great little local cafe, fun atmosphere, and family friendly feel. food is good quality, very typical breakfast fare. they serve huge mason jars of sweet tea! serving sizes are very generous and the prices are very reasonable. they get very busy so get there early!
My wife and I stopped in this charming venue for a Sunday lunch. The seating is both outdoor and indoor; pretty crowded indoors however and not socially distanced in my opinion. They offer a variety of Home baked goods, as well as breakfast and lunch items. (They close at 3, not available for dinner.) We ordered the full size portion of chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, and fried okra, and I had french toast with pecan praline topping. Both were very good.... as you can see from the pics the portion on the chicken-fried steak is massive! Breading was crispy and steak was tender, gravy was yummy and plenty of it. Genuine mashed potatoes and homemade fried okra plus a roll. My French toast was delicious, especially the pecan praline topping. Including my cup of coffee the tab was $25.40 so a very good value. Definitely recommend for very tasty meals and excellent value with capable service.
Staff is friendly and tentative. The place is clean and I wasn't talked down to for not wearing a mask.
The prices are fair, the ambiance is family kitchy friendly , the food was fantastic and their sweet tea is super good!!
Maxine's food was delicious! Also had the nicest, quickest staff. Decor was wonderful, old town Texas. Come hungry and wear stretchy pants.
Food and service great. Its worth getting off Hwy 71 to eat. Very nice we'll stop buy again.
Yum, yum, yum. We came here with our son and daughter-in-law for breakfast. We shared the chicken fried steak breakfast which was delicious and those potatoes were SO scrumptious. The kids got the jalapeno eggs benedict and the eye opener which was biscuit with sausage gravy and scrambled egg on top. Yum, yum. We enjoyed it all very much and the wait staff was great.
Great little restaurant in downtown. Lots of menu options for home-town cooking. Friendly staff and good service.
Maxine's is the restaurant to chow down at for delicious homemade food. The desserts are off the chain (Yum Yum) which includes Coconut Cream Pie, Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese frosting, Delicious Peach Cobble and on and on. Maxine's breakfast is great too!!Well!, You just gotta try it for yourself!!
Came here a few weeks ago for dinner and was impressed enough to come back for breakfast. We waited 20-30 mins with no one approaching us to take our order on a Monday morning. If there are these kinds of delays on a Monday morning, I will not be back to chance weekend mornings. With hungry kids and this being a birthday breakfast, we decided to go elsewhere.
Great as always. My favorite biscuits and gravy anywhere. The sunrise bowl with eggs over easy and extra crispy potatoes is fantastic. Great staff as well. Our server was awesome.
