon Dorsey was our sales associate and acted all nice and apologized for the issues we had in Aurora. We signed for a lot with them, put 1% down, and immediately began the loan application process with Richmond s lender. Richelle Cellular with their mortgage team was amazing and great to work with and she began working on our application within a week or so. Fast forward to about three weeks later. Damon calls me at 6pm on a Friday night telling me we need an outside approval letter from a second lender and then recommends a friend of his (can you say conflict of interest?!). Our realtor spoke with him and told him that we would start working on it right away on Monday and he agreed that our contract would be fine over the weekend. Then on Sunday night we received a cancellation notice requiring an electronic signature and per their website our lot was put back on the market over the weekend as well. Several phone calls to corporate later, it was determined that they no longer wanted to honor our contract and they would rather sell our lot to someone else for $31k more. Meanwhile our loan is still being reviewed and underwritten. We haven t even been approved/denied yet and their reasoning for terminating our agreement was due to lack of financing. We told them we had plenty of cash to put down and we both have great credit and steady jobs so there is no reason we would not be approved for a loan. What a joke!

What an overall horrible experience and unnecessary heart ache all because we wanted a nice brand new home for our first house together. Extremely disappointed in you Richmond.

Brought my first time homebuyers to visit the models at Richmond American Homes. We worked with the sales rep Tod C and he was very knowledgeable about the product he represents. My clients were able to purchase the home of their dreams!! Thank you.

Don t buy any homes from them, they will lie and con you out of your money and leave you with a home that won t pass inspection and will leak and crack and leave you miserable. Report them to the attorney general!! This fraud of a company and it s staff needs to be dealt with.

Glad I saw these reviews - I didn't get far in the process but I took a few tours and at least tried to reach out to their affiliate lender as they offered some financial incentives. Never heard back from any of them after a week. Also, how is it that they can offer new homes built without HVAC systems, fireplaces, basically any type of heating or cooling? I can't believe that in 2020 a HVAC system is considered an "upgrade".

TRASH TRASH TRASH company... they pretty much tell you they will give you world before and during the build.... then when it comes time to warranty, they fight you EVERY step of the way. they will try every trick in the book, every con a company can use to not repair issues. I would NEVER use this trash company ever again.

Military families beware!! Highly recommend you FIND ANOTHER BUILDER!! There is a Better Business Bereau advisory for a pattern of complaints, I recommend you read it and also look up reviews on multiple other websites and you'll find more than enough reasons why you should take your money elsewhere. Once we signed the paperwork its like a switch flipped and the company no longer cared about their customer service. We would go weeks without getting a response to emails/phone calls. My family was suppose to PCS and have our home waiting for us when we got to Florida but that hasn't happened yet. The sales office and preferred lender have dropped the ball on paperwork multiple times causing our closing date to change 3 times so far, our original closing date was early August and here we are Mid September and we are living in a hotel because we still do no house due the VP of Sales being so unwilling to work with us on an appraisal issue that is out of our hands. I will never recommend this builder to any of my military friends or anyone for that matter and I'll make sure I keep spreading the word across all review and social media platforms.

I've been trying for weeks leaving multiple messages for Richmond to call me back. We contracted on a home in Parker and put down the requested 3%. It didn't go through and I now have a check I can't cash and no one will return my calls. Soo mad. Very glad this didn't go through if this is how the corporate office handles their issues. Still waiting for a callback after 3 weeks!!!

We bought our dream home with Richmond and it has been a disaster from the start of the building process. We talk to all our neighbors and they agree that if they had a chance to do over they would not build with Richmond ever again. I suggest you look elsewhere if you want to build, if you do decide get a attorney and watch Richmond trades every step of the way. They are not closely monitored by the Superintendents so they just do what they want, bad management by Richmond! For what you pay for these homes its a sad sad way to treat your customers!
Update: here is some examples of how they build these homes. They are tract homes not custom, richmond has no class or pride in the homes they build. They won't stand behind the work even when they do it wrong, they just patch it and say sorry, what a joke!!!

recently during the build everything is starting to go bad. The floors are really bad and their fix is to put a round corner to hide the 1/4" gap. The walls are not straight. The borders are not straight since the walls aren't straight. The paint is so thin you can see brush marks. Put carpet over a cracked concrete and never fixed it. I can keep going but I think you get my point. And the best Richmond will do is respond to this with the same response and the same email as everyone that complains.

I recently had a house built with Richmond American Homes and these are some of issues I've had.

Before moving in.
-Windows in the master bedroom and the sliding doors to the dining room were left open during a rain storm. (This was after my floors and drywall had been installed.) Water was everywhere.
-Shutters were painted the wrong color.
-Dishwasher was installed on the wrong side of the kitchen island. (I agreed to keep as is.)
-Incorrect faucet installed in the kitchen.
-Crown molding in the kitchen was not installed.
-Chip and scuff marks on the quartz counter in the kitchen.
-Large scratch on one of the bedroom windows.
-The closet doors in one of the bedrooms were too long so wouldn't close.
-Multiple windows in the bedrooms/bathroom did not open or close properly.
-Faucet in the Master bathroom was installed crooked.
-One of the bathroom doors would not lock.
-The paint on the walls above the shower in one of the bathrooms was poorly done and look warped.
-Areas not stained well on the stair railing.
-Sharp nails poking through the carpet on almost every stair on the staircase and other areas of the house.
-Trim along the floor that was slanted and uneven throughout house.
-Gaps in the caulk between the trim and the floor throughout the house. (Ants were crawling through the holes.)
-The caulk between the countertops and the trim in the bathroom/kitchen was separated.
-Paint splatters on the floor throughout the house.
-Paint touch ups on multiple walls inside and outside the house.
-A random pipe 2-3 feet high was sticking out of the grass that I was told would be removed.
-Some sprinkler heads were installed on the property line, instead of several inches inside the property line. (Important if wanting to install a fence.)
-Chunk of concrete missing from the column on the front of the house.

When I arrived for my final walk through appointment, I was told that the house was not ready for the walk through because they hadn t finished cleaning. While the house was being cleaned, my realtor, myself, and some friends waited at the model house with a lady named Anna who was going to do the walk through with us. She opened the refrigerator door and took out a bottle of water and asked us if we wanted a bottle. I said that I did. Anna then said that we could get it ourself, closed the refrigerator door, and drank the bottle of water

Once we started the walk through Anna had to leave due to an emergency. My realtor and I continued walking through the house when the Superintendent, Richard Jurczak, came into the house and basically started yelling at us that we were taking too long and he had another appointment to get to. My realtor explained that our appointment had started late and we were not taking long. I also added that there were a lot of mistakes with the house and his response was that the house was not going to be perfect.

After moving in.
-2 faulty breakers that caused outlets to not work.
-Leak in garage ceiling that has caused the paint to peel off and fall to the floor.
-Dirt was poured onto my yard from the construction next to my house. Instead of removing the dirt, grass was placed on top of the dirt so now I have a double layer of grass on one side of my house
-My irrigation system failed inspection by the county because a pipe was broken and flooding.

I have lived in the house for almost 3 months now and many of these issues have still not been fixed.
