This hotel has apparently gone through some major changes in the past year (according to other reviews)! And it shows! It was previously a Ramada, but they've gone to great lengths to rebrand under the Delta Hotels name.
We called ahead to make sure on our reservation, and the lady at the desk was incredibly friendly! After reading the past reviews, I'd say that the night staff there is wonderful, and should all get raises because they are incredible! It's also super helpful to have that sort of a night staff when you home some of your late-night travelers, like us. So kudos!
Our room was gorgeous. I fell in love with the desk that had a power strip built into it so you could do all of your office work without having to rearrange the room to get to all the outlets. they also had a business center set up if you needed that, but who doesn't love being able to work from their hotel room in their pajamas? :-) There was a gigantic flat-screen TV that has the capability to log into your Netflix if you want to! There's also the local guide. it seems that there are other options for logging into accounts that you have through the television, but I didn't have anything other than Netflix. The TV was definitely one of the biggest I've ever seen in the hotel room though! The beds are large and super fluffy. And very clean! there's a coffee maker in the room and a mini fridge hidden behind a cabinet door. The one downside? No microwave at the room. But there is a microwave in the lobby downstairs where the commissary area is. They also leave complimentary water bottles in the room. Which is super helpful for the coffee pot! also, there's an abundance of outlets in these rooms! Including just straight USB ports. Right next to the bed, under the TV, on the desk, and plenty of other places. The bathroom is very modern! There's a power button on the mirror that turns on a light around the mirror. I was very happy to see that the light that they installed was more of a natural light, so for those of us who like to do our makeup in the mornings it was nice to be able to have that perspective. Instead of the god-awful fluorescent s*** that happens in some other places. there wasn't a tub, but there was a very tall stand up shower. And plenty of towels.
Speaking of the commissary--they had some reasonably priced items in there, including toiletries, candy bars, and even energy drinks.
As far as extra amenities, we also happen to have a room with a door that led straight out into the pool. The pool has a gigantic water slide! It looks super fun. We didn't have enough time to utilize this, but I could see it being a lot of fun for families. there's also a restaurant in the lobby, that seems to have food all day long. I don't believe that they offer continental breakfast for free to hotel patrons, but maybe with the Marriott Reward system there's some sort of points or something that you could redeem for free breakfast depending on your status. There's also a full fitness center and a Starbucks in the lobby. I ordered an iced latte at the Starbucks, and had a wonderfully pleasant conversation with the girl working there. She was very sweet and we had a very fun conversation... so I started off the morning on a good foot!
All in all, I was very impressed with his hotel. I would recommend it to anyone traveling through the Grand Rapids area.
