We stopped by for dinner on Friday. The food was very good - well seasoned, great taste. My only issue is the pricing. I feel like $10 is quite high for what equates to a side dish of potato salad. And, $14 is a bit much for a chicken breast (that hasn't been pounded thin and isn't served with any sides). The kabob tasted good, but kabob meat should be shaved thin rather than chunks (and again, pricey for what you get). Though the food and drink were good, I don't know that we would come back. We spent $100 to essentially have three small potato pancakes, a kabob, a chicken breast, a side of potato salad, a slice of pie, and three drinks. It just didn't seem like we got enough for what we paid.

Visited this neighborhood gem for the first time tonight and I highly recommend. The wait staff was attentive and the food and cocktails were awesome. I would recommend reservations as there was a constant stream of patrons. Will definitely return!!!

A new find for us, Rathskeller turned out to be a delightful, upscale and cozy place to enjoy drinks and dinner. The menu is not huge, but it's more than enough to cover a variety of tastes. The staff is very attentive, the food cooked to perfection and served piping hot. I recommend reservations, as the place is somewhat small but never feels overcrowded.

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful experience at the Rathskeller on Valentines day. It was the first time either one of us ate at a German restaurant and we couldn't of been more pleased. It was very busy, but it was cozy, intimate and the noise level wasn t bad.
We ordered the 5 course pre-fixed Valentines option. Each dish that came out promptly after we finished each one was simply delicious! The service was impeccable, the cocktails and sour beer were perfect. We will be back again!

We went on Friday because they were having a guitarist, I wasn't going to go because my 1st impression wasn't good. I didn't like the food and I paid for something that was overpriced. Ver disappointed that was on Wednesday they might of had an off day. Friday the food was amazing everybody was so nice. It was like a do-over. Perfect. Glad I went back

Beautiful building. Amazing brick work outside then the price for small plates hit. We ordered the cucumber salad. It was $8 and it was a garnish and not a salad. We also ordered the fries with curry sauce. Again the portion was inadequate. This dish was also $8. There was a very small amount of fries. They were definitely hand cut but because they were very different sizes some were undercooked and some were over cooked. The doner kebab was great but the chicken my husband had was over cooked.

It was an amazing experience! The charcuterie board was well worth it and it was definitely worth the drive. Also I GOT ENGAGED IN THE OLD JAIL on the patio last night ! So we'll be back!

This place opened less than a week ago and it does everything right. The service is great. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Also the food is excellent. If you like curry ketchup then this is the place for it. It is made in house. There hard/soft pretzels are very good. Also the fries here are wonderful. I will be going back soon and I hope to catch there happy hour.

This is a great place to go eat. It's a cozy little location, nicely decorated, they play good, contemporary german music, and the staff is extremely friendly! We got the happy hour platter, and that was some of the most delicious food we've ever had! (And me being from Germany, that really means something )
We will definitely be back!

We have been here for dine-in dinner, take out and now outdoor dining and every single time the food, service and ambience has been fantastic. #SchnitzelGang knows some things about providing a great guest experience. This little place, appropriately as the name suggests, occupies the downstairs of a beautiful old house in Elkridge, upstairs is where you will find Coffee on Main. First of all, order a dang pretzel with cheese sauce. Ask about the gentleman who makes them. I'm not normally a sauce person but the cheese sauce is perfectly balanced, salty, sharp, savory, creamy but not cloying and not in the least bit like the nasty orange goo out of a can. Choose from a great selection of German beers or have a cocktail that's carefully and thoughtfully made by a real bartender. Schnitzel. Get you some schnitzel-ed something. In this case, I'm making it a verb because it's about the treatment of the item rather than traditional dish. Crunchy, not greasy, thin but definitely an attribute rather than just a dip and fry coating. Choices include pork, chicken, falafel (which is so good with the Rathskeller sauce that a few Mediterranean place should be taking notes), and eggplant. All are delicious to dip, dunk and slather the sauce of your choice. Apple cider is our personal favorite, sweet, acidic, complex and syrupy to stick to your perfectly crunchy schnitzeled thing. Spaetzle is awesome, just a tiny bit springy but tender and delicious. Hand cut fries are great and the slaw is tasty too. The patio outside is just beautiful with nice, spaced out tables, beautiful string lights and lovely landscaping. Our first visit a couple months after opening was a great time with warm and friendly service, great food and really cool digs inside. Pick up was efficient, tasty and a welcome change from the other takeout from restaurants nearby. And tonight's visit, we called ahead and they reserved a table on the patio for us, go inside - masks on - order and head out to your table where they will bring your order out to you wirklich schnell! Prices are ok, I had an eggplant schnitzel and a side of spaetzle. They offer pork, chicken, falafel and eggplant schnitzel ranging from $5-8 each, sides of slaw, German slaw, fries, spaetzle, Brussels sprouts, and a thing or two more for $5 for small and $7 for large. Pretzels are $5. This isn't cheap food but it's worth the thoughtful preparation and genuinely warm service. They thoughtfully took the concepts that German food gets right, applied it to yummy eats for the here and now and make you forget about the jaeger sauce of brown gloppy goo and rubbery mushrooms called to mind when you think about German food. Thank you, thank you, thank you Schnitzel Gang und bis bald!

Great atmosphere and food. Definitely overpriced though. Had sticker shock when we got the bill. Had two appetizers, 4 glasses of wine, a draft beer and 4 desserts. $175 later.....
Without eating a meal, didn't expect to pay that much.

Nice feeling. A little loud inside. There was outdoor seating. The food was pretty good. Good beer selection. There was wine also. Extended parking is available a little further down the street. Parked there for a bike ride and ate after.

Based on the reviews, my husband and I really thought we were going to like this place, but we kinda didn't. The barmaid was excited to tell us when we first arrived that they just released a new, larger menu today, with larger portions and entrees. My husband was excited to try the Sauerbraten. He never had a chance though, because they released the menu, but the food to make it didn't come in on the truck. The pretzel was tasty, but pretty small for two people to split. The stuffed mushrooms were excellent, and probably the best thing we had. The fries looked beautiful, and you can tell they're hand-cut, but most of them were undercooked. I ordered the Arugula salad with butternut squash and chicken. It was very tasty, although the chicken was a little overcooked. It was an incredibly small portion for the price, and I'm glad I wasn't overly hungry by the time it came to the table. My husband ordered the burger, and was hugely disappointed. Two small, McDonald's-like burgers on a stale bun. Forget ordering your burger medium, it's not possible with these wafer thin patties. Finally, we asked if there was a dessert menu. We were told there was not, but that they had cheesecake and a homemade brownie with ice cream. We ordered the brownie, which appeared to be bought that day at Giant, it wasn't warmed up, and the ice cream was sub-par. We really, really wanted to like this place, but sadly, we can't imagine going back, at least not any time soon.

They allow dogs on the patio! I didn't go inside, but the entrance led to the basement, which looked very cool! Great food, loved the Falafel, Chicken Schnitzel, and all the sauces (cheese, and honey mustard were my favorites). Will probably get the big bucket next time I come!

AWESOME Addition to Elkridge. I love me a good German restaurant. Happy Hour pricing is a steal on several items. I'd love to see traditional Spatzle added to the Menu in the future! Beer Selection is very good, but it would be AWESOME to see Schneider Weiss Aventinus / Aventinus Eisbock! This is right on the way home from work for my wife and I. We will be back endless times. It's been enjoyable each time we've gone so far!

After doing a search for local German cuisine I discovered this cute spot. The resturant features limited indoor and outdoor seating. Appropriate social distancing and masks were followed by all. The food was on paper plates and plastic More

The service was good enough. Sat at the bar on a week day night. The menu is limited which isn't bad if there are specials but no specials were available. The beer, liquor and wine offerings are excellent. For one of the starters they offer a charcuterie which is a mish-mash of cheeses and fish/meats that don't go together. The beef in the goulash main was dry, unfortunately. Cowboy porkchop is a definite recommendation.

If you love German food and haven't been here yet, you're missing out. We had their pork and chicken schnitzels, both of which were amazing. Service was very quick and the staff was incredibly friendly.

It's hard to find good German food in this area, but after visiting the Rathskeller, my family now knows that this is the best spot to go if we find ourselves craving German food!

Seemed like a hidden secret in Elkridge, up an unassuming street. We had schnitzel, spatzle, a pretzel, wurst, and Bavarian beers. The food was well worth the trip and come with delicious sauce options. The pretzel tasted like it was made in Germany, with a chewy dark outer crust and a dense yet soft interior. The beer was flavorful and imported from Germany, definitely worth coming back to sample more. The staff was very nice. They have a bar, indoor seating, and an outdoor patio. Parking on site.

Loved the place. We made a reservation, which ended up being a good thing as seating is limited during Covid19 times.

Food very authentic, I had Jaegerschnitzel (uses vegan mushroom sauce rather than a hunters sauce, similar and good, just not a hunter sauce).

Ambiance was my favorite, aside from dessert. Nostalgia set in upon hearing some of those songs. They also had some live music on patio, but I liked the dine-in option more

Amazing experience! Food was great! Customer service was great. The environment was amazing as well, you can tell that the workers actually care about the customers, the energy there is unmatchable. My experience great. I attended this restaurant alone and even though I sat at the bar, the workers made me feel like I wasn t alone. They conversed with me and checked on me periodically.. suggested food items and answered questions. The food was AMAZING ! Highly satisfied WILL be back again.

My husband brought me here for my birthday and reserved a table for us at 4 p.m. on opening this Saturday night. I agree with all of the reviews posted. The food is good, the alcohol selection was good. We had a good waitress named Ashley. She explained the menu to us, stating the items were a la cart and starting mid January the would begin offering Entrees (there was one entree on the menu tonight, Salmon). What was disappointing was being seated against the wall between the bathroom hallway and the supply closet at my back. Particularly as we were the only patrons, had a reservation and that they knew it was my birthday. I learned when a worker would be on the schedule, watched the cook get supplies, and several waitresses going for boxes. I agree, they have a few kinks to work out. I do also agree the drink options were a bit expensive, maybe good for happy hour - however none offered on Saturday.

We had a party of 8 (2 small children) and the staff did an excellent job serving in this climate of social distancing. The snitzel and spatzle were fantastic! The beverage menu had a solid selection of German beers, wines and unique cocktails. We'll definitely be back!

Food is really good. The fries with the curry ketchup were great, the pretzel was perfect, the cucumber and potato salads were good, the chicken schnitzel was a bit fatty (would love to see a pork schnitzel and a cordon bleu on the menu). It is a new restaurant and I see that being added soon

This place is incredible -- my girlfriend and I loved the Schnitzel and she said it's the best she's ever had (and she's been to Austria). The staff were also very attentive and helpful at answering my food allergy questions. Ordered through Door Dash.

Checked this place out because a great bartender recommended it. Small cozy setting with half booth seating to dine in. Portions were filling so you do not need to order a lot. There are weekly specials and happy hour deals. Live music once a week. I would recommend this for a date night because it's not too loud, great for conversing. Free parking lot and street parking available.

Absolutely delicious food and stellar beer!

This was my first time visiting and it did not disappoint- I absolutely loved everything I ate and drank and will definitely come back again soon.
We sat outside and devoured several schnitzels and wurst's, as well as the amazing sides like broccoli, fries, and slaw.
I am a huge fan of soft pretzels and the pretzels we had here were perfect.

It also has its own parking lot as well, which is nice.

Happy hour has great prices. The staff is attentive and helpful. The menu is small, but there is plenty to choose from. We had a taste of about half the dishes and we're happy with every penny spent.

I appreciate this restaurant offering popular German bar foods, but make sure that you order enough food, because while I received a reasonable amount of food, it was less than I would have expected in terms of making sure the people I was ordering for were fed. This is NOT something you want to discover when you're hungry! For example, the potato fritters (kartoffelpuffer) are inexpensive ($5) but you only get 3 very small ones, rather than a box of them that you might share with multiple people. I would order 10-20% extra if you're a big eater.

Ahhhhmazing! I had a falafel sandwich with broccoli and cabbage sides. Everything was exceptional. Quite possibly the best falafel I ve ever had. I cannot wait to go back and try other items. 5+ Stars!!

Local gem! My husband, teenage son and I very much enjoyed our dinner at Rathskeller. The food is outstanding and the staff is very efficient, welcoming and friendly. Because it's so new we tried several food and beverage items. Everything was truly delicious and we don't often all agree when trying a new place.

Beer was great, food was great, atmosphere was good. Sauces are excellent.. Has parking and lots of outdoor space.

Only complaint was the sandwich rolls. It fell apart in my hand! I'd say get it in pita or plain.

Potato cakes were really, really good. Wish they came more than 3 at a time!

Cool new spot in Elkridge. They did an amazing job renovating the space both inside and out. Our group of four had a couple of drinks each which were very well made and a few small plates which were all very good. Our servers were very sweet and friendly. All around a great time. I think we ll try the patio next time...looks really cool!

I've had this restaurant on my to-do list since it opened. We finally went and cannot wait to go back. We reserved a table outside, which was a good distance from other guests. The service was quick and the staff were very friendly. The menu had so many good items, we had to try as much as we could. Basically, you can't go wrong with whatever you order. Everything was just absolutely fantastic.

Friendly, festive and fantastic are only a few ways to describe this beautiful dining experience. Not only do the comforting German dishes and exquisite cocktails make you feel warm and bubbly inside, but the staff do as well. I'm counting the days til warm weather permits a dinner on their romantic patio as well.

Came for a private party. Amazing! Atmosphere was clean and cheerful. The food was great! Get yourself some schnitzel! I have never had better tasting broccoli or slaw in my life!! Great job to the staff who served us and the chefs who prepared our food. I can't wait to come back and try more from your menu!

Really a fantastic experience. Great food, lovely ambiance and easy parking, just tucked off the main road. And great beer - there was a German beer on tap that was unlike anything Id ever had, really a cool find on the part of the proprietor. Lovely outdoor space for a nice safe date in the age of covid. Service was stellar too. Highly recommended.

Have been wanting to try this place for a while and so glad we did! Sat outside on the patio - tables are spaced adequately apart and they only have 4 or 5 out there so feels very safe. The patio is so cute too with strung lights and gorgeous landscaping!

Food was awesome and came out fast. We had our two young kids with us and they greatly enjoyed the soft pretzels and the spatzle n cheese! The scoop and paddle ice cream sandwiches for dessert were delicious too. We will be back!
