College told me I didn't have a place a week after I had started and mixed into a class. If I hadn't of gone to someone higher in the college they would of stopped me being on the course like they did to the other 5 people who just accepted it and left.

Would it have really been so hard to tell us we didn't have a place before we showed up at the college? Well apparently for Animal Management it is. A running theme with that department is bad organization. I forgot to mention the fact you cannot work with the animals you want to work with. 2 years of a course working on the zoo and I still have never been given the opportunity to work with the primates. I hate cleaning out farm animals, but it's the only practical we ever seem to do. I even asked to work with the multiple primates they have within the zoo and they said they would, but we just got birds instead. Such a terrible course.

Reaseheath college is a fantastic learning experience regardless of what course you choose to attend and a perfect way to see what a proper college is like (not a 6th form) you will meet fantastic people in an amazing setting. As a 3 year student I had some of the best times of my life as a student there.

I dont usually make reviews but my issues are enough to list here.

> Tutors never stop quitting the course, no doubt due to stress and being unhappy it makes everyone else on the course unhappy.
> Because the tutors keep dropping like flies student learning and grades no doubt suffer as a result. (Stability is important in a student's life.)
> B ready? What the ****. I'm 24 years old. How patronizing and to make it worse it's compulsory??? I do not need to learn about sex education, drugs, alcohol. It's a damn waste of my time and fuel money.

And here's the most controversial subject of the lot.
> The course is filled with an abnormally high concentration of autistic people who do not know how to behave in an adults environment and typically ruin the learning experience for others when not under constant supervision. (No doubt this is what caused tutors to treat everyone like children.)

We attended for an educational experience. We were more than impressed with our visit. Can't wait to visit again.
The children will remember the firsthand experience with the animals for a long time

If you want to waste 4 hours a day waiting around because the class on that day only runs for two hours, this is the college for you. And best of it all is that some of the lessons are just copping PowerPoints straight from the board, something that you could of done at home! And the practicals on the Food tech course consists of making brownies and cookies for weeks on end, not learning anything, apart from how to work the milk pasturiser as a one of lesson. All in all good luck with this course and don t even think about going to university unless you put in a lot of effort, as this course is worth NO UCAS POINTS.

Decent college in my opinion, it's very relaxed, the staff are friendly the foods alright and the lessons on my course are well planned out, shout out to the engineering staff who are some of the best. Would be 5 starts but the acomidaction for the under 18s could be better.

1. The teachers are either extremely patronising or downright horrible. I had one of them shout at me for correcting their pronunciation of my name. Also, they clearly favourite and give special treatment to certain students.

2. Practicals are not something to look forward to. It's literal labour. You're basically doing a zookeepers job without being paid. You don't get any rest/breaks for 3 hours and you can't pick the animals you work with.

3. All the trips are so poorly organised. Who arranges a trip to chester zoo in November when it's freezing and raining?!?!

4. Work experience is stupid. If you can't find a placement, they won't help you out.

5. The college is full of snobby bullies and the teachers don't care.

DO NOT GO TO REASEHEATH!

I have just recently finished a 2 year course at the college in Food Technology and management and wouldn t recommend the college to anyone they say the course is a 3 day course when actually lectures only cover 1 day so you are left waiting around most of the time. When it comes applying to uni you may as well only consider Harper Adams as the actual course is worth no UCAS points!!! The staff in the food department however are very friendly just wished they hadn t of lied when going to the college saying it was equivalent to 3 A levels. So basically if you want to waste 2 years on a Food course that gets you hardly anywhere I wouldn t recommend the course or department as a whole!!

At first they come of as friendly but when the staff realise they are dealing with someone who has disabilities there attitude changes and they don t acknowledge that these people learn differently some staff was rude to me and they made out in the letter they sent back home that they did everything right and I did everything wrong they down right lied through there teeth to keep there good reputation which I find a disgusting thing to do they don t wanna help special needs adults get a good education they just want to have the normal adults Because they don t want to deal with Extra difficulties they are discriminating against special needs/disability s and it needs to stop

I studied a HE course here and have worked for them since too. As someone with Dyslexia they were more than empathetic in the class with the couple of things most wouldn t think about. The extra out of class support that is available really encouraged me to explore different learning methods. Knowing there is somewhere you can drop in regularly just to ask the simple questions makes a massive difference! Lovely location and grounds. Great place to study and work!

Animal management department discriminates against mental health issues. I suffer mental health issues. The college tries really hard to give equal opportunities to people with autism, dyslexia and ADHD, however as soon as you have an anxiety disorder they turn a blind eye and expect you to be able to do everything a mentally healthy person can do. I was even told to drop out if I can't cope with the course during my first year. The further the course progressed the more I wish I had.

Poor teaching staff especially in the animal management department. Can t organise anything. Staff don t communicate therefore students get called liars. Coursework lost due to staff changes. Ignore mental health issues and use it against students. Awful college. Many staff are unhappy and maybe this is the cause of the issues and because of this students are suffering.

Amazing support from the well being team. People at the marketing team are also very nice. Did not receive a good treatment from LSC staff or animal management staff however. Campus is beautiful but staff attitudes vary greatly and can ruin things

I bring my 4 young children to the lambing each year. With every year they grow older they love it more, there's always new things to see and new experiences to be had. The general attitude of all of the staff/students is amazing. 4 kids can be stressful but nothing is too much trouble for any of them. One of my favourite family days out. Can not recommend it enough. The family day is great too, we will be going again this year

My daughter was discriminated against by animal management staff. I feel as though members of staff in that department need to be the ones being forced to go to compulsory B-ready... The staff clearly needs it more than the students!

The college campus is nice, however my personal experiences on the animal management course was far from it.

The course was awful. Everyone was stressed and the tutors kept leaving and when we got replacement tutors they would also end up leaving too. I must have gone through easily over 20 tutors over my time on the course.

Practicals are a chore rather than actually being a fun experience. This is due to the fact the keepers refuse to give the students choices in what animals they get to work with. This means students have to spend months cleaning out animals they are either uninterested in or scared of. Examples would be girls in my class who were terrified of insects, yet had to spend months in a room with spiders, ants and cockroaches freely roaming the invert room. Another example is my friend who loves fish being forced to work with farm animals constantly despite picking the exotics pathway.

Staff in general seem to fail to understand they are teaching in a college. Many act incredibly patronizing towards their students treating them as though they are children. I recall many times when a entire class of 18-20 year old students were patronized by tutors who seem more at home to be teaching in a high school than an actual college establishment.

Another issue is the discrimination within the course towards mental health issues. Students with depression, bipolar, etc being told to drop out if they can't cope instead of being given support to get through the year. Most students I knew suffering mental health issues dropped out because of the sheer lack of support the tutors gave.

Attendance to the Animal Management course is terrible as many students don't feel motivated to come in and learn because of the way they are treated. Our class even had someone come in to tell us that attendance is at an all time low and they know it's because nobody enjoys the course. They asked us what was wrong and when people told them they never did anything to fix the issues raised.

Overall I do not recommend this course for anyone unless they want to:
- Be working with farm animals endlessly.
- Be treated like a child by the tutors.
- Be waiting for hours for a tutor to show up for a lesson.
- Be exposed to a constant state of unorganized chaos.
- Be struggling to cope with stress and suicidal thoughts.

Signed up for food tech and accommodation. I have mental health issues therefore can't take the transport. I have spent a lot of money and time going back and forth for no reason.
I went on two tours and not once was I told about an expensive deposit and the overly priced price to stay. I am being treated like an idiot. Also I have to appeal for free accommodation (still having to pay for the deposit).I was told that even after properly enrolling I would have to wait 4 weeks for a bus pass. I don't think anyone understands that I live far away and I have mental and physical health issues. So now I am stuck with nothing.

I was also told bakery isn't a proper course(along those lines) therefore they won't pay for my accommodation.
Mother received a call and was told I have a room for myself and didn't say anything about a deposit again. When I went recently after that call they said I am sharing a room. No communication.

I am having bad anxiety and stress due to my experience.

Edit: Thank you very much, however contacting you would make my daughters given situation far worse.

Currently studying animal management course. I wouldn t even think it deserves 1 star from my view. Tutors are the ABSOLUTE worse. Get treated like children all of the time, always moody bad tempered tutors which snap at you for anything. Absolute horrible place I would highly NOT recommend animal management. All tutors are lazy, down right horrible people in general, always pick favourites & NEVER help people with mental health issues. Practical lessons are pointless, all you do is do a zoo keepers unpaid work for 3.5 hours with no break, don t even get a choice of what you want to work with & then again, get bossed around & treated badly by the instructors. If you have a problem with college, no point going to your course manager they won t do anything. Also extremely rude reception ladies who always give you dirty looks & can never be bothered doing their job right, very unwelcoming not to mention the snobby librarians. Absolute joke Reaseheath College is, do NOT let your child come here.

I was really excited to come to this college and study here. It was not a good experience though. Pretty much every bad review I've read about Animal management here I agree with. I would think that the single department puts the entire college to shame. I studied both horticulture and Animal Management. What I found is that horticulture was a brilliant course in comparison to animal management. Just the attitudes on that course were far better there. The tutors are such an integral part of any course you'll ever have at any college and if they have bad attitudes it wont make you want to recommend the college to anyone.

I'm currently in my second year at the college studying forestry and arboriculture and I can honestly say this college is so amazing!

The staff are all helpful and enthusiastic about teaching and the industry, and they have a lot of wisdom to share. The practical and theory lessons are all so much fun and engaging. Staff are quick to help you if you do not understand and they definitely go out of their way for their pupils.

During my first year I fell pregnant which was a shock to me after being told there was a high chance I couldn't concieve. I was worried about college due to the fact that my course is mainly an all male course but I told my course manager, Alan, before even telling my own family and he was amazing with the amount of advice and help I was given, I was even referred to a councillor!

I cannot fault my councillor her name was Natalie and she was amazing helping me and telling me about her time as a young mum too! She helped me make a plan of how I can carry on college and even how I could financially too!

The college was very understanding if I needed time off for doctors appointments or anything else and they fought for me when city and guilds told me to climb and fell trees at 5 months pregnant.

Now in my second year I am receiving so much help! My head of department Jamie gives up his office every 2/3 hours to give me a private place to pump my milk so I can continue breast feeding... I am also given a fridge to store it and a microwave to sterilize the parts! I am given a lot of help with catching up on my work and assignments. I have even got one of the Countryside staff offering me to borrow her electric breast pump from when she had her children! After having my baby I now struggle, strength wise, to climb trees as I used to and they are very understanding and help me a lot with that too! Ican honestly say the staff go above and beyond caring for not just me but every one of their pupils. I am so thankful for my whole department who are just some of the most caring people I will ever meet.
