Restaurant Captain Jack Review

We have been going her my whole life I am 31 years old lol. My mom used to be a server here when she was in her 20's. The food is always amazing. We moved to Vegas but always make a stop here when in town. I got the surf n turf w the crab and prime rib it was perfect!! The steamed clams are outstanding!! My aunt got the lamb and it was undercooked. We sent it back and didn't like it was very bland. The salads are always a hit. And they sang happy bday to my 2 year old daughter and gave her some ice cream. Oh yes, almost forgot I always get a Mia Tai as my cocktail they are delicious!!.
No dessert this time way to full! Also, everything is big enough to share.

Great spot for seafood! A little on the expensive side... but what do you expect for seafood next to the beach?

The melt in your mouth prime rib was worth the wait in good company but I'd recommend reservations.

Better food, better service, much better atmosphere yeats ago. Impossible to have a conversation, relax and enjoy.

We we had scallops shrimp crab it was a wonderful meal and I have the top sirloin great time great service good food .

This place is absolutely fantastic! The crab legs are HUGE! What a great place to go and be treated the way all customers want to be treated. Will definitely visit again next time we visit the area.

Hands down best Alaskan king crab I've ever eaten. Been there many times and it's the only thing I've ever ordered.

I've been going there for 34 years for their Crab Legs ... still the best I've ever had. Only once did I order something other than the crab legs and it was steak & crab legs. Their warm sour dough and pumpernickel breads are great too. More

Restaurants dont stay in business for over 50 years unless they are exceptionally fantastic. Best seafood and steaks in SoCal. Great friendly service as well. Love Captain Jacks.

I have never had a bad experience at Captain Jacks best crab legs on the planet.

A local Legend with amazing crab legs and also the ability to eat at the bar and get a great deal on their prime rib sandwich which is awesome. Also some great live music in the lounge, and their bartenders and staff are all on their game. If you do go for the full dinner, prepare for a large Bill however. I normally just go to the bar and Chow Down on that awesome prime rib sandwich that's only like 15 or 16 bucks and have a few cocktails. If you want crab legs however you have to go for the full dinner experience. Not available at the bar.

Not worth it... After waiting for 20 minutes to get a table for 1 I sat down and asked for a menu. 30 minutes later the waiter came with their big wooden sailboat shaped menu and told me about the specials, and explained they had ran out of baked potatoes, really?? I ordered the prime rib and lobster with salad and rice do to the lack of baked potatoes. The bread arrived, hot but bland needing salt with the butter, can you just give us oil and vinegar then so there's some flavor? The salad arrived having very little but much needed blue cheese crumbles and more of a watery dressing also lacking flavor, basically runny mayonnaise with a little cheese. The prime rib was cooked correctly, tender and juicy. The butter sauce had no herbs, garlic or flavor, the horse radish sauce resembled a bland Cesar dressing with no kick. The rice was just basic bland rice. The lobster was cooked correctly but nothing special as for the seasoning besides a little red pepper as a colorful garnish on top. My suggestion would be to hire a new executive chef to re tool the recipes to have some flavor. I had a better meal the day before at a chain restaurant steakhouse with a coupon at less than half the price I paid here. Respect for the cooks, I know you have to follow the recipes they trained you on and I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Over priced food without any flavor. I paid $50 for a prime rib/crab dinner, which the meat was not grass fed as advertised and crab legs from are from Costco.

I Love this place....Food the Best, service is the best, but they really need to redo the bathrooms, at least in the mens bathrooms....I am a big guy with broad shoulders and candidly i almost can squeeze in to either the urinal of the toilet stall they are so narrow.....I going there to night, so i think i going to actually tell them!!

Great seafood and steak but for a Monday night and having a reservation our table wasnt ready at 7pm? Rice WASN'T good mediocrity, and soo noisy with people dropping f bombs( all )over the place , destroying the ambiance, drinks good fish great, no real vegetables available,, very classless,, but our waiter was great!!! Bread was good too!!! Just an obnoxiously loud night and( I'm used to noise )so this was ridiculously loud experience!!! Was glad to leave and have cold stones icecream cake at home!!!! I left with headache, relief to go outside and get in our car@!!WE WERE THERE FOR A NICE FAMILY DINNER AND BIRTHDAY BUT THE F-BOMBS ALL AROUND WAS SICKENING!!!

The crab legs are the best you will ever have. The Prime Rib is out of this world. The service is top notch. The ambiance is comfortable and cozy. Sitting right on tha harbor. You can't ask for more.

Consistently the best king crab, been coming here for many years, never been disappointed. Had oysters as appetizers which were also very good. Service is excellent

Called over 40 times to get a reservation to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Received busy signal over and over. Ended up just driving there to see if still in business. Hostess stated they only have 1 phone line. Really? Waited for 2 1/2 hours for a table. Restaurant was darker then we remembered. So dark, people were using their cell phone to read the menu. After waiting forever, food was only okay and overpriced.

Made birthday party reservations 3 months in advance. Our table was in the hall and we were bumped constantly by the staff. Service was slow and no birthday wishes or desert for our birthday guest. We were so embrassed this place thinks it's nice place in laguna but it's far from it. We called and complained to management next day. We were hung up on. Called back and asked for management and never got a call back. So not a great place for special occasions. Too expensive for just another beach place owned by locals. Sunset has gone to the pigs.

I have been visiting Captain Jacks since I was 9 years old. I am now 56. I have been all over the U.S. and eaten at some of the finest establishments, but the food and the Staff at Jacks is by far...second to none. Add a few drinks to celebrate and take in the atmosphere, and there is nowhere else That I would rather dine at. It's been months now that Captain Jacks has been closed and this virus thing is starting to get on my nerves......Knock..Knock ......Let me in already. I can't wait much longer...and neither should any of you, who have not had the extreme pleasure of dining there.

Excellent!!!! The service had that rare combination of speed, personality and friendliness. I felt at home and comfortable while being waited on hand and foot. The food is as good if not better than any place I've ever been before! Simply put.... I had a great time.

Very nice establishment. The menu was complete from the air to land to sea. Although I did not have their crab, it is on my to do list their. The crab were enormous and looked delicious. The Salad they served with my entree was more like a main dish with all the sides they put into it. The only thing they could improve upon would be having more salad dressing choices like a raspberry/walnut vinaigrette and honey mustard. The food is terrific regardless. Highly recomend!

I have been coming to Captain Jack's for years. Unfortunately my most recent trip was terrible. I got the prime rib - lobster combo, my prime was was more fatty than usual and had absolutely NO flavor. My lobster was over cooked on the outside yet seemed mushy on the inside. The restaurant was super loud, to the point you could not have a conversation without yelling. I gave this rating 3 stars because i know how good the food use to be. Honestly i dont know if i will go back the bread was fabulous as always

My wife and I have been eating here for the past 13 yrs. We have never had a bad meal or bad service in all those yrs. Anytime we are in So. Cal. we eat at least one meal at the Captain's. There have even been several occasions (Anniv.) when we have driven from Reno, NV. to the restaurant just to have dinner. We spend the night in town and then head for home the next morning. Come April we will be returning for another great meal. This time we will be bringing some friends.
You can not go wrong at Captain Jacks---IT IS THE BEST.

Outstanding seafood at a reasonable price, great atmosphere, professional staff

Was a busy Saturday so food was super slow and a little overpriced if I was to be honest. We were 10 mins early and so was advised to take a seat at the bar. Not ordering drinks as we were told 10-15 mins the bar-man made us feel a little in the way so we stood... my wife 8 months pregnant it all felt a little rude. We stood for 40 mins before seated.

Great place to go with family or for a date. I always eat the crab legs, but the other items on the menu are really good. The seafood is always fresh here.
