Only stayed for one night as a bit of a treat. Hotel is set in generous and well maintained grounds, plenty of guest parking. My room was on the top floor. There's no lift so if you have mobility issues please make this clear when booking. There is a wheelchair access lift up to the first floor. The hotel is quite an old building and the room didn't have air-conditioning, but a desk fan was provided and worked well enough. The outside wall of the room was curved and had three windows so the view from the room was fantastic. The room was very tastefully decorated and furnished and the large bed very comfortable. Bathroom was the usual bath with shower, again very tastefully decorated. Dinner with a bottle of wine was a bit on the expensive side but the taste and quality of the food was fantastic (as was the wine and the cocktails). All the staff were incredibly efficient and friendly and although I was only there for the one night I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, the surroundings and the food and the overall experience and left feeling relaxed and refreshed.

Rooms are clean n tidy and the WiFi and showers are great. The staff are friendly and attentive... we stayed on a special offer of 3 course dinner and breakfast... the dinner was very good but not massive (doesn't really need to be if u have 3 courses) and the breakfast is help yourself with a good selection... if we come this way again there's a good chance we would come back... good views and closer to Gloucester than I expected.

Lovely setting and friendly staff. Good food but breakfast could have been a lot hotter and a choice of eggs would be nice. Room on top floor and no lift. Not as fit as I used to be. Overall a very nice place.

this hotel turns into a nightclub at the weekend. the screaching and wailing from the karaoke which had the most bass i have ever heard, rattled through my room until midnight. repeated attempts to ring or find any night staff were fruitless. so after my 4.5 hour sleep (due to working in the area so early start) i looked forward to my 2nd nights stay here after a long day at work.
wait, who are all these people outside oh wait..... another party booking. after speaking to the manager she told me this one has a late licence until 1am. she wishes me good luck in finding another hotel in the area. nice customer service!
i only gave this place 2 stars as the bed was comfy.... i had plenty of time, awake, to appreciate its comfort.

i would not recommend this place unless u want to party and can hack people murdering you favourite tunes at the top of their tone deaf voices.

Nice but needs improvements... Quite nice as you approach from the road. The main room is very beautifully decorated. The classic room was spacious and the bathroom was clean. The room included a twin size bed and a double . It was actually two twins pushed together to make an American king. It was only uncomfortable if you slept in the middle as you could feel the ridges of the mattress. The food in the restaurant was tasty however service was extremely slow. It took about 25 minutes for a waiter to approach us about drinks and meal for that evening. It took another 25 minutes to get appetizers and another 10 minutes after that to receive drinks. My steak was ok,.. not the best I have had but cooked well enough. It took another 30 minutes to clear our dinner plates and get the bill. We waited another 15 minutes to pay by card but ended up saying charge it to the room. Another table complained about the ten percent tip and I felt bad because the wait staff deserved it but it wasn t their fault that the restaurant was in adequately staffed. The next morning we opted in for the breakfast buffet however most of the warming trays were empty. It seems they had 2 big parties staying that weekend. I waited 25 minutes for scrambled eggs. Additionally I went to get bread and found another guest used his hands to hold the entire bread to cut it. I was immediately turned off. There was no sliced options available. The table holding the coffee was just two containers of coffee and milk. No labels on either and partner has a dairy allergy and no other options provided. The staff was nice. I admired that they hire young people in the area to work here however they were completely overwhelmed and did the best they could given how full the hotel was. I think management should take a look at how many staff they have vs hotel occupancy. Cutting corners ruins the entire experience. I believe an additional person during dinner and breakfast would have made a major difference. I would stay here again but would not dine. Check out was easy and the lady at the front was very nice.

First experience on arrival not impressive!!

First experience on arrival not impressive!!
Receptionist absolutely rude . You can t expect nice greeting there.Room very disappointing!Bath was blocked so having shower left us with freezing cold water to go in to have morning shower.
For the price we paid going for races, beyond expectations.
Only bed and breakfast was nice.
Not going back.

Beautiful hotel and the reception staff were so welcoming. The views of the garden from your room in the morning are wonderful. Rooms are really nice. Very clean! Situated in a beautiful location. Highly recommend

Very very odd location,

Very very odd location,
The road was too narrow.
But the view is really good and cosy.
Very secret place feeling.

Sadly no lift at all, and my room was 4th floor.
Dinner and breakfast was very good standard.

Today is December 22, 2015, near Christmas. I am very happy to have the opportunity to stay at the Moka Hotel. We stayed in Room 335. This is a very beautiful place, and the service is very thoughtful after coming. A typical English country meal is served for dinner. The environment around the hotel is also very charming. Handsome and handsome waiter is very cute.

Our experience was a beautiful quiet hotel, exquisite surroundings, particularly liked the lake with a couple of Ducks on it. Such a charming building. Really impressed. Staff= Reception were very polite, charming and welcoming on arrival. Could not do more to help. Bar & Manager= good sense of humour, made us welcome. All Restaurant staff= polite, helpful, friendly. Food was of a high standard throughout. We will be back - Highly Recommended for a Romantic break.

Stayed here a coupe of weeks back. Reception is a bit weird, small and the staff stand behind a small table, not a counter. It can get a bit tight when a coach load pulls up.
Stairs only, no lift. Rooms are big, with big bathrooms, or at least mine was. Wifi is poor, doesn't reach all rooms.

Staff were good, helpful.

Generally it's a bit rundown apart from the bar etc.

Bed was nice, comfortable but I didn't get a good night sleep.

Food, starters - calamari, tasteless. Mains - burger, chips were good but burger was over cooked and burnt in places, did taste good though.
Beers, a good selection with a couple of good local ales.

Breakfast was poor, bacon overdone, sausages were a cheap type

Big downside for me, I left my watch in the room. Called and dropped by on the way back but it wasn't found

We visited Bowden Hall for a Christmas dinner and all the staff were super helpful in making sure we had a great time. Special mention to Archie for saying yes to all our requests, and also to Stephen behind the bar for accommodating our laptop and my constant trips into the storeroom to change the song :)

Receptionists were terrible. When I checked in bad feeling, when I checked out with different staff obviously worse.
Apparently there was no lifts in the building. My room was on 4th floor and I asked porter service. They charged me on reception. I am sure its gone to company account. Not to porter!!!
Restaurant and bar staffs were so nice. They are only one star from me.
I am travelling a lot because of my job. I am also regularly use member of accor. I seriously consider with accor group in the future.

Really lovely hotel and very friendly staff. Nice quiet location but within a 20 minute drive from the centre of Cheltenham. Recently refurbished which has been done well - clean and modern.

On the room /dinner / breakfast deal so you never get a very good room -was OK but in the roof space -and the hotel has no lift !!!! Disabled wheelchair lift to first floor is available tho. Evening meal was a rushed affair considering it wasn't busy -Im sure our main course was made at the same time as the starter because it was Luke warm when it arrived . Service was lack lustre even though we had took the a la Carte option which costs more !!! I can't recommend it ! Bar area is good and not too overpriced. Breakfast on the other hand is a different affair -good choice of cereals / juice, pastries etc and a help your self cooked section with all the usual favourites. Overall OK but not good if you paid full price !

This is a nice hotel and staff are lovely. Reception are really helpful and friendly. Furniture needs upgrading in the lounge as abit worn, but I totally appreciate that this is not a priority when you have been closed for months due to Covid 19. Food is poor in the restaurant which surprised us. It looks great but our mains were bland and tasteless. Also the sponge cake for pudding was hard as if it had been microwaved. I would advise to eat at Gloucestershire Quays which is just a few minutes away by car.

Very peaceful and quiet. Perched atop a hill Out in the sticks with beautiful views and a river running through the lower elevation of the property. The rooms are cozy, clean and of a reasonable size and price. Courteous service from staff and fresh towels delivered daily. The in house restaurant has a good selection of well priced and prepared food along with a wordy wine list. Beware, they have no lift but they do have staircase assists up to the first floor.
