Always good - subtle elegance and a great afternoon tea, especially when you get a deal!
We stayed here for our first wedding anniversary and when we got there to check in we were given a free upgrade to one of their suites. We had lunch at their steak restaurant which was delicious. We had booked a package for a spa treatment each, which we both loved. The meal in the evening was amazing 4 courses and all were superb. The grounds of the hotel are lovely for a nice walk or for a drink outside. All in all an amazing stay.
Beautiful venue but extortionate on drinks! Would make so much more if the prices were dropped!
Very modern hotel with seminar and meeting rooms. Unfortunately, afternoon pastries are sometimes only served to order.
Came here for a wedding. Really nice looking place and a very chilled atmosphere. Didn't stay the night, but saw one of the rooms. Seemed quite nice. The decor was great, and it was more than suitable for a wedding. Mostly polite staff too. Expect to pay top dollar for average drinks.
Went to Rhinefield House for afternoon tea. The staff made us feel special and were very attentive to us. An enjoyable afternoon.
HALF A STAR i'll give them actually scratch that ZERO star/stars. Booked this hotel based on some strong recommendations from a few people i work with to book it for my little sister as part of her wedding present. She got married on the Saturday the 26th of November 2016 so booked a one night stay for her and her new husband to stay there. Prior to this, on the Friday which is a day before the wedding i called the hotel to check if everything is fine and all booked etc. All i did was give the lady my first name and she found my booking on the system straight away and confirmed everything for me so all good to go. Fast forward on monday morning when they were checking out from the hotel they were asked to pay for the stay as it has not been paid...i work in an office and i've had my phone going off constantly because my sister is trying to reach me because they are asking them to pay for the stay that i have ALREADY PAID FOR. I then had to go onto my bank account and send her a copy of the transaction to show them that it was pre paid. Now this was meant to be as a present, how awkward is that.I called them to try and find out what they are playing at, spoke to a lady called nicky or vicky didnt catch her name correctly... she was useless, said she'll pass me to the receptionist to hopefully find out what is going on, the receptionist came on the phone after a minute hold on the line so i thought she has been explained to what is going on...she came on the phone and was like "hi how can i help" so i asked if the other lady had explained what i'm calling about, she had no idea so said hold for me and went off...i kept holding for a long time. I received a text from my sister advising its sorted now they have finally found the payment. so i hung up the phone in the end. I've never been so angry about a booking...totally unprofessional completely ruined the experience for me and my sister. that is the last time i book a room at this place...it might change but at the moment how i'm feeling now i'll NEVER recommend it to anyone. Totally useless and very poor customer service.
Beautiful...check wine list before ordering..may need to pay in installments.lol
An absolutely stunning old Manor House converted to a hotel.
It is a very upmarket establishment. The decor is and looks expensive.
Unfortunately I was not staying overnight but look forward to the day that I do.
This hotel is my favourite. The setting and service are second to none. The afternoon tea is just perfect. The rooms are very nice, and the food in the restaurants is extremely good. Always a special place to go.
A great location for a getaway. Surround by beautiful grounds and stunning forests the location is enough to justify the drive. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was particularly excellent. We enjoyed a lovely break and made the most of the spa facilities
Beautiful hotel, great spa facilities, fabulous food and wonderful grounds!
Great place ! Love it ... service, atmosphere, ambience , style ! Nothing is too much asking for them . Will go back anytime
Gorgeous spot lovely hotel. Sausages were amazing at breakfast. Some rooms a little tired.
Staff are very helpfully, lobby internet didn't work, so they showed me a location that I could get Wi-Fi. Conference rooms are nice clean. We all had lunch, there were about 40 of us. The food was nice But the portion was tiny e.g one roast potato
Lovely setting. What it lacks in boutique charm it makes up for in the quality of the surroundings.
Two day stay - outstanding. Four stars as waiter service could be faster and evening meal took nearly 2 hours in total. Everything else from rooms to ambience was fantastic.
Absolutely love it at Rhinefield house. Had our wedding here in Oct 2018 and can't stop going back. Rooms are great, service is fabulous, location is idilic.
A fantastic location ...but on our visit they had major staffing problems!
We stayed here for two nights in the comfortable and spacious Heron Suite. We had a very good view of the forest from the suite. Dinner was very good, breakfast a little disappointing, our boiled eggs were undercooked on the first morning and our table was in a horrible position on the 2nd. Very good bar area although, it being February and St. Valentine's day, it would have benefited from the forest being lit to add atmosphere and warmth, it was rather chilly.
Lovely location ,decor now a bit tired food OK but nothing special, young staff attentive but not very friendly not sure it's worth the money.
Attended niece's wedding. Superb venue , attentive staff , wonderful day
Only comments being disabled asked for room with walk in shower . Two disabled rooms in hotel as far away from restaurants ,bar and reception as possible . Had to have room with shower over bath , not ideal . No one asked anyone disabled before adapting rooms . There was a lift half way. In view of age of building not disabled friendly.
Horrendous place. We stopped to use the Polar charging station for our electric car. The location is flawless, in the heart of the New Forest. But this stately looking building has been corporatised beyond belief. We liked the idea of More
Such a beautiful building, it looks far older than it is. I had a lovely cup of tea in the lounge area. The gardens and pond with fountains looked lovely.
Note to self... Do go again in the spring to see the gardens.
Excellent venue for a conference, very comfortable rooms, outdoor pool that was heated and spa facilities.
Our waiter Phil was absolutely amazing, we said it my birthday and they brought a complimentary cupcake! It's a beautiful place and Phil was incredibly knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend!
Wow what a beautiful location.
Unfortunately it was a humongous let down the "taste of hampshire" was a complete let down.
Everything about this place is wonderful, until you eat in the evening, a massive disappointment. The breakfast is pretty good but on the 3 different stays only once did I get the breakfast I asked for.
Lovely afternoon tea, lots to eat and very tasty staff lovely and all social distancing in place very pretty area
Room was pretty dusty which was disappointing right away. The hotel is utterly incapable of providing for people with small children, they had no microwave (seemingly anywhere in the building) to heat up baby food, the high chairs they provided were absolutely filthy and left tarry black marks all over my hands, they were not able to provide any plastic cups telling me they had none dispite the fact that a sign on the outside swimming pool recommend the use of plastic cups from the bar. The only saving grace for the hotel was the front of house staff who were very helpful and friendly, and the cleaning staff who were polite and friendly. The staff in the restaurant were extremely unresponsive. For the price this hotel is not worth it.
Nice. Beautiful. History intertwines with modernity. Amazing environment. Very nice staff. I'd like to visit again.
Fantastic hidden house in the forest. Dinner was delicious and experience was unique and unforgettable.
Questionable service, very cold indoor swimming pool.
Lovely place to stay and the Armarda Restaurant was delicious. Helpful and polite staff
Such an amazing hotel! Full of character and history
The tables still had half eaten breakfast at midday. Cigarette butts on the patio floor. Overpriced beer.
Nice building, but poor service. Many members of the staff in the bar area seemed reluctant or annoyed when asked to bring the drinks to us. The food is very good, but a bit too expensive
This is a mismanaged hotel and definitely not recommended. If you like pretty buildings and don't care about the stay, then this is the place for you. The staff work all day and, although polite to a fault, have no clue how to observe customers and see to their needs.
The hotel is open to the public and non guest bring their kids in to use the pool and all the guest facilities. I have never seen this before; we wanted to swim in the outdoor pool and there were 6 non guest kids with infatables. It started to rain and the mother who must be a regular said, "come let's use the indoor pool" which is tiny.
Plus the pool closes at 6pm!
There is no system to differentiate guests from drop in so they can wander around at their leisure and use the pool as long as they like.
Next the food. The food was not good, the breakfast tasted funny, the sausages we undercooked and the scrambled eggs were like porridge, disgusting. The burger from the grill was OK. I didntd eat
And finally the service. This was where it all got a little Fawlty Towers. I can't even describe the wild swings from obsequious wine waiter to forgetful waitress, the slightly rude woman running the bar area to the nice welcome to the breakfast area. It's like the place has many personalities.
Having my dad's wedding here and can't wait to go and do it at such a lovely place. Great staff. Great atmosphere. Great food. Always great times had there. Thank you
We ate at The Grill. The food was very good, although the portions were very small. We roasted in the sauna-like conservatory type restaurant. Fork was dirty and waiter's English wasn't the best. Walls also looked dirty. Offered us water, then charged us for it!
We had a lovely afternoon tea here where we were able to book online and it all went smoothly. The problem was where we were seated, every 5 minutes the sound of a pump would go off right next to us for a couple of minutes and it ruined the atmosphere. Good selection of sweet treats though (although not a fan of the marshmallow square thing that had a grim texture) and the scones and cream were really fabulous.
We have just had our daughters wedding at the Rhinefield House hotel and I can't thank the staff enough for there friendliness there help and making sure the day went well. Arranging a table of 20 at the spur of the moment didn't seem to phase them so thankyou very very much. And we would differnatly recommend them to anybody.
Really a four and a half stars. Enjoyed our stay and enjoyed the fine dining experience. We loved the ambiance and oak panelling. We will return.
Everything was perfect and the staff could not do enough for us.
Lovely location and gardens and good quality rooms. The food and drink is overpriced IMO even for country house hotel prices.
Worth to try
I was asleep when my hubby drives me to this place and I never been here before
When I open my eyes it was like a fairytale. The scene is very gorgeous.
There was a wedding when we visited so we were not sure if the restaurant available, but since my baby hungry and need somewhere to eat and warm up her food we decided to stop for the tea time.
It turned out they have grill all day!
It is expensive but if you try once in a while its ok.
The service is ok cos we were the only guest at that time. Despite the wedding.
The building is gorgeous, the view is breath taking.
And the food is also lovely.
This Hotel is set in some very beautiful grounds very peaceful.
Went there for a wedding. It was absolutely stunning. The location, the grounds, the bedrooms, the whole estate. The hospitality and service of the staff was wonderful and the food was delicious and plentiful. I would, without hesitation recommend Rhinefield House . Beautiful! !!!
Lovely grounds, executive room looked right on to forest.
We went to wedding reception and stayed the night, the room was lovely, bright airy, clean and beautiful out look to the forest. The shower was great..however we ordered 2 rounds of ham sandwiches on room service, we waited over an hour for More
Serena environment. Great service and tasty food. A paradise
We spent one evening at this quirky and characterful hotel. The hotel has wonderful grounds and is well situated for visiting the New Forest attractions.
Staff were very friendly; efficient and had a sense of humour. The a la carte menu and the breakfast was very good. The bedrooms were very well presented.
Only slight criticism - receptionist could be more helpful.
Comfortable and calm hotel with well kept garden and grounds.
The building is antique and has historical stories, and the surrounding trails go deep into the forest, which is worth visiting
Such a beautiful place and surrounding grounds. Staff, food, rooms, everything is superb and special. Especially more so for us as it will be our wedding venue in October.
Experience it and fall in love, I guarantee you will!
Breathtaking.
What a gorgeous hotel; architecturally, a really sensitive blend of the old and the new. The room was plush, cosy and well appointed although I never quite got the hang of the heating control! The gardens are beautiful, even in winter. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. Our only complaint was the service at breakfast; staff were polite but every morning our main course was brought whilst we were still eating an earlier course meaning that we either had to abandon what was before us or send the hot food back! And it didn't only happen to us! Basic error but surely simple enough to resolve. Would definitely revisit, though. Perfect stay for exploring the New Forest.
Absolutely beautiful! Afternoon tea and champagne was delightful.
Rhinefield hotel is set in an historic building hidden in the middle of the New Forest. Everything screams old English charm but the food is 1st class and the staff make you feel amazingly welcome. One of our favourite places to visit, be it afternoon tea, dinner or an overnight stay.
My partner and I booked an overnight stay as a little break and a treat in the middle of the otherwise sometimes dull month of January and Rhinefield House delivered! So we'll looked after with out feeling intruded upon the staff we're very attentive and ever so kind - clearly a high end establishment but was made to feel very welcome and relaxed. Everywhere you turn there's something to behold. Great dinner, drinks and breakfast and a lovely spa treatment. The location makes for no disturbing noises and beautiful views to enjoy!
The most wonderful setting for a wedding. Surroundings and staff were faultless. Need i say more.
Great hotel with amazing chefs. SPA options also quite good. Woods and forests round the hotel are breathtaking.
Rhinefield House is a lovely venue for weddings or parties. I have also stayed there for a weekend break and, my steel drum band has performed there for many wedding receptions. You will need to follow your directions carefully when you get closer as it can be tricky to find in the New Forest.
Our wedding at Rhinefield was incredible, the surroundings are stunning and the overall experience is fantastic. I think the hotel misses out on some attention to detail and some poor staff. However I cannot fault the commitment to making our wedding fantastic.
Very nice hotel set in stunning grounds in the New Forest, with friendly, helpful staff. Lovely breakfast with plenty of choice. Only down point was the bedroom was very hot so we put the Aircon on, but it was so noisy and dripped water in the floor.
Beautiful place to stay and relax definitely worth the stay. We come every year and have nothing bad to say. Absolutely stunning gardens.
Perfect food and service in the perfect location if you enjoy being in nature I can't recommend this enough.
Unfortunately despite the good views together with decent weather, I had a totally unpleasant visit to the premise.
After a pleasant 3hr hiking in the Tall Trees Trail, we fancied a good meal to reward ourselves. Rhinefield House Hotel was just around the corner so we went ahead.
We were a group of 6 including two couples, one child and one pomeranian puppy. It is always a habit of us beforing entering any buildings such as resturants, museums or even shops, that one of us head in first and ask if pet is allowed to enter.
And that was exactly what I did. I entered the resturant and ask the waiter who just finished taking an order. I explained that we had a dog, and if we wereallowed to sit in the outdoor areas for lunch. More than half of the time I would be told a no and I will just walk away politely and find somewhere else.
However the waiter (known to be called Angel) welcomed us into the building and said we could sit at one of the outdoor areas. Morever, after 15min wait he came out and took the orders from us.
It was all good and enjoyable until another member of staff shown up, and said we had to leave because dog is not allowed here. At that point it was already 35min since we sat down (yes the views were actually pretty good and we didnt really mind the long wait).
It was surely upsetting. We could have gone to another resturant if we were told the right information 35min ago. I demanded to speak with her manager.
And this is why this review drops to only 1 star. The manager, who told his name is Mark, initially put blame on Angel being too new to the job, but immediately said, ' I would call the place and check before showing up', and ' you didn't enter from the main entrance', basically make the guests at fault for not properly checking but deflecting the fact that his staff provide false information. However, we had done due diligently as far as reasonably possible by asking staff on site and relied on them to give the correct instruction.
Then the conversation had no point to continue when Mark repeated himself multiple time of, 'How can I possibly please you' and ' I cannot put my job at risk'. I saw no intention from Mark trying to provide any solutions but to blaming the guests on poor judgement which clearly isn't the case.
I was only a bit disappointing that I was given misaligned messages by the resturant and we as the guests took the consequense by waiting for 35min without food. But that wouldn't necessarily warrant a 1 star review if not the manager Mark treating us poorly and unprofessionally.
