I did not know about this place till last week. Well worth a visit. Its a busy RAF base, so lots of planes coming and going. This part of Lincolnshire is flat so look to the skies when you get near if you don't hear the planes first. Also home to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. A lot of the BBMF planes were there when we visited but check if you want to see a particular plane as these are all flying examples. You can just rock up and visit BBMF as its not inside the base, no prior security clearance etc required. Do take the guided tour, the guides are excellent and ours were ex flyers and so passionate and knowledgeable. Thank You so much. C and J.

Exellent guided tour by a well informed guide but the stars of the show are the battle of Britain, tactical air force and bomber command aircraft. also flying display by currant typhoon aircraft as RAF Coningsby is a frontline fighter base.

What more can I say! Excellent viewing area and a very active base. FGR4's usually leave mid morning and return about 1-3pm. The BBMF aircraft are also situated here so you could be in for a treat!
