This office is the go to place when you have a veterinary emergency. They have capable and hospitable Vets on duty at all hours. They are easy to reach by phone and centrally located just off the 101 amd near the 12 in Santa Rosa. They don't gouge you for at appts. I suggest giving them permission when you take your animal in to do any treatments they deem necessary to get your animal through a crisis so they can save your animal. They are ethical and trustworthy.

This is my first time coming to this vet and I will be returning for any emergency I have with my dogs. I got in, in a timely manner, compared to VCA that was a 4-6 hour wait. It didn't break my bank at all everything was reasonably priced. I love this place and will be recommending this vet to everyone!

Excellent veterinary care for my pet. They took the time to review my pets medical history, ran some lab tests, administered vaccinations, and the whole didn't cost my entire savings. Thanks for taking the time to care for my pet.

This is a horrible clinic and I ve been a client here for years. My daughters dog was stolen and somehow ended up at Redwood vet. The dog is chipped so they called us to say they had the dog. They proceeded to tell my husband he could not go and get her because the dog was registered to our daughter. He explained that she was in San Francisco. They refused to let us pick her up and called animal control since it would be more than 30 minutes until the dog could be picked up! This is how they treat loyal customers we ve paid them hundreds of dollars if not thousands over the years they never had a problem taking our money! This is not a pet friendly place! They only care about the money. I will never take another animal there. I will tell everyone I know how horrible they are.

Very good people. They were very sympathetic when we had to let our cat go over the Rainbow bridge. They are a great vet with reasonable prices. They don't try to gouge you for all types unnecessary treatments and tests. The staff is efficient and skilled

Clean place. Staff was kind and attentive. I felt that they care about their work and patients. Location is small and kinda hard to navigate especially for first timers. But well worth the visit.

They saved my dog's life after he bloated. They had a surgeon on duty, just be ready to pay up front, which was a little disconcerting given the emergency I was dealing with. Still, the vet care was exemplary.

I have used Redwood Veterinary for many years and have been extremely pleased with Dr Hoskins' ability to accurately diagnose and manage the veterinary care of my dogs. This practice is a gem in the North Bay.

I have been going to redwood vet for 15 years. My favorite vet is dr Hoskins. I've been taking both my dogs to him for 10 years now. I have 1 with cancer and the other has a spinal cord injury. He has saved their lives

I have a German Shepherd breeder for more than 30 years and I have going to Redwood Veterinary Clinic for almost 30 years, early on to see Dr. Schaefer and now to see Dr. Hoskins. For me, there is no better veterinarian in the San Francisco Bay Area and he has saved the lives of my dogs countless number of times.

This facility is amazing and most of the doctors are great. I do not reccomend dr. Joyce Peterson.... had to go to her for my dog while dr. Hodgkins was out and she was no help at all and over charged by 100 of the normal blood test and didn't get any results. Worst experience I've ever had there. Other then dr. Peterson the place is amazing.

Worst experience I ever had there . I ve been doing there 10 plus years . Drive almost 3 hours to go there to test my dogs . First they said my dog was too happy to X-ray. Then wanted to muzzle him . Then went onto to say they have to sedate them . Normally I could go back and help with x rays . This time my dog was extremely stressed all they wanted was sedate n get it done . I paid for all OFA s to be sent in yet they threw away thyroid . So I never even got a result .

This is the only place I go to for 24 hour pet care. I've been here a number of times for one of my dogs. They staff continue to remain compassionate and understanding. I would recommend this vet clinic to anyone looking for great pet care.

I have had a few times where I have had serious issues with my pet and they have been compassionate, caring and when another "high priced, fancy overhead clinic" couldn't diagnose Parvo, and we thought our pet was going to die, Redwood saved her. I am very grateful and would recommend them to anyone.

The quality of care here is exceptionally good. They have good staffing levels, and all of the veterinarians are extremely kind, well educated and effective. Don't be fooled by the facility looking old and in need of update. This is a 24-hour vet hospital and it's pretty obvious they don't have time to screw around with office design upgrades. I take my three cats and my dog there, and I love it.

Hello my name is Aviv Sahar.

Hello my name is Aviv Sahar.
I brought my puppy there about week and helf ago.
I sent them a email with my thoughts but they didnt replay so I'm writing this review.
My puppy pomsky 8 months old was throwing up non stop for about 20min and getting very weak just laying down and not willing to move that is huge red flag for me.
I called in to bring her in and was explaining every min she looks a lot worse I'm on my way please save her I feel like she is dieing on me.
We got disconnected I called again they put me on hold and said the doc is going on lunch she will check if she can help.
Really? You think when my puppy is having a meltdown that the emergency place doc is going on lunch?. I got there and I was bagging outside for someone to come help me for 15 min until someone came and took her after 20 min they called to take a $500 deposit to assure I have enough $ otherwise they wont do anything they actually said they waited for the deposit before they looked at her meaning they took her in but didnt start anything until I put a deposit down.

After 24 hours she was realsed no final diagnose was given doc says we cant know what it was that's ok the bottom line is she is ok now.

Yes we are in a pandemic I lost my job all my income but there is a way to treat people you are here to save animles the $ should be not handled like that its disgusting its horrible no humanity at all just $$$$ its emergency why wont you treat first then hundle the $?

$1100 for tests some fluids staying overnight is outrageous.

Today you are my vet tomorrow I am that investor that you come to look for financial support your business but he remembered how he was treated and with your clinic.

We are all human and in times like this we should be here for each other help and support.
I felt I was misstreated.
I hope the owner of this clinic calls me to make this right.

I found a little tortie colored kitty crying for help in the ivy next to my house in the park. She was soaked in urine and couldnt move very well so i scooped her up and put her in my cats carrier. Im so greatful that we have a 24hr emergency vet so close to home!!! I immediately took her here and when i brought her inside the 2 lovely ladies immediately took her in. They were very nice and compassionate. They scanned her for a chip and found one!!! They even reassured me that if they couldnt find the owner that they would treat her and send her to a no-kill shelter . She was in good hands and im so greatful that they exist. Thank you and your entire team of animal hero's!!!

They were kind and quick during my ER situation. It wasn't very busy being a Saturday evening, they took us in almost immmediately. The receptionists were very sweet and Dr. Llanes was very knoweledgable, quick to calm my panic by answering all questions quickly and confidently, and ensuring me that my dog will indeed be OK. Upon leaving I was expecting to receive a hefty fine for having my nerves calmed with 4 bottles of meds and a physical exam. All in all, on a Saturday 4:30 pm visit, they only charged me $86. I thought I was going to cry. Her usual vet had quoted me over $300 the day before so I had tried to care for her the best I could at home until I could have a friend loan me money. I'm so thankful her regular vet was unavailable, and that mendo hospital receptionist in Ukiah was so unproffesional and rude, or I'd have never had this experience with Redwood Vet. You can tell its about the animals here, and I am so beyond grateful for it. If you want a big fancy vet that will rob you to pay their mortgage/electric, go across town, but if you want a vet that cares about animals and an establishment that has proven itself since 1961, Redwood clinic is your jam. Thank you, Dr. Llanes and reception for taking care of my baby girl.

They took care of my friends dog with gentle care, as he was attacked by a big dog. They didn't recommend any unnecessary testing, but did get take care of what needed to be done. The pricing was very decent. We were out of there in about two hours. I would definitely recommend this 24 hour clinic!

Small clinic, with old time practice and pace. If you want something hurried, or quick this is not your place, go down the road to the animal hospital. However, if you want a more personable experience, love for your pet and an old-time feeling this is replaced. The costs are not outrageous and very worth the treatment and one-on-one you get.

Tried to take my dog here after eating a massive amount of chocolate and I was simply told there weren t any vets at the clinic to see my dog. Even though this is supposed to be an emergency Clinic... they told me the vets out for lunch for another hour and even then they wouldn t be available to see my dog because there aren t any open appointments...even though this is an emergency clinic... Don t take your animal here is you actually care about it.

This is a great clinic for my pets. It got so I was unable to spend the high prices of some of the designer pet clinics in Marin County. My Golden Retriever, who is the light of my life, needed a mass removed from her chest. I had taken her to our regular clinic in Marin, which I love, but they were going to cost $1200. I also took her to SF SPCA hospital to see if they could do the procedure. They gave me an estimate of $1800 to remove a lipoma... The lipoma was located in an area that affected her running so it really had to be removed. The Marin Humane Society recommended Dr. Hoskins at the Redwood Veterinary Clinic. I was very happy with their professionalism and their excellent care they gave my girl, and the best of all is that they only charged $500, including keeping her overnight to make sure she was okay.

I have been going there for OFA and puppy count xrays for 4 years without issue. This last OFA xray done in January had questionable positioning. I voiced my concerns about the positioning, stated that I have been told by many people including the top Border Collie breeder in the US to get them redone. They refused and thankfully my dog passed but I came home today to a letter stating that they will not be taking my services and to find another vet. After one single complaint they are refusing to do X-rays for me in the future. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional.

Absolutely do not recommend this place.

We brought our cat in on a Sunday, having been working with our regular vet - closed on Sundays - for a few weeks to diagnose a still-unknown illness. She took a rapid turn for the worse and was suddenly unable to walk, so we raced out to Redwood.

When we eventually got into an exam room, we calmly and carefully explained what we did know about her condition. The tech was fine, but the vet clearly had about 30 seconds for us. I was in the process of bringing her out of the cage, and after a second or two the vet just picked it up and DUMPED her out - again, cat can't walk for an unknown reason. Maybe don't throw her around. We were asked a few cursory questions before the vet left again to "talk to the team." Then a tech came in with a list of services they wanted to perform (to the tune of $2000+), most of which had not been explained to us, and had items listed that did not apply to our cat at all. She left to correct the paperwork.

Vet came back, apparently assuming we were going to OK a few thousand dollars' worth of unexplained services at the drop of a hat, and asked if I had emailed her the diagnostics from our regular vet. Well, no - she'd spent two minutes with us before, and left before saying where to send them. Vet said she'd get us that info and left again.

While we waited, we heard the tech who had messed up our paperwork talking about outright losing another patient's. At that point we had already decided not to leave our cat with a practice that can't even handle paperwork or explain what they're charging for, but that confirmed it for us.

Got some fluids & meds for our kitty to hold her over until the next day, and left. We never even saw the "correct" paperwork; the list of services attached to our reciept was still the wrong list, and didn't include any information whatsoever about the stuff they'd actually given her.

TL;DR: terrible experience from start to finish. At no point did we feel they actually listened to or cared what we had to say, or that our cat would be well cared-for. Thankfully our regular vet recommended a different emergency practice for the future, because you couldn't pay us to put an animal in Redwood's hands ever again.

This place is ridiculous an emergency vet hospital that wont see me dog because hes a Caine Corso Mastiff . He's sitting here dying and they still refused to care for my Dog . Worst Vet ever ! If my dog dies tonight we will be talking face to face and I'm much bigger then my dog .

This has been our go to place for emergency care for the last 14 years. They've treated all three dogs we've had in that time.

The prices are very reasonable and the care is top notch. If you want amazing care at prices that are affordable you should utilize this places emergency care vs some of the other vet places.

Took my dying dog in to see how much it would be for them to look at her. Was turned away because they didn't have any appointments. Didn't even ask what I came in for

The doctor was very kind, thorough, and clear with what steps were recommended. I never felt pressured to have to do something and she did not push me to do any of the recommendations. The vet tech was also very kind and took the time to discuss aftercare treatment and ways to reduce/prevent stressors for my pup related to COVID. I never felt rushed or that they were in a rush either.

Only downside was the lab work was a bit pricey but with the explanation I received,I felt it was worth it to rule out any major medical problems.

This vet clinic saved my dog s life over a year ago and the cost was unbelievably low for the length of stay, procedures and medicine. The staff was unbelievable and allowed us to visit him at all times of the day and night. Recently our second dog had cancer surgery and we received the same Wonderful and caring treatment as with our first dog. We are eternally grateful to have them in our community.

Don't go here for urgent care. The staff is uncoordinated, disinterested, and totally without compassion. They'd rather let a pet die in the parking lot than attend to an emergency without finishing the paperwork first.

Our cat collapsed suddenly and was crying in pain and gasping for breath. It was around 9:00 PM, so we rushed her here. A sign said to stay outside, so we called to say she was in the parking lot and needed immediate help, but they wouldn't see her until they'd taken all of our information incredibly slowly over the phone. I watched her deteriorate while my husband answered their questions. She was dying and they were right there, not doing anything. It was horrible. The person who finally came out to get her was slow as well, didn't even pretend like it was urgent, just meandered. I wasn't allowed to go in with her. She came back outside after a while to ask some general questions we'd already answered on the phone, and then asked if I wanted to "let her go" or have them to do CPR. Why didn't she lead with that? How was it more important to ask how old she is again before asking if we wanted her life to be saved? Why did she even need to ask? That's why we brought her! I said CPR, yes, please, anything! Minutes later, a different person called on the phone to ask the same question: Her heartbeat is weak, do we want them to do CPR? I again said YES, and they replied "I don't know if we're going to give her back" and hung up. It was terrifying. Why weren't they communicating with each other? Why weren't they trying to save her? They called back not long after to say she died. We were finally allowed in to see her. She was sprawled out on a table in the most depressing and filthy little room. I held her and cried and cried. They charged us $86 for "examining" her. (Watching her die?) They were so heartless. As I was sobbing and stroking her head while waiting for them to run our credit card, one of them told me "Keep the pee pad. Sometimes they leak a little." And then we were shuffled out the door. It was like a nightmare. If I'd known they were going to waste precious time that could have been spent saving her life, I'd have tried taking her elsewhere, or at least kept her with me where she might have been comforted and felt a little less afraid in her final moments.

Joan (the office lady) and all of the other staff have been very good to me and my 2 cats.

Overall i would recommend them to almost anyone and they are one of the most economical vets ive ever been too.

When my old pug needed to have knee surgery I got quotes from 5 or so local Vets. This vet came in 600-900 cheaper than all the rest and they warrantied the surgery for the life of the pet. They are extremely fair priced and they are open 24/7. I've brought a lot of my dogs here and always have paid a fair price. We just got a new puppy and will be bringing him here for all his care.

The staff was so nice and answered all my questions. They even called to let me know my dog was awake and fine after surgery. Dr Hoskins is amazing person. He was incredibly kind to my family and my dog. He went above and beyond for us. We are truly thankful for him. The whole experience was amazing and easy.

I had a negative experience at Redwood Veterinary ...

I had a negative experience at Redwood Veterinary Clinic under the lack of care of Dr. Heiller.
I travelled to Redwood Veterinary Clinic two nights in a row with a chief complaint of foxtails in my dogs THROAT and nose, presenting as hacking, vomiting masses of fox tails, sneezing, inflammation and lethargy. Dr. Heiller removed a foxtail from his nasal passages, but did not do a thorough examination of his throat (chief complaint), and claimed "mild swelling", brushed me off with cough medicine delivered in a condescending and irritated tone of voice. After TWO separate examinations she missed what was IMMEDIATELY diagnosed by a second DVM as a GOLF BALL SIZED abscess in his throat.
I believe that many of my concerns where lost in communication, because I was passed through so many different hands and no one seemed to know what was going on.
I do not wish to defame a doctor's credibility, but to remind them to treat each patient as your first, and to deliver the high quality care you would hope to recieve.
I will carry this exhaustive, costly , time consuming, and traumatic experience with me forever, and always question a diagnosis.
