Clean, big rooms that feel modern. Plus who doesnt love the the Ninja Turtle Raphael. He probably digs the name of the hotel even tho its spelled differently. He most likely will start a peaceful protest to change the spelling of the hotel name sometime here in the future.

Overall this hotel feels very average. Room did feel a little dated and no pool but other then that not a problem. They had a beautiful lobby with donut shop and it's right down town next to malls, shops and much much more.

If you want to stay somewhere with even marginally good customer service, stay somewhere else. There are so many hotels in Chicago, there's no reason to support the poor customer service that Raffaello offers. I received a $175 gift certificate for Raffaello. I booked a room with a confirmed room rate (inclusive of taxes and fees of $244.19). When I checked in, I was informed that they had two reservations in my name. Although, I had only made one reservation, the woman checking me in insisted that I had made two. I confirmed that I had one email with one confirmation number and showed her the confirmation email. Notwithstanding, she continued to tell me that there were two reservations. I told her I only needed one room, a deluxe suite (as indicated on my confirmation email). She stated that the phantom other reservation was not for a suite, but after going around in circles, finally agreed to "upgrade" me to the suite on my confirmed reservation, but the room wasn't ready. We left our bags, awaited a text from the hotel saying our room was ready & enjoyed a wonderful day in Chicago. When we got back to get our room keys for the room that we already had checked in for, there was a new person at the desk. I gave him my name, and he informed me that there was no reservation under that name. I explained to him what had transpired earlier, explained that I had already turned in the $175 gift certificate & showed him my confirmation email. He asked me to confirm my name several times, asked to see my ID, told me he was aware of the gift certificate, but couldn't find a room under my name. I showed him the text I received from the hotel telling me my room was ready. He finally found a room, and gave me keys to room 704, with the number written on the key sleeve. We went to room 704 to have the key not work in the door. I couldn't make this story up if I tried. At that point, someone else from my party went down to deal with what had become an outrageous ordeal. The person at the desk told her something about military time and that the door of room 704 doesn't work. He reassigned us to room 708. To this point, there was no apology from either of the hotel workers that we had dealt with. You would think it ends here. Today, we checked out, we were told everything was squared away, and when I got home I looked at my bank account to see that a $244.19 charge was applied by the hotel. Although they have the gift certificate (because I produced it at check in), my balance was not credited for the $175 gift certificate. I immediately called, and not only was there not only no apology, I was told that nothing can be done because even the manager on duty is not authorized to fix this. My patience is worn thin and I am irate. There is absolutely no excuse for this poor customer service. Across the board, all of the people from the hotel who I've interacted with have shown terrible customer service. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Give your business to a place that values their guests. Raffaello is not one of those places.

I love the location and the staff are fabulous. Hot rooms, so get that temperature down when you enter the room. Also, frosted glass bathroom door keeps light in room when needing to urinate at 6 a.m....bright for those wanting no light to keep sleeping.

Staff were excellent. Room was dated and cold. Heating was non existent. Good location for access to the main drag. Despite 3* assessment would contemplate staying again. I know it gets very warm in Chicago but when??

Just called the front desk to see if we could get more pillows because the pillows look like normal bed pillows that were cut in half. They told me that the hotel is all sold out and they have no pillows left. Please see the picture below. This is embarrassing.

We got an excellent price at this hotel with a last-minute deal which was impossible to beat ($96 for 2 double beds). Location was great. Check in was a bit of a disaster because we were given the keys to someone else's room at first! Our room was fine, but there was food in the fridge that someone else left behind. The heat was verrrry loud and ran all night, so much that i had a dream about it, and the thermostat wasn't functioning correctly. We had to set it at 61 to keep it comfortably warm. The showerhead was nice but didnt work with the design of the door so water went out unto the rest of the bathroom. Bed was comfortable. View was fine. It was easy to store our bags there after checkout. the cheapest overnight parking I could find was just a block away. I'd stay there again if I could get that price again!

Charged 250% of agreed price, urine on seat upon arrival, lied to about parking. No receipt emailed as promised and I discovered improper charge while reviewing monthly expenses. I have called them to no answer at the front desk and no response to voicemails.. yet.

Sucks to support a local hotel during hard times only to be treated like this.

The room is a bit smaller than my expectation but the price and location were great deals! I had a room on 22nd floor that look down to the Chicago canal and the Trumph building. It was a beautiful view. The check-in and check-out procesure was also super fast. Happy with my stay :)

Would recommend only if interested in history of hotel. The lobby is very small and in a constant state of chaos. You do receive help with your bags when you arrive. Only one doorman assisted with cabs. The bed is wonderful and the bath is beautiful. If you have bad knees you won't be comfortable with the rest of the furniture as it sits very low. The air conditioner sounds like a jet taking off. The kitchen light fell down and 3 days later when we left it was still down. Too many quality hotels in Chicago to stay here.

It was only a 2 minute walk to the Willis Tower. There is also a very good BBQ restaurant kiddie-corner from the hotel. The rooms were surprisingly spacious; nice TV, and a huge bathroom with a waterfall shower head. Only reason for 4 stars is the rooms were slightly outdated and I believe they had enough room to fit 2 queens, but the full beds were still comfortable!

Hotel would be worthy of 4 stars except for a critical flaw, the elevators. The place has two painfully slow, painfully tiny elevators. Expect to wait in line for an elevator from the lobby and expect to skip elevators that are filled up when trying to go down. Also expect to be crammed in like the Tokyo Subway when you do get in the elevator. This also bottlenecks the staff and clearly impacts the speed and responsiveness of service.

Great location, right next to John Hancock Bldg and Water Tower Place.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. They asked if they could make a change in our room when we arrived, which was really fine, and accommodated us for that. Well played staff, well played!

Very poor hotel. They have no bag check. And they are very disorganized. Waited half an hour after check in time for them to get me a room. They told me something would be ready soon then waited in lobby for 45 mins

First of all it was cold outside. Oh by the way it was cold in my room too! Maintenance came promptly but unfortunately the issue didn't change much. The elevator is so small that it really is only room for two people if you have luggage. I do understand that it is an older building and remodeled so that could possibly explain why the windows are drafty and the elevator is small. The coffee shop that is in the lobby the gentleman working there was extraordinary. As far as ambience you would expect more for the location. There were a lot of small things that needed basic attention such as the toilet paper holder was not fully mounted into the wall or the fact that the cocktail table in the room had chipped glass. Small details are important I think to a lot of people and yes I could have mentioned it to the staff but I was there for one night and putting forth the extra effort wasn't worth it at the time. So to summarize if you want to stay downtown on a Groupon or a find a discount rate - just to say that you were downtown go for it. If you want to be impressed don't expect much.

Cant believe this place has 4 stars. AC does not work hardly at all, room was in the 80's on coldest setting. No room service, no vending machines at all. Ice machines on certain floors only. Have to leave hotel just to get a bottle of water or soda ,1 small elevator for 17 floors big enough for 4 people tightly Fit and a high traffic skybar sharing elevator.10 min waits to catch an elevator not full. Yes staff was nice as I have read on these reviews but there are so many cheaper places and/or places that offer a lot more for a better price. My room was 200 and I had a room a few months ago in Chicago with a pool, gym, public computers, room service, vending machines, a shop down stairs to buy drinks and snacks, complementary full breakfast, and had 6 large elevators for $100/nt and staff was just as friendly. There valets also meet Customers outside as I had to walk in and find someone in a rain storm upon arrival

We stayed there just last week and when we got the the people in the man who works in the front was very rude. We also had to pay the $100 deposit. Which I didn t mind. But what I do mind is that just like you guys want your money right there and then, I want my refund when you guys say I m going to get it back. The front lady said 3 to 5 business days. And I still have not received anything. I called and emailed and nothing. It s my first time staying and probably my last.

For a hotel in downtown Chicago, surprisingly roomy. Huge bathroom, but the room layouts may vary. Fantastic amenities, nice tv, (blu ray players available on request), outstanding rooftop bar, great donut/coffee shop in the lobby, superb location right next to John Hancock building (recently renamed, don't remember the new name). Would stay again.

The sleeper-sofa was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever had in a hotel - hands down. The frame was bent and broken and tilted so much I slid off the bed. I got no response during our stay from management after sending two texts and visiting the office to request some sort of accommodation. (I later received a $75 refund). The carpet was stained as was the furniture. The furniture was dusty and smudged with fingerprints. This place has great "bones" but needs better care and upgrades throughout.

drumBAR on the rooftop however is amazing. It has a great selection of scotch and whiskey.

I stayed here last night. I booked this place for my friends birthday In hopes we would enjoy the rooftop bar. The liquor here is extremely overpriced. 26 dollars for two shots of Jameson! Regardless, I went back up to the bar to get my friend a drink and the bartenders clearly ignored us even though they were not busy. Maybe we didn't appear to be the right clientele? I can't tell? Anyways after that we gave up and left. I'm leaving 2 stars because the beds were comfortable although a little undersized at full and I had no issues with checkin but getting up to our rooms was slow because there are only 2 elevators.

I would have given this hotel 4 stars, but my room was not cleaned before I came . I found dirty bedroom sheets and a bottle of liquor in the room and trash in the room .I had to wait 15 minutes before another room was issued to me .

Can't give a good review for this hotel. Shower head broken. Like warm water in shower. Rupped carpet in room. Don't get me wrong it's clean but it's very old and not well serviced or maintained. Very disapointed by paying 4 star prices for 2.5 star hotel. So giving a 1 star review.

Great people, nice accommodations but the highlight of this hotel is the rooftop bar and terrace "The Drumbar". This place was absolutely wonderful with some of the nicest people you'll meet.

Good place for stay.. small bathrooms for the price. Has a rooftop bar... walkable to wildberries which serves amazing breakfast... and a French restaurant behind the hotel for some good lunch...

once was a great hotel. I knew Company says has bought it and make horrible changes such as housekeeping move there is no dormant anymore. I spoke to the general manager name amen very. I told her I ll stay here and I don t really like the changes for the better because they don t have a pool don t have a restaurant like other downtown hotels I m more than likely I ll be back. Stated to me they don t stay here , I was absolutely floored and then she offered to take me on a tour and I told her I would any elevator with her and said don t ever speak to me in those terms again. This lady needs to be Terminated immediately she should not be in the hotel hospitality industry at all. I did not have ANY HEAT AT ALL

We stayed at the Raffaello four years ago and we will be returning this summer to Chicago to play tourists and we look forward to staying there again! Great location, wonderful staff and the room rates were affordable.

Very good hotel ... the bad thing is that it does not have free Internet in the rooms and if you ask for the delivery of some package to the hotel they charge $ 10 for each one, maybe it would not be bad if they give some service included in the price. Beware that they have debits on the card and nobody knows how, after much insistence they found it. Except these very nice things.

Fantastic location in the city. Two of the four staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. The room was just okay. The chairs were stained. There was no place to hang your towels. The recessed lights were not covered. The sconces were leaning off the walls. There was no end table between the two beds so no place to set things at night. The glass on the round table in the room nearly slid off the table top a couple of times. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. I was on the fifth floor and the trash truck that came before 6 am woke me up every morning. Try to stay on a much higher floor.

Added note: I posted photos of the bathroom lights and other flaws I described above but it seems the hotel blocked or removed those pictures.

I went to this hotel in July and they didn t charge me until October because of their system. I don t understand how that works and it s not professional at all. The lady I was talking to was not friendly or helpful. I wanted to understand why they would place the money on hold for 12 weeks. Furthermore the rooms were ok and not the best. The chair in my room was falling apart. The stay was below average and I would think they would be nicer because they re in a hot spot in the city. Honestly never going back to this hotel.. I will spend more money for better service, room, and a place where their system wouldnt break.

Friendly staff, great service, clean room, comfortable beds, it's an older hotel- so it has its quirks like a tiny elevator but also unique. Location is excellent- Right off Mag Mile and next to lake also! We were very pleased with our stay in Chicago.

Hotel was clean and the beds were so comfortable. Unfortunately, the walls were extremely thin and we were on a floor with many children who made a lot of noise. Next time, I will request an ADULT FLOOR.

This hotel is stunning. The rooms are huge and the staff is amazing. They really go above and beyond for you. Great location - close to Millennium Mile and Navy Pier and other great restaurants. I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat!

Extortionately expensive, poor quality hotel. Tiny wardrobe, strange duvets with only sheets covering the duvet.. no proper duvet cover, no breakfast area, expensive mini bar. Location is good.
