Amazing! If you are interested in learning how to surf or just renting equipment, this is the place to go! Everyone is so helpful and nice!! The surf shop is right on the boardwalk in pacific beach! Adam was an amazing instructor! So much energy and enthusiasm! My 13 year old had a 90 minute private with him and was immediately riding waves after a little land instruction. She was hooked and did it again the next day! They set up a photographer the second day to take pictures! Anne did an awesome job! I highly recommend this place! You will not be disappointed! This was the highlight of my daughter s trip! Thanks PB surf shop and Adam for an awesome experience! We will be back!

Inexpensive beach chair and umbrella rental, great for those of us who want to be at the beach but need shade! Just steps from the beach. Super friendly and customer service oriented employees.

They have great selection and the price point is great. I definitely recommend it.

I bought my very first board from these guys back in 2007. I don't live in the area anymore but will be using pb surf shop to rent boards whenever I am in town as it's cheaper than what the airlines want to fly with boards. Recently took a board out for a week and had a blast . Rates are reasonable and the staff was very helpful.

Such a friendly place, all very personable and made you feel so comfortable! Randy is one of the kindest dudes in town!

If this is the only line of of my review you read, GO TO THIS SURF SHOP. I came here for my second surf lesson after doing my first at a different surf shop. My experience at the first was fine, but my experience at PB surf shop blew it out of the water. Toni did such a great job making me feel comfortable and talking through my fears of getting back in the water. The prices are also extremely competitive, arguably best prices around. My instructor Jack was awesome and worked hard to make sure I would succeed, and cheered me on the entire time. I bought a photo package as well to remember how much fun it was. The vibe of this shop truly can t be replicated. I m definitely a loyal customer, and I will be back next time I m in SD. Go to PB Surf Shop for any of your surfing needs!

Easy rental and reasonable prices. They had plenty of different board and wet suit sizes available. Pickup /drop off were quick and to the point. I would recommend skipping the foam boards as they are water logged and extremely slow. Get a glass board and you will be much happier.

Great instructor!

Adam was our surf instructor and is great and knowledgeable about the waves, boards, sea, safety, and customer service.

Adam gave us 1.5 hour surf lessons to myself and my brother-in-law. He was first spent about 30 minutes on the sand teaching us the basics of how to stand on your board, how to get up on the board, and what not to do to ensure safety.

Surf Instructor Adam then took us out into the ocean and told us when to hop on the board, when to start paddling, and when to jump up on the board to surf the wave just right.

If it wasn't for Adam's quality customer service and laid back and cool approach to teaching, surfing for the first time wouldn't have been that great.

I would and will definitely recommend this place when we visit San Diego again!

The shop has a great vibe. Randy and all the staff were awesome! All very helpful for my first time trying to surf. I took a lesson with Tanner and he was equally helpful. He was easy to talk with and very patient and I was able to stand up before the end of the lesson. I thought the prices were more than reasonable as well. If you are looking for a lesson or rental look no further. Sign up and have some fun! I can't wait to return!

Great service and inventory. fair price and fair play

I loved the energy but I was disappointed because my children had started to learn to surf a few months before this trip, they had four lessons at three different schools. My daughter has always used one size board at all of the lessons she had taken and for this lesson they recommended a larger one. My daughter has always had sports come really naturally to her but unfortunately due to the size of the board she could not stay on. I don t know why they wouldn t give her a smaller board.

Adam was the man! I've wanted to surf my entire life (I'm 37 y/o now) and had not made it happen until a recent trip to San Diego. PB Surf shop was recommended by another shop that was all booked up and glad they did. All the staff were super chill and kind. Reasonable prices. Adam gave a 2:1 lesson to me and a buddy for 90min. We both were surfing before the lesson was over. Adam's love for surfing and his knowledge shined through his teaching and eagerness to see us surf.

Ian was a great instructor! I got up on my feet a few times even if it was wobbly and brief like a toddler learning to walk what a challenge! This was great!

Had a group lesson and it was great, absolutely addictive! The instructions are super friendly too (Adam and Jonathan). I've never surfed before but I learned so much from just one visit. Would totally recommend it!

It s been 14 days since I went there. Paid for pictures and have yet to receive them. I just counted the total from my call history, I ve contacted them 9 times and once by email. Multiple workers have assured me I d get them by now but nothing has been sent. I requested a refund and a girl said she took care of it but I see nothing even pending on my credit card accounts. So clearly this place is having trouble with customer service despite some of these reviews.

Update: Took another week almost but I finally received a refund and the pictures. Still unacceptable that I spent this much time just for some pictures but since my experience with the instructor was good and they seem to be making an effort to get better as seen by the owner s response to this I ll bump my review up to 3 stars.

Awesome experience, instructor Adam is an absolute BOMBSHELL of a guy in the BEST way possible; super funny, super enthusiastic and very willing to help out everyone. Wouldn t want to learn how to surf anywhere else!!

Had a blast. Adam was super helpful and knowledgeable. You could tell he had a passion for both surfing and teaching.

Super Awesome Experience- we rented boogie boards for two days in a row and there entire staff was Awesome. Super convenient location. Robbie helped us out the first day and was Amazingly Awesome to my two boys- an experience that we will never forget- hope to go back next year!! Lance F

My kids absolutely loved the Pacific Beach Surf Camp. The instructors were friendly and fun and now my kids are hooked on surfing. We will definitely be coming back very soon for more surfing fun.

The foot is really good (try the dinner fries) and the view on the patio is spectacular.

Stood up first try (for like 2 seconds lol) after their instructions. They were super helpful for any questions I had. And everyone is super nice!

Loved this place. Super friendly staff, very relaxed atmosphere and the lessons were very well priced and taught you the basics while allowing you to go off and learn on your own and at your own speed. Super legit store, very local and lots of knowledge.

Excellent location and staff. Had a private lesson that was phenomenal. Instructor Adam really had a passion for teaching others and did an amazing job. Had a great time and would definitely take another lesson here or rent in the future

Great staff, super nice and great location. I was at the Catamaran resort for a work conference and couldn t pass up the opportunity to surf during my down time. Staff was super friendly and helpful. I will go back to PB next time I m in the area! For now I have a great PB surf shop T-shirt to remind me of the place. Thank you!

PB surf shop surf lesson was by far the best part of our San Diego trip. My three kids 11,10, and 8 had the most amazing experience learning to surf for the first time. Robbie and Chris were extremely informative, made them so confident, and part of the surfing family in there two days of lessons. The whole shop was very polite, welcoming, and made this whole experience very worth every penny. We will definitely be back to have them learn more, thanks guys

Robbie went above and beyond to get me set up with the right board. Hands down the best customer service I have ever received from a surf shop.

We took surfing lessons. It was scheduled for 90 min, but we ended up spending 2 hours, because the instructor wanted to make sure we found a good amount of success before we left. You can tell that all the guys at the shop really care about surfing, and want to make sure you have a great experience. Chris was a great instructor, and we made significant progress - enough to go off and practice on our own. Thanks guys!

My 9 year old daughter took a surf camp last week and she absolutely loved it. Randy was passionate and really lived the surfer lifestyle. The staff were great; special thanks to Christian and Daniel who made our daughter feel at ease and confident to ride. To put it in her words: "I learned some amazing sick moves!" We will definitely be back next year on our vacation. The manual that was created was really cool to go through and taught her something more than just riding waves!

What a great place! My Niece had a blast taking her first lesson here. Highly recommend for your first surfing experience or a great place to rent from if you didn't bring any gear with you. I like to support local small businesses vs big corporations and will definitely be back on my next visit to PB. See you next time Randy!

I am local and signed my son up for surf camp. He has been having the time of his life. Despite living a few blocks away and having full access to surf anytime, he has been hesitant. This camp is amazing. It has taught my son the skills needed and boosted his confidence so he will be ready to go out with us in the water. They have a wonderful program, provide an extremely detailed booklet to keep to provide even lifetime surfers with knowledge they may have not known or were afraid to ask.

The instructor are wonderful, he had Alicia and Jake. Randy the owner is beyond amazing.

Please support local, this camp is so much more than just water time.
I will be signing up for a semi-private as well after watching them all week!

My friends and I came here on a Saturday and were met with great service! Chris was awesome, and we had a great time out on the water that day! Super fun, would definitely recommend.

They have a solid supply of merchandise. I found what we were looking for while I was with my nephew. Very convenient location for beach goers as well!

Surf shop is the best spot for pb locals and beginners, they have good instructor crew. I would recommend teacher Chris for beginners like me because he has extra patient and his energy makes you more stubborn againist waves... thanks for everyone who is smiling everytime

Amy, Alesha and Randy are some of the nicest people on the planet. They we're all so helpful and I have nothing but good things to say about this place.

I was at a conference and decided to try surfing for the first time. John was my instructor and got me on the board super fast. Great instructor, great service. Totally badass. Highly recommend it.
