I have stayed at the Raffaello hotel several times...

I have stayed at the Raffaello hotel several times in the past and loved it. We loved the charm and character of the hotel. So we decided to stay here again on our vacation. This time however, i can clearly see that they have let the hotel go. Our first room the paint was pealing from the walls. The table wobbled, the bathroom drain in the floor was nasty and unclean. The bathroom door would not stay closed, etc. They offered to move us to a different room, which was great. BUT now the new room has spiders and in the top corners of the walls. Clearly they do not spray or clean the hotel. We will not be staying here again.

We had a great stay at the Raffaello Hotel. An initial problem I had with a reservation via a third party site was quickly and thoroughly resolved by the desk staff and management. Excellent rooms in close proximity to public beaches and the "Magnificent Mile". Very friendly and helpful staff; I didn't feel like I was wasting someone's time as I have at some chain hotels. My only complaint is no free WiFi in room. Not all of us are business travelers. :)

Worst experience of my life! Hotel staff is horrib...

Worst experience of my life! Hotel staff is horrible, booked online and checked my confirmation email to find out they messed up my name on the reservation. Called the hotel to update my name since it has to match my id at check in, the woman answering the phone was very unprofessional. Lied to me and told me i would have to contact the "third party vendor I booked through" (i booked directly through raffaello) because she couldnt update information there. Spent AN HOUR AND A HALF calling every travel agency to see if they are the ones I booked through because I thought I made a mistake. After no success I called the hotel back again and was told the same thing. Spent another half hour calling around. Called back a THIRD time and asked for a supervisor, ended up getting a male on the phone who updated my information in 30 seconds!!! Also, they charge a $100 deposit that they failed to mention to me prior to booking. Check my bank account the next morning and see that they charged me the deposit TWICE! Ended up having to make a fraud claim with my bank to get my money back. The hotel itself is awful! Wallpaper peeling off the walls, ceiling cracking, no curtain on the shower, looked like mold growing in the shower floor. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on. I am so disappointed. Especially after spending $130 for one night. Coupled with the fact that they charged me $200 for the deposit when it should have been $100, I lost over $300 which ruined my entire trip to Chicago and the deposit takes up to 10 BUSINESS days to refund!! I now have no money to to anything else and I wasted my time driving 6 hours to Chicago, just for the hotel to take all the money I had set aside for this trip. I do not recommend this hotel WHATSOEVER, not even to my worst enemy. If you're considering this hotel, do yourselves a favor and book somewhere else.

The location was great. Only 1 block off of Michigan ave. The room was very spacious. I would stay here again. The only cons were the room could use some updating and the elevators are tiny (not really that big of a deal though, in my opinion).

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE...I made a reservation ...

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE...I made a reservation with this hotel for two rooms so we could attend the car show in February 2019. Typically when staying in Chicago I always stay at The Peninsula or Renaissance. Since the trip was a birthday present to my sister I let her choose and she came up with Raffaello. After researching the property, due to the location and the previous good reviews from other patrons I went ahead and made the reservation. Unfortunately 3 days before our check in date we had an unexpected death in our family and the funeral was scheduled for that Sunday (our check out date). After calling the hotel multiple times being placed on hold up to 32 minutes at one point, I was finally able to get thru to someone to explain my situation and asked if there was any way I could transfer the dates to March. Not only was the representative rude but she her exact words were "uh uh you booked thru a third party so I'm not touching it" and hung up. I called the third party explained the situation to after sending his condolences the representative placed me on hold to call The Raffaello to have the dates transfer. Once the representative came back on the line not only did he express his deep concern of how unprofessional the representative from The Raffaello was he let me know that they would not honor my request. The representative from the third party was sympathetic to my situation I started to feel bad for him to have to deal with the rude staff from the hotel. So not only was I charged for the 2 rooms for the hotel I was also left with a bad first impression. I would never book with this hotel again nor would I refer anyone to them. Customer services at its worst!!!!

I stayed at the Raffaello in March of 2014 for a convention I was attending in Chicago. I called to get a taxi one morning, they said it would be ready in 5 minutes. When I got downstairs, about 5 minutes later, the front desk hadn't relayed my message to the bellman. I waited about 30 minutes for my taxi. Next, I had a family emergency and had to leave a night earlier than expected. I checked out about 1pm. They didn't refund that last night stay but when I called, they said they'd give me a credit. I called to make that reservation, got hung up on 3 times and was treated very rudely. When I finally spoke with someone about booking my free night, they said it had to be used within 90 days. I tried to book it within 120 days. Needless to say, I'm very unimpressed with the service at this hotel. I was treated very poorly and would not recommend it.

Beware this is NOT worthy of a Chicago 4 star hotel rating. From bell hops that didn t even open the door, we re on their phone most every time we entered and exited the hotel. the valet parking runs 67.00 a night and the valet called us at 8:30 A.M. in the morning on our check out day to inform us our car was ready outside, when we never called for our car. Check out was listed as noon we had to pack up fast and skip breakfast as he told us we needed to move the car ASAP. The room was spacious on the plus side but with blood stains on the bed, stains on the floor (many) stains on the furniture and many broken items in the room that were in need of repair. Hotel windows were in need of cleaning and looked like it had been a while since the window cleaners had been there .To top off the disappointment in the sad status of the room the manager on duty was unwilling to do anything about our stay experience and simply said the hotel had started renovations but unfortunately they were not done and that I could call on Monday and speak to the GM. ( glad that the hotel feels this is a good excuse for the poor conditions and lack of professionalism from staff as if you read back from reviews a year ago and this was told to people as well ) I have stayed in hundreds of hotels as I travel often and this hotel should be a 2 star hotel at best very disappointed

It was a great experience. When we walked into the building, we were immediately greeted and checked in. The room was clean and air conditioned. They had a small fridge stocked with some drinks and a small mini bar with a few select bottles. We want to come back and check out their outdoor lounge on the roof. It looks amazing.

It is rated as 4 -stars hotel but it does not worth it.
I have stayed in a King Deluxe Suite.
- Useless large TV with no channels.
- No coffee maker is available. and when requested they will bring one without coffee and cups as there are no stock.
- No restuarant and no breakfast available.
- The heater is loud and poor.
+ The stuff are good.

Excellent location. Very large rooms with lounge and two large screen TVs. Neacafe machine and microwave in the room, as well as the fridge. There is no breakfast, there are donuts at the bar but they are high in calories and the breakfast that can be ordered in the room is not suitable for Italian tastes and costs too much. There is a supermarket very close, in the street immediately next to it, on the right side and in the basement, where you can buy everything and have a good breakfast.
There is the ironing board. Large bathroom. Fantastic bathrobe. Excellent mattress. great WiFi. Quiet rooms. Some have lake views. Clean. Courteous staff. At the 2nd couple gym and PC to print the boarding cards.
I would stay there again, recommended. The only flaw is breakfast, the pronoun said is deferrable.

Friendly staff, minor issues. While I want to stress that I had an overall positive experience, here is the rundown of things that were either abnormal or issues. When we first got to our room, the air conditioning was not working. Someone quickly came to fix it, but there didn't seem to really be a way to regulate the temp. It was permenantly a little cold in the room. The bathroom mirror was cracked and there were some obvious kludgey repairs. That said.. everyone was friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable. The showers were excellent. It was a very affordable stay for the area. I would recommend it even with the things I listed.

It's one of the best hotel in town. It's like an apartment hotel with a big drawing room and pretty good master bedroom. Room service is not available. But there is a coffee shop at the lobby where you can grab some snacks if you wish. When we booked room in the hotel , we had been through other options aswell like there are two bed room occupancy was also available since we were two people this room was more than enough for us. This is right next to Chicago 360 . Millennium Park and cloud gate is also very nearby that t
akes 25 minutes to reach.

Don't stay here. I seen the poor reviews and decided to try it out anyways. That was a mistake. For the price they charge here you would expect alot more. $100 a night would even be too much. First off, there's no soap in any of the rooms, and they don't offer any, so bring your own. Second, don't bring anything that needs to be refrigerated, there's no fridges in the rooms. The rooms are also a terrible layout. I got the grand suit, which was only slightly larger than a regular rooms. You would think the bathroom would be in a common area. Instead it's in the bedroom, which if you travel with more than 2 people offers zero privacy. This hotel is just plain terrible. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

Comfy old-line lodgings in the heart of Chicago, near the historic Water Tower and Magnificent Mile. Points lost for a lack of amenities such as a breakfast room. Business facitities are crude and the printer was broken when we were there. Smallish rooms, poor water pressure. The Raffaello was comfortable and stylish but not plush.

We were surprised to only pay $75/night for such a posh hotel. The location was great in that it wasn't dead in the center of the city but near enough to walk there. At the end of the day, it's a lavish room to retire to.

The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious.
However, the door to the room would not close properly and needed planing. It was dealt with by management.

The faucet was also leaking and the toilet had a bad odour coming from it.

The wifi was Was spotty most of the time and NOT SECURED. It was completely open to anyone who wished to conect to it, even outside the building . After expressing my concerns about it to the front desk, I was informed 'that was how management preferred it'. After prsssing the issue further about having an assessment to correct the issues, it seemed to fall on deaf ears.

For what it cost for a few days and the inconvenience of the issues, I cannot recommend them at this time. If they improve their maintenance of their suites between guests and security of their wifi service, I would recommend this hotel without issue.

I have stayed here once and I'm a kid and I found this place amazing! There even isn't a pool! It's right by the Hancock tower which looks amazing at night. Down the street is water Tower Place a.k.a. water tower mall and I love it there they have so many shops to choose from and there is a ton of variety. Definitely a 5 star rating location

Spacious and clean rooms. Details comp cold water at the entrance of the hotel and coffee maker with Starbucks coffee. Good amenities in bathroom. Very good location. An important problem for which I do not give better rating. It needs an important isolation in the windows, there are several underground parkings around and the ectractors make a real night and day noise. The air conditioning is also a tractor when you put it on.

This was our second stay at the Raffaello, and I am so glad we came back. Located right by water tower, makes it easy to get to and to get around town. The rooms are smaller, but quite roomy by City standards. They are updated and clean! The staff is friendly and professional. We recognized several staff from our previous stay. Extra bonus is the amazing donut shop in the lobby (glazed and infused)--a must! Also parking was easy and as affordable as Chicago gets. We will be coming back!

Kitchenette with fridge, microwave, and keurig coffee makers in each room but no coffee pods, coffee cups, stirrers, or napkins. No resturant, no room service, no bar, no lobby coffee service, Sunday - Wednesday and no bottle water. Are you crazy? This is a basic service even Motel 6 provides.... awaking travelers need coffee and water.
