Restaurant Morel Review

I love sitting In the window and watching older couples who are coming from the south end to try new things and Pamela found this great new restaurant that her friend at the salon on hikes lane told her about. The look of horror on Garrys face as he pauses at the threshold and stares at the word vegan and he silently curses his wife as she looks back at him with hopeful eyes , after enduring 30 years of anniversaries at chillis and always on a Friday because pizza shooters are two for one after 9pm....he finally drags himself in and reluctantly orders the pizza burger because everything else is scary.

The food here is fine, I m not vegan. One thing that bothered me is why make reproductions of non vegan food into vegan food... :)

OMG the food here is amazing. Like, I live in Chicago--which has countless solid veggie options--and I've still yet to find vegan food this good. Way to go Louisville! I had the BBQ seitan sliders - between the tasty sauce and the crunchy little burnt bits, I could have sworn it was meat. Hubs tasted and confirmed that it was not :) but man, if you haven't had pork in 5 years you would've thought the same. Oh and that mac and cheese... damnnnn it's good. Hubs isn't vegan, but is happy to go along for the ride. He had the vegan chikn sandwich and was pleasantly surprised with the texture. We also had the chikn wings and hot dang that smokey ranch was out of this world. I'm p sure I would make the 5 hr trek to Louisville just to eat here again.

It's passed on now to a purgatory in the Logan Street Market- and purgatory hasv done it's deli items well.

Just awesome! Whether you re vegan or not, this vegan cuisine is delicious! We ordered the Kimchee chili cheese fries, buffalo wings, and also the potato salad and buffalo chicken dip to take to a Superbowl gathering tomorrow.

GREAT FOOD GREAT ATMOSPHERE. I've tried almost the whole menu and everything is amazing!!! The cashiers are amazing! They also sell prepackaged vegan food and items!!!!!

I am not a vegan...or a vegetarian for that matter. This place has does a superb job of simulating junk food using vegan methods. I don't know what was in the steak sandwich I had, and frankly I don't want to. But it was delightful

Service was great, food came out fast and was presented beautifully, and was also seasoned very well and the portions were huge, and it wasn't very expensive. Will probably visit again the next time I'm passing through.

Good food but not best service. Hardly check your water. If you sit on back patio, you're on your own.

Restaurant is full of great items to take home after you enjoy one of the entrees. A nice variety of vegan food choices. The Farby is my all-time fave!

A+! Awesome and vegan-friendly!! Had my faves and yet introduced me to exciting new items! Kombucha on tap! Vegan burger and curly fries! Bahn mi hot dogs and mac n' cheese! Vegan comfort food and wonderful service!

Food was incredible! The BBQ was smokey and a bit sweet with a few crunchy burnt tips. Brat was delicious and the peppers and onions had a great crunch. All of the sides complemented the BBQ well. The s'mores cookie was a tasty finisher.

Went because parents-in-law are vegan. Farby and curly fries taste better than Arby's! It may not be real meat, but is it actually healthy? That I don't know

I'm literally blown away by Morels. I had the Buffalo Chicken sandwich, with an order of hot buffalo wings. I took one big bite and could not believe everything was vegan! The flavor was so intense and the texture and consistency replicated that perfect buffalo chicken even more so than an actual buffalo chicken sandwich. I've literally been begging my wife to see when we can get time to go back! Unbelieveable food.

No one greeted us as we walked in and then when I went to the counter the clerk acted as if I was an inconvenience to him, instead of a paying customer. Also the food was cold when it finally arrived and again the server was rude. I payed 30$ for my hamburger and fries....And to top of this terrible experience, we drove over 45min to get here...we will now gladly take our business else where.

This ranks up there with one of the best of vegetarian-friendly establishments in Louisville. Really impressed at their offerings, and I keep bullying my vegan-naive friends into going. Everyone will find something they like here.

I recommend the Farby for newcomers - it's indistinguishable from a cheddar roast beef sandwich.

The wings are incredible!!! I had the bbq sliders and loved them as well, the seasoned waffle fries rocked! The place itself is awesome, and the staff is super friendly. This place is a must go!!

I will forever love this place! This was one of my first places my husband and I tried when we first moved to Louisville and it will always be my favorite! So thankful to have found a restaurant my vegetarian self loves, and my carnivore husband enjoys too! I always choose this place when it's my pick for dinner-date-night!

Simply amazing! Very very friendly and helpful staff, to the guy and the girl working 5/23 Tuesday night- the owner should give you a raise! EXCELLENT FOOD glad I grabbed enough for a second meal!! And great decor, very contemporary. Came 2 hrs away from Indiana for a show and it was my first time in Louisville so next time I'm down there I'll hands down be going back! Thank you all so much!!

Morels is my favorite vegan go to place. Their food is really top notch, vegan or not.

I love morels! It's the best place for vegan food in Louisville, KY! They make the coolest, most delicious vegan dishes ever, there's no reason to miss real meat or cheese if you eat Morels.

The food is AMAZING! Very friendly staff and fun atmosphere.

I think a lot of the hype of Morel's comes from the atmosphere. The pulled pork nachos were great but pricey for not having any fresh veggies nor chips made in house. The animal-less fries left a lot to be desired. That being said, I loved the decor and the inclusivity.

This is a lovely, cozy, great place! Love the options and little market of goods too.

The baker here must know magic, these pastries don't taste vegan! They are though! With a menu that changes every so often it's worth popping in there from time to time checking out what they have. Just be sure to do so early so you can at least leave with a tasty treat!

The Farby is outstanding! Seitan isn't easy to perfect, but these guys have done it. The horseradish sauce is great too. We day tripped from Nashville to try this place and we weren't disappointed.

Noms every time. My only issue is we need more seating, but it seems to always work out that a table frees up before our order comes out.

farby and the bbq sliders are good. the chicken sandwich and wings are very chewy, not good. the staff isn't always friendly and attentive (especially if you sit outside). the price is a little high as well.

I frikken LOVE this place! From the decor to the staff and especially their "dope vegan food"....and today was my first time in there plus I'm not even vegan!......yet lol so deeply impressed words do not do it justice! Thank you for Morels!!

Oh my. Let me start by saying that today is my second day since my conversion of diets and I will say that this was one of my top meals I've had in quite some time. I'm working here in Louisville and visit here frequently for work so I wanted to scout out the local vegan friendly spots, Morel's Cafe was the one with the raving reviews so I figured I'd give it a shot. I read a few reviews that really enjoyed the impossible patty so I went with the classic Diner Burger, ran through the garden. I was online looking at the menu and instantly knew I had to try one of their "Fancy AF" side items to compliment my burger. Feta & Tomato salad I literally had to force myself to save some for after my burger was finished. The burger had a wonderful array of flavors and the perfect char-grilled texture that we come to know and love about a good burger. 10 outta 10, I recommend.

Love this place! Wish I lived closer. The muffaletta is amazing and the nut cheeses I always buy to take home.

Pizza burger was great / sliders to salty / not enough staff / not enough seating / I was there for lunch.

Great food. All vegan. But unless it is a nice day and you can sit outside, there is nowhere to sit.

In my humble opinion this is the most perfect vegan restaurant I have ever set foot in. They have a vegan delie with vegan cheeses. They have a few things on the menu but each one is unique and amazing. Kids welcome. They have vegan pastries and a tiny grocery area in the back and the most adorable wall decirations. Kombutcha on tap. Seating probably accommodates groups of 10 or less. They also have gender neutral bathrooms. Order at the counter and they bring it to your table.

The Farby burger...O.M.G... If you close your eyes you don't know you're not eating a roast beef sandwich from Arby's. All the deliciousness of roast beef without the guilt and digestive turmoil of "real" meat. Yay!

I had the Diner Burger and waffle fries. The fries were not at all greasy and the burger was, well, it really did taste like a burger ...very filling too. Served on a really nice pretzel bun, it was truly an impressive imposter. If someone gave it to me and told me it was a hamburger, I wouldn't have known the difference ...vegan cheese and all.

Absolutely amazing food even if you're not vegan you will love it

Went with my wife and daughter. Everything we tried was really tasty, nicely prepared. My only concern is the food was a little salty overall, which they can cut back on without sacrificing taste. This is a much needed food option in the city, I hope they really take off!

Only the BEST restaurant in Louisville!! For vegans and non vegans this is a must try for all foodies. I go here at least once a week. And the best part is that you can choose anything on the menu (even the desserts) and not gain a pound! The Diner Burger is the best entree on the menu for non vegans to try first ... and vegans go wild and choose anything you will love it all! Favorite kombucha is the lavender chamomile on tap! Don t forget to take home a cupcake, they go quick so get there while they re still available!

As a meat eater I was thoroughly impressed with the Impossible Steak House Burger. The product was delicious and indistinguishable from beef. We just stopped in for a quick dinner but I look forward to returning.

Great spot for lunch. I had the wings, my husband and 9 month old shared the Farby meal and mac n cheese. Everyone was happy. They have kombucha on tap too, yum!

THIS PLACE IS ONE OF THE BEST IVE EVER BEEN TO. They have an amazing back patio where can bring your dog and dine out in a garden setting! They have the best comfort/junk food. No doubt!

Good atmosphere and fantastic food. I am still not over just how good they make everything taste. Also, the portions are generous and if you get a side of fries you might have to leave some behind.

Great little vegan cafe...impossible burger is perfect diner style burger...lots of options and great understanding by the cook staff on preparation and flavor arrangements.

First time dining and I enjoyed myself. Feels like a very mellow and calm place. The workers are friendly and knowledgable of their food. I am not vegan or vegetarian. Yet the food was absolutely delicious. Roommate got the Chik-faux-lait and it was absolutely amazing (will be getting that next time)
I got the bratwurst. I liked the flavor, but I think it may be a sometime order for me.
This place is great for any adventurous eater.

heaven on earth

edit: changing my review from 5 to 3 stars.
portions in recent months have been cut in half while prices remain the same. 16oz cups of mac have become 8oz cups, but still remain at $6. today i got the po boy special... $12 for a baguette with 2 slices of tomato, lettuce, and a few oz of meat. +$2 for a "fancy" mac side that was shockingly devoid of cheese. it was basically just undercooked, plain noodles. im honestly really saddened by how much the quality has dropped. i used to LOVE morels and eat there multiple times per week but now i just end up feeling cheated. won't be back for some time.

I am not a vegan but wanted to give it a try. The concept is kind of vegan fast food. I tried the farby, the loaded fries, and the buffalo chicken wings. For me it kind of kissed the mark but I can see how vegans would like it as a change of pace. I did enjoy the chicken wings the best. Their dips are very good as well and woeth getting them to go.

We had a pleasant experience on our first visit this Sunday. Pro-tip: get there early, because it's a small shop and it gets BUSY. I'm actually still an omnivore, but I'm always looking to eat in a heathier and more sustainable way. My wife is a vegetarian though, so places like this give us more options when eating out.

I tried a Beyond Burger, but sadly I didn't like it as much as the Impossible Burger. I'll stick with that one next time. I tried a bite of my wife's Buffalo "chicken" sandwich and it was great.

I'm not a vegan. I eat more Paleo than anything else. It was definitely an experience and I could definitely go again but again since I'm not strictly vegan it would not be my first choice. The kombucha on tap was nice though that was a first
