Dispatch had trouble getting down the correct address and 15 minutes later no one was here so we had to handle the situation on our own.
Just pulled over to check out an accident that looked fresh where 77N and 277 merge. Despite the destruction and debris there was no units at least behind the accident with lights on to warn oncoming traffic to slow down. Not that they didn't show up but apparently they hauled off the injured and refused to handle any reports and left told the people involved to wait for state highway patrol. And they are so backed up the young couple has been waiting for 2 hours or more now and as you can see some of the people are way to close to the road.
This is just a matter of safety. Why did they drive off? Their jurisdiction or not. If there was an emergency elsewhere I understand but this place is usually pretty peaceful.

I called the sheriff department today expressing my concerns about city of Columbia Police department and I was told that I should call shelters again the same ones that I've called before and that there is no way that they can exhaust any other resources that they may have other than the ones that is free to the public.During this time I am in a state of crisis and I am not getting any help from Columbia police department or Richland county sheriff's department I am highly appalled by this type of an interaction that I'm getting from police that's supposed to keep the city safe the people safe to help with resources that should be offered to the people of Columbia of South Carolina that is not to be an offer to us instead of getting help we're getting door shut in our face saying that dope sorry I can't help you there's nothing else that we can do I am beyond livid !!!!?

Whoever is answering the phones after hours is absolutely completely useless. I called to find out information about the attempted child abduction due to a very similar incident 2 nights prior and I was told by the gentleman answering he doesn t know what I m talking about he doesn t watch the news.... correct me if I m wrong, but shouldn t people working at the sheriffs office know about someone attempting to kidnap a child?
I used to live in Richland and they are the best officers we have!!! Have any of y'all been willing to protect and defend a city, prevent crime in your area, and been able to handle all of it mentally? No? Okay then, DO NOT judge our law enforcement for they are doing the very best that they can to help serve and protect the county. Myrtle Beach, Horry County and North Myrtle Beach PD's system sucks, I have ran across very few officers that are nice and will handle a situation the way they think is fair to the security guards, but I had a case where a male pushed me hard on my chest to the point it literally hurt while I was trying to detain him, and according to North Myrtle Beach Police, I couldn't get him for assult on an officer because I was a "rent a cop"... yep, thats exactly what the police told me... Atleast Richland County cares!!!

I just called because a Sheriff dept k9 unit vehicle was driving at a high speed on Clemson Rd. When he passed me. No lights or sirens, just speeding. If I was doing that I'd be pulled over and ticketed. It seems like they get to break the same law's that they're supposed to enforce... Or is that just for certain groups of people? Additionally I called the sheriff's department and did not get an answer... The phone just disconnected. Smh, how do I report things of this nature if they don't even answer the phone.

Had a wonderful time at the SC State Fair. First time attendee and felt very safe due to tbe presence of the Richland Co Sheriff staff. Went my daughter, son-in-law and three-year-old granddaughter. They had a ton of kiddie rides ! Will be back next year!

Just watching a episode of Live PD where Deputy K. Lawrence pulled over a young man for several traffic violations and a small amount of marijuana. He was scared to death. The way Deputy Lawrence delt with him was incredible. He showed the young man respect and talked to him about changing his life and learning from his mistakes. He is a true Hero and we need more Deputy s and men of the law like Deputy Lawrence. Your department is blessed to have him.

A friend of mine was recently robbed at gunpoint in a small neighborhood and when the police got there they had no information to really go on but his description because it was dark but they have a fully functioning K9 unit to which they advertised on the news often but did not ever deploy in any certain situation so why tell the public you have the tools and the equipment to solve these crimes but not use them when it is necessary when there is little to go on when that would be your Ace in the Hole or final Resort? Really??? If you ever watch The Simpsons I believe those cops would have a better time solving crime in Columbia than any of them
I have been reporting incidents that have been happening around my home to Richland County, I have yet after. three years to get a good answer or a resolution. I am now requesting to complain to. Sheriff Lott. I am very unleaded on the professionalism, from the last Investigator.

I saw how they were called to investigated the brutal and obvious torture of a dog. Very sadistic. The dog was stabbed, and his eye gouged out. The dog was then drug by a vehicle. This department said it was accidental?? WTF? I suppest you check out Justice for Baby Boy. The photo's show this department is not at all honest. People have donated over 3000$ to find the truth. I wonder if the dog belonged to someone in this department or a politician. No living thing should have to suffer like that, and I would thinkthese people have a serial killer in their community.
RCSDis hands down the best at what they do. Lt. Brown, SD Lawrence, SD Mastriani, SD Tapler, heck every deputy Ive encountered has been helpful and attentive. Sheriff Lott wasnt my favorite when I was young but now I only have respect for him. RCSD ROCKS!

I work as a licensed insurance agent with Matt Byars Allstate agency. We had a community wellness, preparedness and awareness event, and without hesitation, there were officers willing to participate. We were thrilled to have them, and they were such a vital part to the success of our event too. We appreciate them greatly and are so glad to have partnered with them to make our community event that much better. THANK YOU RICHLAND COUNTY!!!!! YOU ARE AWESOME!!!

i go in to get my metal scrapping licence. i'm not from the county so the receptionist said i'd have to goto west Columbia's sheriff department you go further.. i tell her i'll be stranded! i'm scrapping this wire so i have money to get gas and go home with. she shoo's me away as it's not her problem. so i made it her problem by asking the whole lobby; " i've never done this before but i'n begging you guys for some money" cause i have no other option at that point. she's not giving me another option. the receptionist instantly jumps up and flags an officer to come escort me out of 'soliciting for money'. tell me who's being protected and served? the people in the lobby didnt mind and were more than happy to help. understnading that everyone falls down now and again. the officers take any thorn in their side and whisp it away without a second glance, as if they're better than most and haven't the provocation to make mistakes. For all their christmas decorations; their christmas spirit is non-exsistent. STAYYYY AWAYY! CALL ANOTHER COUNTY IF YOU HAVE TOO!
I live on my family's property and if you saw it it's not land you just want to come on. It's deep woods. Someone knocked repeatedly at my back door when I had my front porch light one and many other lights in the house on. My husband works swing shifts so I was home alone. I called my grandparents and mom who are my neighbors to see if it was them knocking. It wasn't them so they looked out of their door and saw someone on my back porch. I called the police and thirty minutes later they finally showed up. I'm just glad the person ran away once my family started coming out of the house. I'm glad this person didn't get in my house and you know murder me. When the police officer got there he didn't even check my backyard to see if he could spot the person. He acted like he cared less and that I was making it up. I think police officers are awesome people and so brave but they need some more empathy. They told me to call back if it happened again. What are they going to come 30 minutes later. I hope I'm still alive next time....
Why is the student not being charged for ignoring a legal request? This ignoring her only sends her peers a message to flip you off if they ever ask anything. Didn't appear excessive force was used
I had my car stolen on November 9 2016. The car was recovered but the officers did my have keys . I was not told where they found it. They had it towed to a local paint and body shop.
I had to pay a 160.00 towing charge.i know who did it . And as of right now the case is still open The person who did it lives across the street from me.The police department told me when I saw him to call the police.Well I saw him today

Told him where he was ,his name,clothes he was wearing. Said he couldnt arrest him if there wasn't a warrant out for him. Investigator or the Sgt. Will call me back. This has got to be the worst police department I have ever dealt with.They don't care!

5 stars for Deputy Mark Laureno, because of his outstanding performance as a Law Enforcement officer. Not only does he conduct himself professionally, but he also does it with the interest of the people. He is the most notable officer in my opinion. Honor, courage, respect. These are all characteristics he has and should be the template for all his brothers and sisters. Every time I witness his actions on #livepd , he is always taking charge, showing leadership, while conducting his job with a calm demeanour. I aspire to be just like Deputy Mark Laureno, and he is exactly the kind of deputy I want to be, when the time for me comes God willing.
