Island Movers Review

Awesome moving service! I can't believe how quick they were at moving all of our stuff! They told me it would take 2 days to move all of our stuff after the inspection and they did it all in 1 day. Really friendly and very respectful staff. Thank you all so much for your help during this stressful time in my life!
Update: We received all of our stuff and everything was so nicely packed that nothing was broken. We were so worried because on our way to the island we had a few things broken.

My Costco Washer & dryer. My fault, was delivered to my work 30 seconds away from my house. BUT!!
After receiving confirmation the driver was on his way (no address confirmation) and would install and REMOVE old units they delivered Washer & Dryer, was supposed to setup the new and remove old machines. Just Dropped new units in the driveway and left. No contact, no signature, nothing. When I called the office they said, they cant help today, they need a new work order from Costco and they would have to schedule for another day. You would think a local company would try to help you out. But no. No compromise . Costco said they would contact me ASAP and reschedule to take to the correct address and do what I paid for. I had to do it myself. What a waste of time. Don't use this company, you may have to end up doing everything yourself even if you paid and hassle to get refunded.

Efficient, friendly, safe....Adam and Remy delivered, unpacked, installed electrical cable, and installed and tested our Sears Electrolux Electric Clothes dryer. They removed broken dryer and packing materials.

We hired Island Movers to move from Oahu back to mainland. We had a small studio apartment, so we could box things up and mail them, which would have been much cheaper. However, we invested in a termpurpedic bed which was less than a year old that we wanted in our new home. So we hired Island movers.

1. Over-estimation: they gave us an estimate. It was more than we wanted to pay. So we gave up some of the things we intended to move to reduce the estimated weight. It turns out that the estimated weight was actually much higher than it actually was. Our stuff ended up weighing under the minimum weight they give per pound deals. So we were charged more per pound for their over estimatimation.

2. Stolen/missing bed: On the day the movers come to pack our stuff, after putting everything in a vanpack, they nailed it in front of us. We were assured that things packed in the van pack will arrive safely to our new home. To the contrary, the van pack was opened somewhere along the way and the bed (mattress, box spring, and the frame) was stolen. One other item, a less than a year old Nespresso machine was stolen as well. The two things we bought new in Hawaii. We did not expect this. We were in shock. We thought maybe things might get damaged, but that could happen in a move. We did not even imagine a whole bed gone missing. The insurance we chose was minimum. They not only charged us the moving cost by weight (including the weight of our bed, which was the heaviest household item), they offered us .60 cents per pound to compensate a nearly $3,000 bed.

3. Stolen/missing Nesspresso machine: Guess what. Our less than a year old Nesspresso machine was stolen, too.

The way they handled this was poor. We asked for an update on the search of our missing/stolen bed, which you would think the least they can do. They did not update us. I called them numerous times in despair.

If you are considering hiring them, I suggest you do not. If you must hire them, I recommend you get an expensive insurance so that if they let your valuables stolen, you get the compensation that you deserve.

They delivered our new fridge from Costco and took the time to remove the doors off because it was too big for our entry door. They replaced the doors, connected the water and filter and made sure everything was working before they left. Excellent! Thanks so much guys.

They never showed up for delivery and no phone call saying they were not coming.

as THE ONLY Sears contract delivery company on Oahu, I was forced to use them to deliver and set up my new dryer I purchased from Sears. The delivery included basic installation, hook up and testing before leaving.
They refused to use the old power cord. They refused to stack the machines because there wasn't a compatible attachment kit available. Suc,h they could not test the operation of machine.
They dropped it off and left without installation. In my opinion, they did everything they could to try to not to complete the job.
Given the choice I NoWOULD

No call the day prior to advise of delivery time. Got a call the day of delivery saying the truck was running late and asked to reschedule. My schedule didn t allow for it but I was fine with waiting. An hour later I got a call saying the truck had broken down. Yeah, ok.

Ignorance was bliss when Home Depot hired another local third party company to install our new dryer in our home. The red flag should have been when the "head installation manager" of that company told us to leave a good review for them online for their services. Before they left they told us that our circuit breaker was broken and not to use the new dryer until an electrician came, or we could be liable for damages. Well an electrician came and said our circuit breaker was fine! Our new dryer was leaking water, destroying our clothes from extra long dry times, and just wreaking havoc. Something you would expect from an old dryer not a new one... Then I requested that Home Depot send Island Movers. What a difference between the two companies! Not just in professionalism and accountability, but just the simplicity of one doing their job and doing it correctly. When Island Movers installed the new dryer, the same model as our previous dryer, they noticed that our drain hose (that was included with the manual) was not installed AT ALL by the previous company! They even knew to turn off our circuit breaker before hand, hence showing they read the manual, which the other company did not do. They even went the extra mile to show us that our dryer's power cord outlet was set up wrong and showed us how to zip tie it so it would prevent future damage to the cord. When they were done, they taped easy start instructions on the dryer for our first use. They of course checked the heat and the dryer's functionality before they left. They then thanked us afterwards and never once asked us to leave a review. But I had to!
It seems like these days that accountability and to ask people to do their job, is asking for too much. When you come across people that truly appreciate their job and enjoy what they are doing, it shows in their service. Island Movers thank you for turning our unpleasant experience into a pleasant one. Thank you for doing your job and doing it well! We appreciate honest hardworking people such as your employees at Island Movers :)

We had the absolute best experience from start to finish for moving our household furnishings into an ocean container including trucking to/from pier. They quoted quickly and laid out the plan, we employed a couple fabulous guys to help load the container from their packing division and the entire move was treated as a complete project. The container delivery, loading services and pick up was executed precisely to meet our limited timeline. We could not be more pleased. These guys need to be cloned...and given a pizza party!! Thanks, not an item was busted! My husband was correct when he declared, "these guys are pros!"

Very helpful crew and did a great job. Very friendly and courteous. Came on time and finished quickly. Did everything right.

Original delivery date cancelled the day before because truck broke down. Second delivery date window was 1-2. Driver called at 2:10 saying he would be there in 40-50 minutes. All of this after the item had been on island 20 days waiting to be delivered. Service not reliable and not considerate of customer wait times for delivery. Use only as a last resort. Recommend that COSTCO find another delivery contractor.

Island Movers packed up and managed our big household move from Honolulu to Georgia this summer. They did a spectacular job from start to finish. We have lots of glass and marble items, including big, glass doors for some shelving units. Nothing broke, despite the long journey, due to the careful and competent manner in which all of the items were packed. The movers in Georgia who unpacked us told us that it was one of the best packing jobs they had ever seen. The estimator, Kristine, and the office staff could not have been more courteous and helpful in answering questions and in keeping me informed regarding the location of our items and the estimated date of arrival. Needless to say, Island Movers has my highest recommendation.

Wonderful customer service from Ms. Adele (excuse me if the name is spelled incorrectly). She went beyond her call of duty and we at Salt Lake are forever grateful. The compassion and fairness that was shown tends to be unmatched in this day and age. Just taking the time to listen and process can go a long ways. Mahalo from blue shirt!

I thought the driver was going to freak out when he had to get a 20 ft container into a tiny spot at the back of a Chinatown parking lot. He threaded it in like a pro with a smile on his face. We were then clueless on how to open the thing and he helped us with that too.

Wow, they know how to drive that truck. I don't know how they got our shipping container onto our street in between all the parked cars, etc. Very helpful.

Ordered washer/dryer from sears. Supposed to be delivered today but they were supposed to call before so I knew what time I needed to be there. No call. Later in the day I get a call telling me they attempted to deliver but no one was there. Appearantly the drivers don t know how to use a phone. Now I get to wait 2 more days because they screwed up! Would avoid this company if you don t need to use them!

Just received my couch from Costco by Island Movers. We are very impressed! Received calls before delivery, brought all six HUGE boxes inside, opened everything, put the couches together, took the empty boxes and wrapping, all within 20 minutes!!!
Five stars all the way!!! I d give ten stars if I could.

they shouldnt park on lemon road on the waikiki grand hotel side of property while doing work at queen kapiolani hotel without permission its causing problems with condo owners thanks hotel security.

They made our move so easy. We didn t get our keys until 430, so I was able to schedule the crew to arrive at 1230. They showed up with adequate supplies, trucks, and muscle. They worked hard and were careful with our things. We are almost completely unpacked, and it s all in the same condition they picked it up in. I would definitely recommend them for your move.
